@torres_unix @Bowser05 I'd say it's an Action RPG, with the emphasis on "action". Also, BioWare games tend to be more story-driven than other rpgs, and unfortunately their latest offerings have been narrowing the scope of exploration and character development. Their last great RPG was probably DAO but still, ME3 still qualifies in the soft-rpg category. Imo.
I agree that there's not a valid correlation between videogames and the impulse to commit violence - videogames are the new scapegoat, in the past we had movies, comics, rock'n'roll, you name it.
Still, this guy is like the worst possible advocate you could find to defend the cause.
ME3 Casino DLC, featuring EA's new microtransaction system, buy credits or play online with your Microsoft points. Featuring new soundtrack by Sam Hulick with a high potential for tears, everytime you loose a hand. Also, play against Harbinger: "This Hurts You".
ME3 Casino Party DLC. It's just what the fans have been waiting for. Sam Hulick's tweet about "high potential for tears" just gained a whole new meaning".

Use stealth tactics. Upgrade your knife and bow skills. Or use big guns. Explore. Do some fun platforming on radio towers. Drive vehicles. Fly gliders. Use a wingsuit. Parachute. Swim. Venture into caves. Play poker. Have fun...
@nickscho I agree with most of what you say. As a counter-argument, I'm enjoying Far Cry 3 a lot, I think it's a very well executed open world game. But I agree that, although we had some very good games, maybe we missed that kind of "memorable" title we saw in past years that defined everything. Red Dead Redemption (2010) is one. Skyrim (2011) is another. Games that define what gaming is about and become references for the future.
So, yeah, it's important that an original title like Journey gets this recognition. And its a good thing that new formats like the episodic Walking Dead series are successful, because they may open the doors to smaller, alternative studios that continue to bring originality and fresh ideas. I'm not saying AAA games aren't great, I love many of them, but it's also good that gaming isn't reduced to the big mainstream contenders.
@BBA4LIFE I'm not saying Far Cry 3 deserves to be Editor's choice. But I'm surprised that it wasn't nominated since, in my opinion, it is one of the greatest gaming experiences of 2012.
