Pioneer VSX-D512 home theater system paired with 5 Wharfedale speakers around the room. They're not optimally aimed at the computer though, my Wii and TV are on the top priority.

Only thing I know bout Splinter Cell is the name. It's been years since I last played Thief so I can't really remember how it played. All I can remember is that it was quite free when it comes to how you complete the missions. I need to go see if my friend still has the game disks.. I wanna get to it again.

You mean the old Thief series? It was wonderful. Being a realtime game it was a bit of a hassle for me personally but other than that I'd give it 9.

In some ways that might even work.. RPG tends to go well with adventure games, yet what defines adventure? When you really think about it nearly every game can be considered an adventure game. Anyways, strategy and RPG go well together. Most of the time puzzles go well with any genre. Personally I didn't like Oblivion and its predecessors that much. Sure I played them and they were good, but realtime fights aren't for me. I enjoy a lot more if I can take my time thinking what I do, like for example Fallout, or if I can pause a game like in Baldur's Gates. Soooo, long story short, some merges might work, but most of the time I don't think they will. In movies breaking the genre boundaries is great, you'd never know what happens, but in games there's different ways of accomplishing that.

Sounds a lot like Monkey Island series, but no green shirt in those. How about Quest for Glory series or King's Quests?

You could try Ultima online on a freeshard;) Im playing currently and having a blast. But the game is for hardcore people lol:P The graphics arent great but its the mmo that started it all! Yes before the first EQ (EQ was the first 3d mmo). The game itselft is 13-14 (maybe more?) years old but by far the best mmo ive played hands down! Ive played WoW, LOTRO, AoC, a bit of Vanguard and UO trumps those games easily!

There are no levels, the game uses a skill system.

Your character can look 100% unique from everyone else and still easy to make look cool!

housing system

corpse looting (yes people can kill you and take all your stuff or you can do the same to them!)

You can be a theif and and steal stuff from other peoples inventories

There is always something to do

! Factions you can join to have faction wars, or your guild can be at war with other guilds! or just FFA pvp! Whatever you want to do!

Oooh the game is VERY challenging too, as you have read. Those are a few of the sweet aspects from it. I will say this, this game is NOT for carebears!

Been meaning to try UO for a long time. After seeing that post I might just take a look at it.

I didn't think WoW was that addicting. Played it for about a year and got tired. Ran out of things to do, or should I say ran out of interesting things to do. Like mentioned above of course cancel the account so you won't pay in vain. Those games to replace WoW pretty much suck in my opinion. If you like games like WoW in general then pick some single player RPG instead, maybe Baldur's Gate series, Neverwinter Nights, something like that. Good thing about those games is that you prolly enjoy them (judging by how much you like WoW) and they let you do stuff at your own pace; Play whenever you feel like it, no guildmates asking you to raid with them and stuff. And one last thing - cancel the account so you won't log back in during some lonely evening.

Big post, I like it.. though some info was still missing so I can't give exact recommendation.

Played WoW myself for a year and got to 80 and all. Looks nice, but the character development is a bit too hollow, especially with that amount of people. Not enough usable gear at high levels. Pretty much there's only one way to spec and gear in order to be good. If I'm playing MMO I want to be unique.

Someone mentioned Dofus up there. Played it, was nice, but something was just missing. Also I don't think the developers are making it anymore. Think they're working on a new game right now, can't remember the name though.

Right now I'm playing Anarchy Online once more. Used to play it before WoW but I'm back again. It's old, still looks decent, definitely not good, but decent. There's some sort of graphics booster coming, maybe this year, but it's been announced a few times already and still it's not there. Also the market and prices are a bit screwed with the amount of money sellers nowadays. Actually when you think about it this game is screwed. Still, AO has the best and most detailed character development I've ever seen. Also the amount of usable gear and the details on guns and stuff. If only they'd take the item/character system and make a new game with them. Also the basic game is free, while the expansions cost and there's monthly fee for expansion players too. Even if you're not going to play it I highly recommend you to take a look at the character development options there.

Eagerly waiting for Fallout MMO myself. Dunno when it's released though,
