[QUOTE="Dantus12"]

Finally got my network back.

The skin is not really a problem,I would just paint some shadow in the skin folds, like on the collar bone, the inner arm and leg area, the inner side of the hands, and for a warrior type that fights outdoor make her skin a bit darker, and reduce the glossines a litlle.

She probbly has nice topology since, she`s deforming properly.I mentioned the modding because a deadline for character creation, and I mean character not generic model no.234,there is huge gap between those two,is at top studios like Blur for the HP character 10 days.So with your two year plan on modding calculate how many things you could learn and how many you could create for your portfolio,so try by working on personall projects to.

Regarding the focus,If you know what your personal preferences are, there is nothing wrong wih sometimes being a jack of all trades, dont forget however to become a master of one or two.

The ulitimate focus in gaming industry for character creation is the ability to work with"polygon budget".So you get a limit of 4000 per NPC with close LOD,800 wih distant 10000 for PC,AND 25000 for PC cutscene, thats a example, what is apreciated is the ability to execute that, and execute it fast.

Im boring, but practice makes the master. The Zbrush thing is since we are on a gaming site really mainstream now.

example:

These are HP however. So sculpting is a must, in character modeling. And I was dead serious about painting too.Study people and movements, anatomy, there are some cheap but exellent books, work with references, till wou are able to know exactly where which loop goes, and more important what happens in animation if it`s not there.Stay clean and aplly stif rules to your self on naming conventions.

AWESOME! Thanks, man. Looks like I'll be grabbing Zbrush and reopening some painting and illustrationbooks (have several already).

Here is one off the masters, and a excellent place for learning:

And here are some books, depending on your budget, something to keep a lifetime:

Thank you. The appreciation really helps.

I am wanting to get into the industry, yes. That's one reason I'm writing this sequel for DA. I want to be able to say look, I can do 3D, I can do the writing, the storyboarding, the programming. Kinda like what I do now when I'm looking for a contact: so I can say to them you need me more than I need you because I'm one of those rare people who can do the requirements gathering, the storyboarding, the design, the implementation, the database development. Not only can I do them all but I do them all VERY well.

Makes looking for a job much easier.

Right now my experience doesn't lend itself to the gaming industry but it's going to. Not sure however when the time comes whether I'll be asking people for employment. Dreamware Studio is a company I've recently created. I'm going to give it a year, maybe two to build up some collateral and then go in search of investors. I have a couple of ideas I want to try and make happen.

It`s a sensitive subject, how to point out the potential problems, without sounding like a smart ass.
First a gaming site is a god place to get basic input, but IMO not for more.
I thought you were just modding, so again my 2 cents:
1.She`s deforming better than Isabella of DA2.
2.The skin is a serious problem.
3.She is holding weapons, there would be tension, visible tendons, not to strong on a woman and veins.
Regarding your ambition,a sequel to a existent game can be a good or a bad thing. It`might be seen as already done, you know just another modder.
Originality, meaning original characters are something to show of in your modeling reel. There are to many fantastic artists out there,so you have to be original.
The requirements are a perfect grasp of anatomy,so study anatomy charts, and study more anatomy charts.
To have a established work flow, meaning when required to be fast to be fast. It is more important in the gaming industry, then in film simply because a movie doesn't require a game engine to run ,and want collapse to desktop because of a broken loop.
A serious grasp of Zbrush to,it` really changed the industry, games are successful map tricks now, more than perfect models.
Practice, practice ,lots of practice, specially concepting, take drawing lesson if you haven't yet.
Have a clean portfolio,if you don't like it no one else will,so start again.
Again the idea with modding is a good thing, but work aside with that.
There are specific sites to get competent input, but practice more,And now I sound like a smart ass-Sorry!
English isn't my first language so the urge to clarify things is winning me.

[QUOTE="lawlessx"]

[QUOTE="SkyWard20"] When was the last time prime BioWare made a game that wasn't good? Oh, I CANT remember.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Mass Effect 2 the HIGHEST RATED game ever made by them? BioWare is at its creative peak.

Roland123_basic

jade empire

Even though mass effect 2 got high scores the game was much less of an RPG then the first mass effect and it appears this game will suffer from the same fate.

buuuuuuuuullcraaaaaaaap. ME2 was a far better RPG than the first ME.... it had more story, more character development, and more places to go and see. just because it doesnt have as many powers, or as many items, does NOT make it less of an RPG. FFS.... a game is an RPG as long as it lets you make choices, is story driven, and has character development.... items and stats an RPG does not make.....

The choices:
Stuffing theMechs-the other way?
Lightning beacons-the other way?
Recruiting people-the other way?
Loyalty-the other way?
It`s a POV thing ,the game play can be seen as better, for people needing the fast pace.
The story and RPG elements were weaker, and I can live without gear and looting in a game.
The only actual Shepard related choices are the Paragon- Renegade options seen from the side off gameplay fun.
At the end there are less then 5 important things that will affect ME3.

Both are great, however if you check the official forums Dragon age is full with problems.

They were not patched since release. You might have more luck than others.

Alec Meer from PC Gamer UK gave The Witcher a 67%, describing the plot as generic, the combat engine was poor and the main character was lifeless. PC Gamer UK, which awarded Dragon Age: Origins a 94%, declared it the "RPG of the decade".

krisk7

Wow, I thought Dragon Age origins fan would never show hatred towards other RPG like The Witcher :) I think both Dragon Age 2 and Witcher 2 will be great! For the future reference: it's more fair to use average score like metacritic (9.3 from users for The Witcher 1) instead of finding the reviewer to "proove" your point. Besides Alec Meer seems to like The Witcher more and more or at least his description of the Witcher 2 press kit was very favorable (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2010/08/26/paper-paper-roleplaying-witcher-2-fun/). Please don't forget to update your signature in the future with the scores of Dragon Age 2 and Witcher 2. We need all people to spread the word about great RPGs :)

Sometimes it nearly sounds like fear. One cannot compare CD Project with Bioware,80 vs 800 people,EA marketing backing them,Dragon age will sell more-definitely,will it be a better game- doubt it.
