I thought the demo was ok. That section only really shows off some of the lighting, but it doesn't show off the graphics that much. Don't get me wrong it looked great, but I was expecting it to best RE5's graphics and imo it only met them(save for the lighting which is vastly superior in KZ2). There was a lot more going on in KZ2 than in RE5 though. One thing that I didn't like was how the feedback from the Magnum on the controller was very weak compared to the assult rifles. The magnum should kick the controller a lot more than it does. Other than that, It was cool. It was only about 8 minutes long so its hard to judge an entire game in that time frame. Its still a day one buy. I'm gonna try playing the Demo a bunch more times. I didn't like the RE5 demo much when I played it the first couple of times, but I got used to it, and now its a lot of fun.

*edit*

I forgot to add that the water also looks amazing. The best water I've seen since Crysis.

[QUOTE="TREAL_Since"] Cover should definitely have a toggle option. That's the main gripe I have. It sucks to have to hold both L2 and L1 to take cover and iron sight at the same time :(. Something to get used to.TREAL_Since

You know what, this is absolutely true. It is akward to Hold L2 for cover and hold L1 to zoom. I tried it and switched to tap L1 to zoom in and out, and it works better. I also don't like you have to hold L2 to keep crouched. They should have added a toggle action for that. They should just let you map your buttons how you please tbo. It sucks when they force you to use presets.

Actually... I take back what I said. The controls are fine. If you play on the standard layout iron sight is set to R3. Makes cover + iron sight much easier. This is the way the devs intended players to play. This isn't COD4 after all, it's KZ2.

I was just about to note this, for cover..the standard controls are a must....unless you want to hold the L1 and 2 buttons together at the same time, which isn't comfortable. Both way work for me, honestly.

[QUOTE="McdonaIdsGuy"] What do you really mean with that?McdonaIdsGuy

What it says. there was a lot more moving, and enemies, explosions,Friendlies tending to wounded, squad mates doing work on the helghast, and craft flying over head, and water moving realistically, great AI. Lots of stuff happening. RE5 is more about tight corriders, and that sense of fear that the Executioner or Chainsaw tagini is going to come up on you while your not looking. The only thing moving in RE5 is you, and the enemies and if you explode a barrel. Not much going on at all. The hanging clothes don't even move, they are like walls. Doesn't keep it from being a good game, but KZ2 has a lot more happening at once and no slow down.

But that's only the first level and it needs to be like that (is a full scale invasion, they need to keep the cinematic feel)and not all levels are going to be like that (that's what 1 of the developers say a while ago),we haven't see the other RE5 levels and the hanging clothes move in RE5 .

As much as i love RE5, it won't be as technical as Killzone 2, Simply because ones a war shooter and the other isn't. K2 has a reason to be technical and overall have much more going on, on screen. (not just the amount of enemies on screen). RE5 will be pulling of a lot of effects at one time, but i doubt anything like Killzone 2 concerning background chaos..it doesn't need to. RE5 IMO, Has more detailed character models over killzone 2 (not by much) but K2 has much more detail textures. Again, capcom won't be pulling any of the stuff that Killzone 2 is doing, isn't the same type of game. RE5 will have some massive level designs, that's for sure, the draw distance is already amazing.

A good bit from the latest GS preview:

"But in our personal experience, the quirky controls weren't much of a hindrance. Once you take a moment to get used to them, you'll likely come to appreciate them for the deliberate nature in which you'll face every minor scuffle. You get a good appreciation for the smaller battles, never feeling like you're just slicing through a huge swath of undead humanity."

That quote pretty much sums up the way I feel about RE5's core gameplay.

[QUOTE="Eyezonmii"][QUOTE="W1NGMAN-"]

So what the hell is RE5 suppose to be? A Survival Horror game or TPS? Because that demo sure as hell wasn't scary and the controls were too damn clunky to be considered a TPS.

Capcom must be confused as well.

3picuri3
What is wrong with people? How can you judge a game by its demo? Read the reviews, there are plenty of dark moments in the game, The game is more action/horror now, but still loosely SURVIVAL HORROR. BTW, RE was never scary. Thanks to Co-op and stop and shoot gameplay, the game manages to keep that tension and survival aspect.....love it. Like previous RE titles.

last i checked that's what a demo was for. let me spin this around for a minute. for everyone. -What is wrong with people? How can you judge a game by it's demo- (your words) you're judging it by a demo and other peoples impressions. who's in the right here? lol. hypocritical to judge others based on their impressions of a demo when all you have is impressions of the demo and subjective opinions from a few early reviews.

Doesn't bother you when people act as if the DEMO is all RE5 has to offer? Already concluding RE5 isn't horror and saying RE5 is da DAYLIGHT RE5 is DA SUX. I understand peoples opinions on the controls, but GEEEZUS, wait untill the full game before judging it.

I gave in and played the demo, loved it! Everything about it was pure bad ass.

The only problem I had was aiming and controlling the guns while firing lol. The one gripe I have with it is I prefer to hold on to the zoom button instead of pressing it once to zoom in and once to zoom out.

Other than that, pure awesomeness. Glad for GG.

Chutebox
You do know you can change that, so when you hold the zoom button in (L1) it zooms in... and when you let go it zooms out, right? tick the square box in the controller settings....;)

[QUOTE="Eyezonmii"][QUOTE="Huff"]I think the depth of field (i think thats what it is)effects are a bit overdone. Its a little too blurry for my tastes. I think that the limited color palette and darkness, make the effects (like explosions) look out of place and a too bright. Like I said earlier, I don't think that the graphics are bad... just not as good as I expected. Huff
You do know all that is REALISTIC right, the depth of field, effects, etc...of course Devs want to make it look dramatic and what not. But overall, visually what Killzone 2 doesn't isn't overblown, i guess to your liking, but what exactly are you comparing it too? You say you didn't expect it to be like this, yet had years of footage to go by, nothings changed. Don't think you can critisize an explosion, Looks out of place, don't get that. So your beef isn't detail or textures, but how everything reacts and happens? Hope you weren't watch that CGI trailer on a daily bases, lol. To each there own i spose.

Here's the strange thing. I liked the look of it better in the years of videos. (no not the CGI) When it was actually on my TV i thought that it looked worse??? I hope that when I see some of the other levels I'll come to appreciate it a little more. Before you suggest it, no my tv isnt the problem. I'm just apparently out of whack with the world's opinion of amazing graphics.

I believe those YEARS of video's didn't have that particular level shown right? Were you going by the Darker, lightning levels? I can only imagine how good those darker/moody levels will look. I'm sure you'll be very impressive come the final game.

[QUOTE="Eyezonmii"]Can't believe you think that. Everything, VISUALLY is top notch..anyone will tell you this...hell reviews have. But thats your opinion. Antikyth3ra

Everything but the 2d Weapon models while in cover.. I can't believe they tried to pass that by. If you slow down the transition into cover you can see when the weapon becomes 2d. Might i had it is a really high detail 2s model.

Haven't noticed, if true, hopefully the final build fixed that. It is a Demo after all.

So who else thought the sound was awesome in this game? Really makes the game come to life on a 5.1 system.Teufelhuhn
Incredible on my 5.1 set...You can hear every little thing. Did the demo support 7.1 surround?

[QUOTE="Eyezonmii"][QUOTE="Huff"]Right, I'm not bashing anyone for thinking differently. I guess the graphics just aren't my "cup of tea"TREAL_Since
Mind telling me what exactly you don't fancy about the graphics?

You really gotta take into account all of what going on and what other graphical aspects are done right. So far this gen other graphical categories such as animations, post processing effects, and lighting have been somewhat overlooked. Devs simply weren't giong to new lengths as textures were usually the main focus. KZ2 does many things amazingly well as far as graphics even if the textures aren't as super crisp as Halo 3 or RE5.

Wait wait, you just said textures aren't as super crisp as RE5, I beg to differ, unless you don't mean actual DETAIL, K2 textures are much more detailed and crisp, IMO. RE5 textures are greatly toned down from close range (detail wise), due to draw distance and insanely detailed character models, IMO. Considering what K2 does on a technical level....the textures are dam fine. ( i know you know, just throwing that out there)
