- How would you define immersion?

IMO, the ability of the game to "pull you in," make you attached to the story, characters, make you care about the possible outcomes, like make you feel guilty when doing wrong, or good when doing right, for example. Thing like direct interaction or impact on things and people in games can be also a welcome adition to immersion.

The ability to make you feel that you are part of it and belong in there. This is genre independent, and is something that is very individual for each player.

- What is it that immerses you in a game?

Personally the charcters , storys and the atmosphere. The atmosphere thing is usually as everything else something that is different for every player.

For me it's the thin line when everything matches the moment, and everything, from art style to sound and graphics is just there to underline the events in game.

Between these criteria, which one is more likely to immerse you into the game:

- Gameplay

- Graphics

- Story

- Cinematic sequences

- Something else maybe

Gameplay, story and the pace of a game that fits exactly what the game is trying to do, again genre unrelated.

- What games were you the most immersed in and why?

The Witcher for example- the story
Deus Ex- gameplay
Dragon Age Origins- the Characters
Morrowind -the World

There are way to many and it would be very hard to define it in short.

So for a limited time only, you can get an additional party member for free when you buy the Signature edition of Dragon Age II before January 11.

Planeforger

The fun part of this limited offer is that it won't be available on Steam.

I wonder if that's because Bioware would rather not give part of their profits to Valve, or because they know the Steam version will be popular (so they'll sell more DLC)...

This is the fun part indeed. Pushing the EA Store and excluding only Valve- the game is available via other digital sources.

There is no confirmation that even a normal edition will exist or be available via Steam. Bioware claims that the normal edition is the signature edition until the 11.1.

Very unfortunate for people that had no idea abou the signature deal. The 20 $ content that was "gifted," for preorders, will be sold for 7$.

And there still is day one DLC as part of EA's project 10$, which will include the option to respec.

WHAT 1 YEAR OWNERSHIP. Youre scaring me.

SkullShooter17

Well sorry.

It used to be like that. I don't know how it's now. What is known is that it was a very intrusive DRM. The manager was phoning home 24 times a day, creating conflicts with other managers and with the Nvidia NAM, the Nvidia Network driver part. It's CPU heavy, and from my experience the offline mode canbe used effectively only by disconecting your network, otherwise the processes are still running and creating performance issues.

It's your decision, maybe you wouldn't have any problems.

It's not a DRM. It's a download manager. You don't even need it to play games. If your account gets closed, the games installed stay on your computer, and you can still play them.

Well good thing they got better, still not going to use it, uneless I must. Their battle with Steam is getting boring. It's a individual preference however.

Used it twice, and never again , had to deal with it for a friend that had Sims 3 problems. It's far from good.

Hope they changed the 1 year ownership of your game. But still:

Do you have the 1.02 patch installed, according to the official forums it gives a performance boost.

If this is true, I hope they do a better optimization than they did on GTA4.

Is it confirmed anywhere or is this still speculation?

Not even remotely. The single player campaign is a poor mans free roam, the MP is not fleshed out, and is generally a chore with the console port controls on PC.

There are 4 tasks asigned to space for example, the game supports max 1xAA and has bloom problems that hurt the eyes. It was probably fixed by now but do some research.

The
Village editor available in MP is boring too, and it seems that the MP is not really alive.
A friend of mine was really frustrated with the game , the game is available in Europe for some time , patches are being made , but the balance for magic users is still a problem.

Modding is limited to SP only so whatever your preferences, the European customers where test rats.

Still a interesting singleplayer campaign, with lots of sidequests, that are less quests and more tasks.
