Judging from this interview, it does sound like Activision broke their contract with No Doubt. However, I find it very hard to believe that No Doubt suffered millions of dollars of damages just because their avatars were in some extra songs. It will be interesting to see how they try to quantify these "millions of dollars" in court.
I really don't think this is going to be the big hit that Sony thinks it will be. This game lacks the same kind of character recognition and nostalgia factor that is present in super smash bros.
While this set looks really awesome, I can't see it seeling very well. It lacks the action focus that some of their other sets have (i.e. Star Wars, Batman, Lord of the Rings, etc.), so it probably won't be as fun for kids to play with.
Already have mine pre-ordered. I'm hoping that after seeing the successful sales of Xenoblade and The Last Story, Nintendo will decide to release Pandora's Tower in NA too.
I've played in two of the betas now. It's awesome, but it's definitely not the perfect MMO like people would lead you to believe. Still, it's probably the best MMO yet.
