I got the Sega Master System in 1989 (I think..?). I was five and it was great (Although those card format games were pretty much unplayable). Got a Genesis a few years later. Since then I've purchased all of my own systems, but when I've gone home for Christmas every few years (I live on the other side of the country from my folks and other side of the globe from my sister), I've always brought my current iteration of console. Sadly, now all I have is my PC, which is 40 bloody pounds, and a little hard to get on a plane, and none of the classic consoles I owned survived the 'Great Water Heater Failure' of 2009, I think my folks have seen the last of my gaming...

This is one of the main reasons that I've gone back to the PC in recent months. As Danny said; my PC and gog.com purchases are always there.

I disagree a little bit, although the 'Mere Exposure Effect' is something I definitely agree with, my great affinity for video game music comes from the fact that as a musician, video game music is simply the most fun to play. I haven't had a piano/keyboard in years (I couldn't afford a decent one that felt like a piano, and the one I eventually bought died about a week after the warranty expired), but Battle with Gilgamesh from FFV is honestly the song I've had the most fun playing. On the familiarity note, some of my favorite OSTs come from video games that I've never played. Honestly, some of the best remixes I've ever heard are from username 'Songe' on YouTube, and are from games I never played. Familiarity is definitely a factor; my favorite composer is Keiko Kobayashi from the Ace Combat series, which I loved, and there's a electronic remix of Tetris music A that I find fantastic, but there's a certain 'x-factor' to video game music and - to a certain extent - some movie OSTs (I can't put my finger on it) that just makes them more enjoyable.

@cristi1990an Although I'm not saying that's the case here, you can hook a PS3 or 4 controller up to your PC.

Also, as someone who started gaming on PC, switched to consoles in '07, then about six months ago built a fairly high-end gaming rig (http://pcpartpicker.com/b/EII) and ditched my 360, I can tell you that there's a very noticeable difference between 30 and 60 fps.

Okay, I've seen that 'Last of Us' RC a few times and it still creeps me the hell out. Couple that with the fact that I sometimes get bad insomnia, and two of the symptoms of bad insomnia are paranoia and anxiety, and damn...

Just no... I lost several months of my life to WoW, and I'm not looking to drop any more of my cash on subscription fees. Sure WoW was fun, and I actually made a real life friend out of it (she lived two blocks from me, go figure), but honestly, I buy a game and play it. I'm not going to pay for it after the fact.

@ChaosAngelZero "...super expensive PlayStation [4] with a gimmicky controller [that] nobody cares about..."

Really? Nintendo's built their last two gens around gimmicky controllers. Personally, I'm a PC gamer who won't be tossing his hat into the current gen ring, and on top of that, I think that the 360 controller is one of the best I've ever used (I have two hooked up to my rig right now), but you can't criticize a brand new console for being more expensive or having fewer games. Of course it's more expensive and has fewer games! It just bloody came out! As for the Wii U's controller (or touch pad thing, whatever you want to call it), it's too damn heavy and uncomfortable, and the battery life is abysmal. Not to mention that most of what I've seen displayed on the touch screen could have been just as easily implemented on the main screen as well (has anyone heard of a semi-transparent GUI?).

I didn't have any problems with the Wii. Hell, I even had some fun with them on several occasions. Some of the destruction that those flying controllers caused was admirable as well, but when it comes to the Wii U, no thanks.

@Raphy_Turtle @ESPM400 @Inlex I was referring to the vast variety of accents that come out of the maritime provinces. I work in northern Alberta, so I tend to run into a lot of them. Hell, I've worked with Newfies that couldn't understand other Newfies.

Thankfully, with the amount of traveling I did when I was younger, the fact that my sister's lived in Melbourne for the past four years (it's given her the most bastardized Aussie accent I've ever heard), and having worked directly with with a Scot and an Irish guy for the past seven, accents, at least English ones, don't tend to phase me too much.

EDIT: You'll hear 'eh' a lot if you ever decide to drive through Saskatoon...

First off, I don't disagree with any of those statements, however, coming from someone who originally grew up on the PC, switched to consoles back in 2007 (as I had moved, and none of my friends here were PC gamers), and just recently switched back to PC, there is a dramatic difference between the two. Personally I think, as @Ghostdog201 said as I was typing this, it comes down to maturity and the average age of those involved.

Let me give some examples; as someone who played quite a lot of CoD MW/2 and BF3 on the 360, I'm quite familiar with the rampant trash talk involved in those games. As I said, I played those games a lot and became pretty good at them, but before that happened, it was a major adjustment coming from PC gaming. Long story short, I sucked for quite a while, and I heard about it, a lot. Now let's switch to more recent times. I sold my 360 and built myself a pretty kick ass gaming rig not long ago with the intention of getting back on the PC gaming horse, and I'm having the same problem, it's a huge adjustment and I suck. That being said, in my first dozen or so BF4 matches in which I was absolute rubbish, I only had one other player say anything to the fact. I believe the exact quote was, "ESP, you gotta do better..." Not once was the term 'noob' mentioned, not once was I told to GTFO. With the exception of a couple offenders (*cough DayZ), I've found online communities for PC games to be much more friendly and inviting. That's just me though...

EDIT: That being said, PC gamers do tend to trash talk the console gaming crowd quite a bit, however...
