@rad8045 Man, RDR still holds the title for 'only game I've spent 24 hours straight playing.' Far Cry 3 would have been a co-holder of said title if it hadn't been my buddy's birthday the night before release day and I wasn't subsequently massively hungover...
So far this game is fantastic. The way I explained it to my friend is that it was kind of like when the Fonz jumped the shark... Except I was on a jet ski not water skis, I didn't clear the shark so much as use it as a ramp, and I didn't continue on to cheering and adulation. I turned around, swam to the bottom of the bay, skinned it, and turned him into my new wallet. Although after I did this the first time there was much cheering and laughter from me...
It's always funny to read a review and then scroll down to the comments to see how many people are complaining about the score and how it doesn't match their thoughts and opinions of the game. The thought that so many people think that their opinions matter on the internet is just mind numbing. Here's a concept, actually READ the review (or watch it...) first, then try to understand the high and low points that the reviewer is bringing up. Assigning a numerical value is a flawed way of assessing a game, mainly because it draws attention away from the actual review itself. Essentially when you see the score that a game gets prior to reading or watching the review, you lose your objectivity and become biased immediately. This, in turn means that less weight is given to the actual words being conveyed. When it comes down to it, the only person's opinion that matters when playing a game (not when writing about on the web. Protip: nobody cares), is your own.
Personally, I bought a G74sx about a year ago for $1500 CAD and have yet to find a game it won't play smoothly at max settings. Sure it's hefty, but since I use it as my home PC as well, most of the time it sits on a shelf hooked up to my TV
