I'm glad to see so many gamers here appreciate Troy Baker's work. I'm a fan of Nolan North as Drake in the Uncharted games, but he has the kind of voice that I certainly couldn't listen to all the time. Troy Baker's is easier on the ears for me & he changes it to suit the character. You are right, I forgot he did the main character in Tales of Vesperia. I haven't got around to playing my copy of that game yet. I agree with you said Jennifer Hale is another great voice actor. But for a female voice actor, I really love Mary Elizabeth McGlynn's voice.

I just think north sufferes the same fate as voice actor steven jay blum they have used the same voice alot. Though something tells me thats less on them and more on whoever on the team is directing voices. Since they both can sound very different. Though honestly even with the same voice they use I dont get tired of them.
I agree, it does have a lot to do with the director in the both with them. So it's not all his fault that we hear the same type of voice in so many games with him in them.
[QUOTE="DarkLink77"] There are a couple of times he's impressed me. Mostly. I'm, just like, "Really?" And the whole Darkness 2 thing pisses me off.DarkLink77
Yeah I know, on the whole he's not that great, (Although a lot of the character's he voices are never intended to be anything but comical) but he does have *some* great performances.
What happened with The Darkness 2?...He's voicing the main character isn't he? :| That would suck because whoever voiced Jackie in the first game did a fine job.
He does have some. I thought he did a great job as Romeo in ODST, for instance. And Drake, natch.
Yeah, North replaced him. Which is just a "WTF?" moment.
What reason could they possibly have for that? It's like when the first voice actor for Cole McGrath was replaced. I hate the new voice.

I don't know if you guys have noticed, but being a fan of anime I have. Troy Baker is a voice actor who has done plenty of anime dubs. He is also a gamer like us. I've started to notice that he has really hit his stride. He voiced Snow in Final Fantasy 13, he's been many characters in the Call of Duty series, He's the voice of Ryu Hyabusa in Ninja Gaiden 3, the voice of the male lead character in "The Last of Us", he is Booker DeWitt in BioShock Infinite, He also played as Two-Face in Batman: Arkham City. The difference between him & Nolan North is that I don't think I will ever get tired of his voice, no matter how many times I hear it in games. So what do you guys think? Do you like Troy Baker? He is the next Nolan North, in terms of getting all of the main male voicing acting gigs in a lot of big franchises? Personally Troy Baker, Crispin Freeman & Steve Blum are my favorite voice actors. I think all three are underused. And also, do you think being the new Nolan North is a bad or a good thing for gamers? Since we'll be hearing his voice in our next big games?
They need to understand that east and west might as well be on different planets & make advertisements for each respectfully. Japanese advertisements shouldn't have a Western celebrity playing a Western style adventure game. I hope when it comes Stateside it gets in it's grove and they don't kill it like Sega did the Dreamcast or something.
I'm sorry you are so upset that you feel the need to lash out on an online forum to make yourself feel better that one of your favorite developers is focusing on consoles instead of PCs. If you don't like it, don't buy it. But I loved both Crysis and Crysis 2 on consoles. And I can't wait to see Ryse, as well as Homefront 2. The fact is there is a lot more money to be made in the console industry than the PC game industry. That's why Infinity Ward, Epic, Valve, iD, Bethesda, and now Crytek are focusing on consoles. I gurantee that Respawn Entertaint's first game will be a console game even though they used to work at Infinity Ward that use to develop primarily on the PC. Don't like it? Go find a kleenex.
