let me preface this by stating i got a n64 late, and sold it off to a friend several months later because i thought it was the worst nintendo console ever, and one of the worst consoles overall. the lack of games is ridiculous. with that being said

perfect dark and ocarina of time were the only games that i owned that i would play again

Final fantasy IX sucked and VIII didn't?

no need to argue with you.

FFuematsufan

VIII was far superior to IX in every way.

 ...and yet, you played it twice.Threesixtyci

if you read my other posts, i didnt say it was a bad game at all. i said it didnt satck up with the earlier ff games. i enjoyed the game, but i dont think it is worthy of being called the greatest game ever on the ps2

My favorite RPG series:

  1. Suikoden (and yes, 2 is VERY good)
  2. Baldur's Gate (the PC games, not the Dark Alliance stuff)
  3. Shadow Hearts
  4. Shin Megami Tensei
  5. Knights of the Old Republic
  6. Xenosaga
  7. Final Fantasy
  8. Phantasy Star
  9. Shining Force
  10. Fire Emblem

I think that covers it for me. I don't think I'm leaving anything off (though I'm sure someone will prove me wrong :P)3KindgomsRandy

i've been wanting to play the shin megami games, but i havent had the chance yet. i missed out on the phantasy star series when i was younger, but i got psII on sega smash pack for dreamcast, and just picked up psIII complete for ten bucks for the genesis, so i will play them soon enough.

because:

- graphics were (and still are) amazing for its time

- the gameplay is awesome and addictive

- the sphere grid was different and innovative

- you could go through the game countless times because you could change the sphere grid however you liked

- for some people, titus was a likeable character

- for some people, they enjoyed the story

summer_star17x

i'll give you that the graphics are good, but to me graphics aren't what make agame good. I like what X did with the summons, but the grid didnt impress me that much. the story wasnt horrible, but i thought other FF had better stories. and i didn't mind titus, he didnt move me one way or another, but i didnt care for some of the other characters. and to me that was kinda the problem with this final fantasy is that it doesnt hold up with the series very well. don't get me wrong it was a good game. i liked it enough i played it through twice, but for me it could have been a lot better. but being a decent game doesnt qualify it as the best on a console. i think a game needs to be a little more than decent.

whats your favorite rpg series? mine is probably suikoden and wild arms. suikoden has 5 games + tactics and they are all good. i havent played 2 because it consistently sells for over $100, but i assume it is full of awesomeness like the rest of the series. and wild arms has 5 in the series, 6 if you count alter code f (remake of 1) and they have all been pretty good.

i have the xenosaga series but havent got to play them yet, i hear mixed reviews on these games. mostly people complaining about the lengthy cut scenes.

i have heard mostly bad things about the .hack and saga series's, so havent played them.

i really want to play the persona series, but the games for the ps1 are ridiculously expensive, so i only have p3

what are your guys favorites least favorite series? ones you want to play but havent? ones you would recomend steering clear of?
