What's really funny is the amount of adult white men on here thinking they have a worthwhile opinion against feminist critiques on the gaming industry...

@LesserAngel @Evanrocknuma I'm not exactly defending the dev, just submitting that it might have been designed for commentary. It very well might be the same, but you can't deny the sexuality in ME was written at least a little more intelligently.

@ivan_osorio @Evanrocknuma @LesserAngel No... -_- Creator as in genetic designer in the game. I'm not too familiar with Mass Effect, but if it follows the same line as other Sci-Fi media, I'm sure it was meant as a commentary.

@LesserAngel She's a bit different. Her sexuality was part of the concept of her script. She was genetically designed that way by her creator. Quiet is just eroticism for the sake of eroticism.

@goggles123456 @Evanrocknuma When all the popular characters are sexualized, they kind of are being forced to on a societal level. But It's great you stand for them. I just meant to point out the double-standard. We sexualize these characters, but demean/blame women for dressing that way. It's a women's prerogative to dress however they want. People assessing it on that level are missing the point. The problem lies at the men writing these characters as sex symbols.

@001011000101101 It's a bit deeper than that though. You're sort of missing the point. If you follow the feminist movement within cos-play, they frequently mention pressures that create a lose-lose situation. Women dress up as these characters to have fun. "attractive" women are harassed by men asking them to strike poses, making crude remarks etc. "Less attractive" women still dress as these characters that make them feel good, but again, they're demeaned as being sluts, whores, whales, exc. Nobody wins when it's all catered towards men. Women have little choice in the matter.

@gpm23 Precisely! The new Lara and Elizabeth from Bioshock were crafted in such a way to make people fall in love with the character, not based solely on surface aesthetics. I hope more devs follow suit.

This is one of those moments where I'm so enthralled by the fact that someone actually thought it a good idea to open their mouth at-all.

What Keiji is doing here is really-really big. Hopefully we do see other disgruntled triple-A developers follow suit. Imagine if some of the world famous IP's such as Pac-Man, Mega-Man, and others of the like were actually owned by their creators? It would change the industry. Publishers would suddenly have less control and more competition with artists.

I do think there's an underlying problem here though, that is, Nintendo failed to create a device that caters to the most important subsets of gamers in the first place. What if I want a 2DS because I don't want to pay for a feature that strains my eyes? Well, then I have to get this bulky unit marketed for kids. What if you have a kid set on the 3D feature but don't want to risk them breaking the 3DS? Both units are a compromise of each-other, and that kind of sucks.
