@nazart81 Same. I was in my 20s when it was announced, and now I'm in my 30s. D:
Think about what it must feel like to a kid who learned this information when he was in 6th grade, and now that he's a senior in high school, it's still not even out yet.
The interest in Versus has definitely faded for a lot of us.
@HybridKing This article just makes me want to punch Yoichi Wada in the face... repeatedly.
The fact that he actually typed "LOL" in his response to Kotaku just screams unprofessionalism on several levels. It's like he's deliberately trolling his fans.
"LOL! THE GAME IS COMING ALONG GREAT, AND IT'S AMAZING LOOKING! BUT I'M NOT GONNA SHOW ANYONE ELSE HOW IT'S COMING ALONG!!"
@cfstar Oh god... GT5 was probably even worse, being that they duped so many suckers into buying a $40 demo of the finished product. It blew my mind when I saw Prologue on the Greatest Hits lineup.
Seriously, with how much XIII is hated, and the obnoxious obsession with creating sequels to sequels, the excitement for Versus has waned considerably. I was looking forward to Versus a few years ago. Now I just want to move on and see them create something entirely different. :|
I'm perfectly fine with my PS3 being the "least family friendly" console. It keeps those obnoxious, foul-mouthed 8-year-olds away from my online games. They're the reason why I stopped playing my beloved XBOX 360 online. D:
@MalakTawus I wouldn't say it's moronic. Big projects get cancelled all the time by developers. Hell, remember how hyped StarCraft: Ghost was from 2001 thru 2005 before Blizzard completely axed the game?
Even though there's no confirmed proof, it's not all that unreasonable to assume that Square gave up on it. There are a lot of projects they've been working on, and they've been under a lot of pressure after XIV failed miserably.
Hell, maybe it wasn't cancelled at all, and perhaps they're making changes to it in order to create a new IP entirely. We don't know anything for sure, and we probably won't know anything for some time. But keep this in mind... if they're so keen on making Versus a reality, why keep it in the dark at two of the biggest game shows of the year? Why not at least come forward and say something to assure fans that work is still being done?
Rumor or not, this story really isn't as far-fetched as you might assume.
