The fact is that Demand is outranking supply. What more do you expect from a Holiday season?Schumi7WDC
A better job of market assessment is what I expect. This is the consoles 3rd Holiday season, they should have a better idea of demand than they clearly do. It's not even the middle of December yet, and some of the largest retailers in the US are already sold out, and not expecting more until the new year? That is a gross miscalculation of product demand, even Nintendo has a better handle on thier stock than that.
It's not just that, I completely understand that things get sold out, but this is a way off the mark scenerio. And for me, it's the icing on the cake made in hell. They just had to do 1 of 3 things right. Either make a more reliable console, have a better handle on thier turn around for repairs and oddball repairs or replacement, or just make enough of the damned things so someone can go out and get one. They just had to do 1 of those three right, and they didn't they failed me on all three fronts, and that's why each one has me so disgusted.
Well, they're not going to rethink their marketing plan just because your christmas is "ruined".
With all the bickering back and forth, it's hard to decide what you really think as opposed to what people want you to think. Over the weekend I played nothing but my dreamcast. After doing so I realized a few things. First of all, the Dreamcast was first with many groundbreaking concepts in gaming. Secondly, the graphics on the dreamcast are just about as good as the Wii. Finally, I don't think anyone can disagree with the fact that the Dreamcast has one of most solid software lineups ever. The games are just fun. I played everything over the weekend. Powerstone 2, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Dead or Alive 2, Ferrari F355, NBA on NBC Showtime, Virtua Tennis, Crazy Taxi, Chu Chu Rocket, and I even popped in Shenmue just to remember what it looked like. The point of all this is that I'm bored. I have a PS3, 360, Wii, and a DS. This is among several other older systems. Games today just don't have that wow factor anymore. Sure, some games are great, but a few days later you realize that they are all just clones of someting else. I think the industry has reached a point were certain demographics will buy junk, just because their friends have it, or some game site tells them they should buy it. It's sad to think that at one time games last for months. Now the experience is shallow and leaves you wondering why you spent $60. Maybe I'm just being nostalgic, but I miss the days when getting a new game was a big deal. In case your wondering, the only games I'm looking forward to playing are Little Big Planet, Echochrome, Spore, SSBB, GT5, and if I ever get around to buying it, Orange Box. I would also like to give a shout out to the SNES for being another of the perfect systems. TonySoprano314
To me, the Dreamcast had a TON of potential. Too bad that it went out of production and such. There are the giants of gaming today, but I thought the Dreamcast was one of the best out there too.
Agreed. There has been so much controversy over whether or not this is real time or this is not, blah blah. I thought it was pretty scummy of them to claim that it was "running" on a PS3 the first time it was shown, especially where videos showing how it was made were surfacing all over the place.
I will wait for the review to get this game.
I've been craving an xbox360 for well over a year now, but lack of funds as kept me from being able to buy one. However, my money situation has changed recently and now I'm wanting to get one, but on pretty much every gaming site I go to, I read constant complaints about them breaking down--even the new models. I don't want to invest in something that I'm going to have to continually put money into for BS reasons, but the games out for the system make me want to take the risk. Is it worth it? Just how likely is it that my new 360 (should I go for it) will break down? Should I hold out for a possible recall and remodel?lambonius
Don't worry about it, RROD is covered for free. My warranty was well out of date when it happened for me, and they gave me a replacement with a NEW warranty for free.
The fat baby thing you kill at the end of HL also says things making it sound like the Gman could be an alien (his speech also makes it seem he may not be human). The fat baby thing may have actually been "good" and the Gman "evil." I cannot remember the fat baby thing's name thoughteebeenzThanks for the spoilers on a game we werent discussing.[/QUOTE
If someone is to be discussing HL2 in this thread, they should be very well aware of the ending of the first game.
More of the same would be fine by me.A continuation of the story is good enough, since the story is outstanding. I recommend reading the book, too. :)Staryoshi87
I've thought about picking up the book, and I'll be off on break from school for a while. Personally, I think that there should be a little variation in vehicles and planets. KOTOR for example, had some space battles (although they were pretty scripted and whatnot) and then the races (I forget what kind of machines they were). I think a space battle with the Normandy would be great or something like that. I also think that some of the structures you go into could be a BIt more varied.
This does not go to say that the game is not good, I wouldn't have 40+ hours logged and going if it wasn't. :P
I've also heard rumors about the sequal possibly being able to read your saved game from ME and determining the start of the story from your previous character and events. THAT would kick.
