The waiting game...

Can't wait honestly..

In the meantime, i am playing The Darkness and Gears 3 (still) for MP...

Back to reality

My last post came out a day before the midnight lunch of ES V: Skyrim and since then i haven't been near a computer to post anything. I was in a land of cold, windy nights, ancient creatures and witnessed a civil war. How about that for a change, ha?

So, anyway i am back and wanted to post a little bit about what i have been doing lately...

Let's start with Gears of War 3. Yes, i have been playing the multiplayer of this game for the past month a half. I especially like the Horde mode and throughly enjoy it. I consider myself a huge fan of the series. Come to think of it, i almost missed out on playing any of the Gears games due to my ignorance. You know, everybody's playing it, so it must be a mainstream game.

Oh well. I also managed to play three new demos. The first one was Final Fantasy XIII-2. It looked slightly better than the FF13, due to it being a little more open, and not so linear. I am not sold on it yet, but we will see.

Next, i played a new RPG called Kingdoms of Amalur. The demo was pretty decent, i would say. The graphics were ok and the game mechanics were nothing special. Well, maybe i am too strict with it, but remember: i am just now coming back from the wonderful lands of Riften, Windhelm, Whiterun etc... My mind is still blown and biased...ROFLOL

The third and last game i played was The Darkness II. Being a big fan of the first one, i immediatelly thought that the second one would SUCK majorly. You know, the Swedish studio Starbreeze is NOT developing it, so i was sceptical. Then i played the demo. It was ok i guess, i hated the fact that Kirk Acevedo is not Jackie anymore. I really liked his role and his take on Estecado. I will buy the game, don't get me wrong, but i have my doubts.

What else? Hmm..Oh yeah..I am currently re-playing Fallout 3 and The Saboteur again. Needless to say, i am waiting for Feburary 7th when i will be getting Fallout New Vegas's Ultimate Edition. Haven't played any of the DLCs for it, because i was waiting on the hard copy.

Well that's about does it for my gaming update...I would have to post some more reviews soon, but do not know when exactly.

Anyway, keep it up guys!

So Skyrim comes out tomorrow...

Tomorrow is the day...The new Elder Scrolls V is coming out and even though i am a bigger fan of its brother (Fallout) i am excited as ever. Skyrim will be my third game that i will be going for a midnight release. It is all set up nicely for me to do an all-nighter as i will be off work on Friday.Ain't that a convenience?!

So, a pot of coffee, half a dozen of donuts and the collector's edition of my most anticipated game this year and i wiill be in for a real great time tomorrow. For those of you, who are getting the game please enjoy!

I will see you in several months...No, really - it's Skyrim time.

Dungeon Siege III reviewed...

I have managed to review another game today. Dungeon Siege 3 was not a successful installment in the series , plain and simple. But the local co-op feature is a blast.

If you enjoyed Dungeon Siege III you might like:

Sacred 2

Dungeon crawler RPG which also has local co-op mode, but with a lot more customizable options.

Enjoy the review!

Until next time,

Long time, no blog...Two new reviews and more coming...

Howdy Gamespotters!

Long time, no see. Actually, i have been around but very inactive when it comes to game reviews, blogging or posting. Anyway, since i have been back from my month vacation in Europe, i started my new job, which so far is going well. I am learning new skills and technologies on a daily basis, which in turn makes me a bit more productive and experienced developer. Which in turn has the potential to make me a little more profitable for my company, which in turn would make my pockets a little havier, i hope.

I started preparing for my second IT Certification, which i plan on taking by the end of the year. The Java community and overseers are coming up with new versions of old certs, or entirely new certifications like there is no tomorrow. Bottom line is: i have to catch up.

But enough about work and careers. I have finished a total of four new games during the time i have been away from this place. I managed to finally review a couple of them. Here is Deus Ex: Human Revolution..

Anyway, should you like Deus Ex: HR, i would definitely recommend the Mass Effect series and Alpha Protocol. Both of them are very similar to Deus Ex, even though Alpha Protocol is not as good gameplay-wise, but still a very good title. I really should not say anything about the Mass Effect Series, since we all know how awesome it is, even though the second installment steered clear from the RPG as a genre.

My second review for today would be an amazing psychological action shooter called Shadows of the Damned.

Should you like it, i can definitely recommend Deadly Premonition. It is the sleeper hit of 2010, even though a lot of gamers did not like it due to dated controls and graphics. But the game is absolutely amazing!

Well, as i said, i have a couple of more reviews coming and i will try to have them completed before Skyrim comes out. Because when this earth-life-cosmos-shattering event happens finally, i will disappear from the face of the world. I am sure you know what i mean.

In the meantime, i will be playing Rage. I am still waiting for it to be delivered and i am hoping i can finish it within a couple of sittings this weekend. Darn it, the weekend seems so short...

A couple of demos i have played recently were Forza Motorsport 4 and the new Football Manager 2012. I have to say the new FM 2012 looks great and avid football (soccer) fans like me would be licking their lips when the full version comes out later this month.

What else? Oh yeah...My Capitals in the NHL are six and zero as far as win/loss ratio, so i am very happy about it. Well, there is the big clash tomorrow with Detroit Red Wings...Go Caps, go Ovi!

See you next time folks and enjoy the reviews!

Portal 2 Reviewed...

If you liked Portal 2, then you might like:

Portal - more of the same as some would say. But yeah, my suggestion would be to play the first Portal game, so you can have an idea of what happens with the story.

Half Life Series - This Valve-developed series has a lot of Portal and Portal 2 reference and it also includes puzzles and similar game mechanics and physics.

LA NOIRE reviewed...

If you liked LA NOIRE...you would probably like:

Mafia 2

Mafia 2 is very similar to LA NOIRE, because it takes place in a similar location and setting, has an outstanding story and is open-world game. Mafia 2 however does not have any side quests and it is strictly a main story/campaign game.

GTA IV

Both LA NOIRE and GTA IV are strongly linked together due to both being Rockstar games, even though LA NOIRE was just published and not deveoped by them. Both have great stories and are open-world, but GTA IV takes place in modern times and has a lot more gunplay.

Deadly Premonition

I am suggesting Deadly Premonition, due to its investigative game mechanics. In both games you investigate gruisome murders and try to discover the truth. Other than that both games are very different with DP lacking in graphis and controls, compared to LA NOIRE.

Arividerci!

Hi there everyone!

I just wanted to say final words before flying out of the country for a vacation. In fact, my flight is 7 hours away and i am getting my morning cup of coffee, along with a crispy bagel...

Anyway, i have played Catherine's demo and this game seems very unique - something i would definitely be purchasing once i get back. Along with many more...I have also been playing the Cooperative Mode of Portal 2 and i am quite liking it. Not that i had any doubts, but thought i would mention it.

Finally, i want to say that i have an employment offer on the table. These past two weeks have been quite positive for me, actually. A vacation in Europe, a new, more profitable and better job waiting for me when i get back and a ton of great games that are coming out soon. What more could a person want really!... ;-):D Well, beside good health, that is...

Well, this is it for now. Next time i blog or post a review (because two are due), would be from distant Europe...

Keep in touch,

EvilSelf...

Vacation time finally...

Well, it has been a busy period for me lately. After I had achieved my first IT certification, it was a time of joy, laughter and positive mood. I spent a fair amount of time deciding what to do next – jump into the "black hole" called job market or pursue another form of certification. Well, why not both? You know, enhance your skills while job hunting! Duh, it is not a rocket science.

Anyway, this coming week I am leaving for a month-long vacation in Europe. Well, it will not be a "vacation" per se, since I still have to do some of my current job duties (I am the only that does what I do in my company), but the beauty of the IT industry is that you can be halfway across the world and still do your job. The beauty or the con of it? I am not sure which one yet, but I will make sure I let you all know soon…."wink"wink"

On the gaming side of things, I finished both LA NOIRE and Portal 2, so expect some thorough reviews and game recommendations soon. I have been playing a lot of Fifa 11 lately just to kill time and have not really played or bought anything new. Actually, scratch that. I DID purchase Final Fantasy IV The Complete Edition for my PSP. I love having a new game that I can enjoy while on a plane.

Other than that, nothing new. I am getting old darn it and I am so impatient about things in life, you know. A nicer car, a nicer home, better, more prosperous job. But all this cannot happen out of nowhere. I know that good things in life take time, but my impatience sometimes is killing me, mentally.

Until next time folks and stay away from the heat,

EvilSelf

Finally!

After 4 months of dedication and hard work, 3600 pages read, 20 tests taken and enormous amounts of coffee intake....I did it!
