cumulitive?

Acumulative?

Dude if you are going to put it that big be sure to spell it right

barney_calhoun_

well excuse me for actually answering his question and having a typo of 1 letter in my post. the word is not Accumulative (Which as 2 Cs, if youre going to criticize some1 for typing out a word wrong you should make sure youre at least typing it out right when you correct them LOL). Accumulative is the characteristic of being cumulative. so the patch would be CUMULATIVE just like i said. that's also how they identify it.

personally ithink ya should just save some cash and make do with what you have until you can afford one..I think they are over rated anyway and prices should drop some come xmas time

d0pestar

what he said. if you buy from a place like RAC you will end up paying WAY too much for a TV which isnt that good to begin with.

Save up and buy from a warehouse store like Costco, BJs, Sam's Club. If money is an issue, renting to own is the worst possible way to get the best bang/buck.

So I've finally broken down and decided to buy a new gaming system but I'm having a hard time deciding which one I want to get.

Typically I've been a PC person but it seems like getting a 360 or PS3 is way cheaper than investing in a gaming PC. On the other hand, PC's generally get much better game selection than any particular console, although consoles do have their own "brands" of games.

I've heard that the 360's have a lot of performance issues based on poor cooling design and that the PS3 suffers from too high a price and poor game selection. PC's are generally much more expensive and have a higher chance of having a fatal component error.

Anyway, what do you all think?

You will not be able to build a PC that can compete w/ the 360 for the price of the 360. That's a simple fact.

But you can't do everything you can do on a PC on a 360. the 360 is strictly for gaming.

the PS3 will bloom next year. probably around the summer. You should wait until at least then to buy one. They will use 65nm chips which will use 50% less electricity (they use A LOT now), they will include the rumble controllers (Dual Shock 3), there will actually be more than a small handful of games worth playing, and they will be less expensive.

The 65nm 360s will be arriving in the states about 2 weeks after HALO 3 arrives.

PCs are also just entering the crossover point. Quad cores are too expensive now, but in 9 months they will be very affordable, the current high end video cards will also be 1/2 the cost at that time as well.

So my recommendation would be this: Buy a 360 now (in 3 weeks). Enjoy it & save up for a PC. Buy/Build a PC when quad cores approach $150 in 9 months & when vid cards 1/2 in price. Then buy a PS3 after it moves to 65nm & Dual Shock 3 w/ price cut (should be $350 then).

FACT: HALO is the best console FPS ever in the history of the Universe.

FACT: HALO 3 will be fun

FACT: HALO 3 will log the most online hours of anything (except WoW)

FACT: People who hate on HALO 3 are wasting their time. It will still be a huge success & people will still enjoy playing it.

if you have a firewall make sure its set to allow BF2142 to talk to the net.

if your router is the firewall and you have to manually configure it. open these ports

The ports for Battlefield 2142 are as follows:

TCP Ports:

  • 80
  • 443
  • 4711
  • 9960-9969
  • 1024-1124
  • 17475
  • 17567
  • 18000
  • 18060
  • 18120
  • 18300
  • 18510
  • 27900
  • 28910
  • 29900

UDP Ports:

  • 9964
  • 16567
  • 1024-1124
  • 1500-4999
  • 18000
  • 18300
  • 18510
  • 27900
  • 27901
  • 28910
  • 29900
  • 55123-55125

if that doesnt work. uninstall it. reinstall it from the cd. and make sure the patch you use is the newest CUMULITIVE patch.

Plasmas are very heavy. LCDs are very light.

Plasmas have burn in. LCDs do not.

Plasmas have better color reproduction, brighter pictures, & better contrast though.

Plasmas are also more expensive if you get them in 1080p.

Burn in is not nearly as bad as it used to be, it takes much more time now. But it still exists.

FACT: Panasonic has the best bang/buck in plasmas

FACT: Vizio has the best bang/buck in LCDs. the Polaroid series at Wal-Mart is also excellent for the price according to Home Theater Mag.

NOTE: If you buy a screen, buy 1080p. If you can't afford 1080p, wait until you can. Most HDTV is broadcast at 1080i and LCD pixels are fixed, the picture cant scale like your old CRT computer monitors. It has to interpolate (guess what color to make the pictures to simulate a different resolution) the image.

P.S. Do not worry about any games being in 720p, because the 360 & PS3 will upscale to 1080p perfectly fine.

also, do not let some1 B.S. you into thinking you need a HDMI 360 for 1080p. the 360 outputs 1080p @ 60fps over component. VGA & HDMI is just to output 1080p for HD DVD movies, and that is because the Media Corporations want you to switch to HDMI because it has DRM (Digital Rights Management, to prevent you from making a copy) NOT BECAUSE ITS BETTER! Professional home theaters still use component because the signal is actually cleaner than HDMI. and the DAC ADC conversion does not add noise unless you have a really old HDTV.

HINT: Costco is a GREAT place to buy a HDTV. They double the manufacturer's warranty & if it ever breaks you can just bring it back to the store and walk out w/ your cash or a brand new TV.
