Here

Well,he did show him the word...

ahh yeah, but the kid didn't have a problem with the word "german" he had a problem wit the phrase "Is German for basketball"

The question should have been worded "Does the name Beiber mean "Basketball" in german?". Not the way it was, especially not with the interviewers fumbling at the start and repeating of the question as being "IsGerman for basketball?"

I disagree. The kid is stupid. Anyone with half a brain knew what he was asking.

Bieber even responded 'We don't talk like that in America, we use the G-word.' Are you freaking serious? This kid is a moron, or he spent his entire childhood living in a bubble.

Tangmashi

Watch again mate, your misinterpreting what happened. The interviewer says very clearly "Is German for basketball" You tell me what that means? I'm guessing he interpreted "German" as some sort of slang, when asking the interviewer to restate the question he says something along the lines of "I don't know what "german for" means"

No, sorry, I'm not stupid enough to misinterpret the meaning to what he said. He clearly asked if it was true or false that Bieber in German means Basketball.

Even with his Aussie accent I understood perfectly what he said, and you haven't even addressed his idiotic comment that we don't use words like that in America which actually confirms that he had no idea what German means because he's a numbskull.

You hate the kid in the first palce, and areclearly seeing what you want to see. The interviewer when asked to repeat the question states very very very clearly "Is German for basketball". If some guy of the street asked you "Is german for basketball" You'd assume he was asking you about your last name? Obviously beieber assumes "german" is some sort of slang, and states they don't use that in America. I'm unsure about you, but most Americans don't use that expression... it doesn't mean he has no idea what "German" means.

Noticed this on booting up msn, a news article about justin bieber apparently not knowing what "german" means. In fact, a quick google search showed that news articles everywhere have picked up on this and are now mocking the kid for not knowing what "germany" or "german" is.

Here's the thing, personally I couldn't care less about bieber, but news articles flaming a kid, mocking himand calling him stupid is kinda sick. Especially as they've completely taken the interview it occured in out of context. The kid never said he didn't know wht germany is, here's what the interviewer asked him.

"Bieber, is German for basketball?"

then when the kid asked the interviewer to repeat the question, the interviewer simply said

"Is German for basketball?"

He obviously thought the interviewer was simply addressing him by his name the first time he asked the question, and on asking him to repeat it, the interviewer just repeats that last part, which obviously makes no sense. As a result a media-storm kicks in, and as I've said the kid is being mocked accross the media.

It isn't really right to put a kid through this sort of thing, I'm not for blatant sueing, but I wouldn't much mind if these media publications were sued for slander or whatever else these sort of derogatory comments go under. I'm sure as a public figure he could also get them for loss of sales and tarnishing his image due to unfounded claims, as well as emotional and mental damages.

Who cares, he's a singer. That's not really his domain. If he was Secretary of State, or a diplomat or something, that's when this should be newsworthy.Danm_999

Whether you think it's news worthy or not, as a public figure, the media picks up on it. When someone doesn't know what the word "German" means, it really is pretty pathetic. I mean, if you were picked up widely in the news and called an idiot without founding, you'd be pretty pissed. And this kid looks to be... early teens or something? It's not the sort of thing someone that age will handle very well, and kinda irresponsible of the media.

And everyone else, l2read, your as bad as the media, probably worse cause my topic isn't something as easilly misinterpreted...

I actually liked the handling in Grid much more, don't know why people say it's more realistic. GRID lets you throw your weight round corners doing full hand-break turns with ease. DiRT 2 does not, I'd say DiRT 2 is more realistic, and GRID is more arcadey and fun :P

Just playing through this game again, I'm noticing in the graphics options, even though depth of field and motion blur are available and active, they don't do anything. Anyone know what gives? :?

It's like they just stuck the options there so they could tick of features but forgot to impliment em...

I'm taking this as a new handheld. All we know is that it is 3D who said it has a touch screen. This thing is a completly different thing guys not a DS. The name 3DS is just till E3 remember

Cruse34

It is meant to be the succesor to the DS, and the main point of the DS is the touch screen, they definetly won't change that. But yeah, maybe only the top screen will be 3D, it'd make more sense. Plus, combining both touch screen and 3D in a single display would probably be stupidly expensive.

And we've all seen the DS tilty video, it's a possibility, but it's not really 3D, and to design and market a handheld around something anything can do (wii, PS3, PS2, 360, DS, any camera phone), would be kind of silly...

That said, a cheap shot is a cheap shot. I still find it funny though that System Wars will dissect every little thing a Sony Rep or PR or Commercial or Dev and label them as being immature or arrogant, yet when Microsoft or Nintendo does it, Cows just need to get thicker skin.

standarddamage

Agreed. The companies do this to each other all the time. What makes this one more inflammatory is that they drug the gamers themselves into it instead of just picking on Nintendo. The "eight and nine year olds" comment is pretty lame.

yep, thats the point we're trying to make, Sony attack the actual customers, at least MS and Nintendo only criticise the actual companies

Dude, that's amazing. This is the first time I could wrap my brain around the possible concept of what the 3DS might have to offer. On the down side, I had an immediate physical reaction to looking at those pictures. No seizure or anything, just the nauseousness related to motion sickness. It took seconds. I'm in big trouble if this is the future of gaming. As it stands I'm only playing puzzle and adventure games with very little camera movement. I guess eventually I'll have to sit down with a paper Word Search and call it a day. :(

Hey, can I link that Jurassic Park picture on another forum?

iggystar71

Don't worry about those pictures, your games are not going to be flickery like that, it's just an example of another way to do 3D. Go to a cinema and watch a 3D animated film. If nintendo plan on doing 3D, thats what it will most likely be like, minus the glasses. There's rumors that the screens are licensed from... damnit I forget the company but you can probably look it up :p The technology is available, jsut a matter of whether the rumors are true, or mis-interpreted
