This would make for an excellent blog entry

The only reason why this is even an issue is that computer nerds make new accounts to argue about how better the PC is for gaming, etc. It really gets annoying and they don't seem to get it through their thick straw that consoles are more attractive to game developers than PCs because gaming PCs are not even close to mainstream. They are gaining ground, but it's never going to beat consoles for the general consumer. In addition, I don't give a **** that I have a gaming laptop. If I can't play Uncharted, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Infamous, etc. then I won't be happy. It's all about the games and consoles offer good games. Graphics aren't everything.
(this is coming from me who prefers all FPS, RTS, and RPGs on the PC)
1- The Madden games now blow out every football game in the past.....the genre has just gotten stale and hasn't had enough improvements. Its not like 2ks games are better, in fact 2k5 is horse crap compared to Madden now, the presentation is better 2- This games issues seemed to focus on -Inconsistant AI in terms of blocking schemes, the unstoppable QB sneak, presentation issues both visual and audio positives -Most realistic passing game in a Madden game -Online Franchises/Coop mode work extremely well, just need to be fleshed out -The Defensive AI is extremely good.....in somewhat of a bad way as well though. jg4xchamp
Madden does not 'blow out every football in the past'. It took EA 5 years to step in the direction of an actual football simulation rather than an football arcade-like game. The past madden's has a unrealistically fast game speed that didn't seem natural and older madden's had bulky player models (this is fixed now, they look great).
2k5's presentation is just as good and the gameplay is STILL better. 2k5 mainly just lacks in it's visuals and player animations in comparison to Madden 10 (which is understandable). It's sad though that Madden 10 still has problems with 'tron jogging'. 2k5's VIP system was brilliant for recording your gameplay tendencies and recording all your statistics. You could technically play yourself in a match if you wanted using this system OR other people's VIP profiles online once you get plenty of games under you.
In response to your posititves:
- Madden's passing game is the more realistic that it's ever been in it's series, but I wish EA would just go ahead and copy NFL 2k5s drop step system, which they've incorporated into the passing gameplay. It's much more realistic and proper and once you master this simple aspect of the game, then you can get into nice passing rhythms because you're linking the timing of the drop steps to when you SHOULD pass to a WR who is running their route.
- The defensive AI is good and it's a bad way. One thing I can't stand about all Madden's is that LBs and CBs sometimes have the superhuman ability to compeltely accelerate, jump in the air, and intercept passes after the WR they defend has clearly beaten them. On all these reviews, they STILL say that INTs occur far to often and the unrealistic defensive AI is the problem. It's stupid when you see people play Madden and they score half their points from INTs returned for touchdowns.

And what's your point? That 2K CAN'T make a good football game?
That's just ludicrous. They obviously have the credentials (their original NFL games were top tier) and if you give them the NFL license they'll do wonders with it. I honestly don't see why you feel they don't even have the POTENTIAL to make a qaulity football game.
2K has always made crap for football games
They're designed for the people who play games and don't follow sports, they're NOTHING at all like the actual game
Running was horrible, blocking was horrible, passing was horrible, it was nothing at all like the real sport
That's why when EA and 2K both had the chance to get the NFL to give them the license 2K lost, the NFL did not want 2K making an inferior product to showcase their sport.
Know what would have happened if 2K got the license?
All Pro Football 2K8, just another example of how far away from the sport of football 2K is.
joke post of the dayWho is rumoring a price drop to $149? The Ars Technica mole didn't say ANYTHING about the arcade model. He only mentioned the PS3 Slim coming and the Elite becoming $299 and phasing out the 60gig (in which he was spot on).
A $149 arcade makes sense to be speculating, but a PS3 Slim and some kind of price cut on a PS3 is waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy more certain than a $149 arcade.
It's dumb calling it "better than halo". If he would have said it's "more fun game than Halo" then I wouldn't be surprised with that claim at all considering I find playing super smash bros 64 with my cousins (who are good so its a challenge) more fun than playing Halo 3 online.
who cares what they think? A $299 PS3 is great for gaming in general since it becomes more affordable for people to play some of these awesome games like Uncharted 2. As long as it's a reliable console, we are going to have a console which can play a lot of greats games, can double as a media extender and blu-ray player.
