FetusZero Blog

2 people invading my life!

I'm talking about you two guys who tagged me! When red Forte's blog and he was talking against the whole tagging thing, I was like "you can tag people o.o" and only after that, by reading someone elses blog, I found out what he was talking about lol. No need to say who tagged me, you very well know who you are. Just know that the others don't have to tag me anymore cause I'm doing that stuff right now lol. So 5 things you might not know about me..hard to choose 5 things, since ya'll already know my job and what not and a bunch of other things. Let's try:

1. I woke up this morning with a very bad nerve cramp or something in my leg and it still hurts 2 hours later and probably will all day.

2. Me and my ex are on the path of getting back together, but it is still pretty vague so it might not happen. (yes, my ex. I know some people would never consider getting back with an ex girlfriend, but the day they'll experience what I experienced they might think twice about it before saying they'd never do that)

3. I'm better than Uhero on Guitar Hero, I can actually beat most of the songs on expert but the only one I can beat entirely is Guitar Hero 1, I fail at the last 2-3 songs of the other GH games excluding Rock's the 80's since I never played it. (I know, cheap shot lol. But hey, it's harder than we think finding 5 things people don't know!)

4. I've actually been doing music on my own, by myself, for aprox. 5 years. Don't ask to hear it, I've removed everything from MySpace lol.

5. Sometimes I seem to know alot about computers, but I actually don't know anything other than OS and softwares. Hardware side I don't know ****.

To the disapointement of NOT many lol, I won't tag anyone else.

Time to move on.

Now that I've gotten used to it, once I've been through it, it is time to move on. Time to go play with the other grown up people. Move on from what tthough? Linux!

See, I have been using the distro known as FreeSpire (LinSpire is the shareware version) which is probably the most user friendly Linux distro avaible out there. So now that I've gotten a bit more used to how Linux works in it's core, I feel it is time to move on to a less user friendly distro. I wouldn't say I am a Linux pro, but I can get things working when I need to. I still have a long way to go, but I'll only go further by using another distro. For this, I've chosen the almighty Ubuntu Studio distro.

Ubuntu Studio basicaly is like Ubuntu but with a special theme unique to the distro and is aimed toward creativity, as the name implies. Most distros, as I've explained before, can be burn to a CD and used as a Live CD, meaning you can boot the OS straight off the CD and try it out before installing it. Ubuntu Studio does not have that option though and needs to be on DVD due to it's size being 100MB over the 700MB limit of a normal CD-R.

Ubuntu Studio comes with alot of different software specialised for Audio recording and editing, 2D and 3D art creation and of course, a bunch of Video editing tools and what not. It claims to bring both an amateur and professional utility, however you plan to use it is up to you.

Hopefully it'll work well. I've seen screenshots, but nothing to tell me how the softwares will work and what not since they're only screenshots, but the theme definately is the kind of theme I'd like to have lol. For the worst, if everything in it is useless, I can always install Ubuntu only and check out for adding the theme of Studio and maybe even some programs. I believe you can install Ubuntu and update it to Studio, but there's something that Studio has that the normal Ubuntu distro can't have, which I totally forgot what it is.

All of this might eventually put an end to my Windows needs since the distro in question means that Linux is finally starting to being better in the multimedia creation side. This is the first step and the first distro to be aimed at multimedia editing and production, which will of course, later on, become even better and continue to make Linux grow into the multimedia world. How could this put a stop to my Windows needs? I use windows primarly for multimedia editing and production.

I'd still need Windows for one thing: Playing MSN games with my ex girlfriend lol.

So during the whole process, I might or might not visit GameSpot on a daily basis. It depends how well it goes. I've already went and burn on DVD all the stuff I wanted to back-up. Last step which might be engaged tonight is to install Ubuntu Studio and try to get it to work online since I've had minimal success with making my Wireless network work with Ubuntu before. Soon, I'll see you all from a new perspective! Almost lol.

Wish me good luck with all of this, I'll sure need it. Actually, don't. I've never really liked when people wish me good luck so I still wonder why i say this sometimes lol.

Lots of news..sort of.

Yep, I actually wrote the entire blog once and then for some reason, my computer crashed, so I have to rewrite it all over again lol. So here we go:

First of all, I've got a new digital camera. It isn't my biggest news, but I put it first because I have used it for taking pictures that you'll find in this post. Yep! I wanted to get a Sony at first, but they were only selling the demo stand product (that explains its price! lol) and well they had lost the battery, so they weren't allowed to sell me it anyway. So I bought a Fujifilm Finepix A820 armed with 8.3 Mega Pixels. The cam works pretty well and I am pleased with it, despite it devouring batteries when you film with it, since yes, you can record videos with sound with my digital camera. That means more video game videos fronm me! Muahahaha. Anyway, lol, that's bout it for the cam. Here's a pic of how my cam exactly is, xept the blue on mine looks darker, probably because they took the picture with alot of light or something.

Finepix A820

Next in the news, probably my biggest news, is that I've got a new car! Yep, I sold my Toyota Tercel for 50 dollars. You heard me right: 50 dollars. My dad bought a new car. so I ended up buying his old car. Quite different than my good ol' 1990 Toyota Tercel, falling apart with rust and having difficulties drive up a minor slope. The car I now have is a 2001 (I think) Hyunday Elantra, which still works like new. Hell yeah, finally got air conditioner in a car, electric windows, CD player, electric doors, whatever. ll that's missing is the removeable roof thing. I took some pictures from my Toyota Tercel, but not of my new car yet. I did so because as everyone always told me, which ended up being true, the hardest car to part paths with always will be your first car and well.. yep I found it quite sad to part ways with my good ol' piece of junk. Might be a piece of junk, but it still was my first car! here are 2 pics of the car that no longer lives.

Tercel 01 Tercel 02

Now, with my digital camera, I have took a new pic of Storm, my lovely tarantula. Actually I took many, but I'll only show you my favorite one. You'll have no difficulties knowing why it is my favorite lol. I probably have more news to discuss with all ya'll, but I'll leave them for other blogs. So this is my grand final, the new picture of Storm!

Storm Cricket Be sure to click on it for a bigger view ;p yes, that is a cricket.

Almost Top 5 Series

This is sort of my worh of mention post; The series that crossed my mind when doing my Top 5. There isn't many actually, but these were close to being in the countdown. After that my normal blog post will start and I've got stuff to show ya'll and stuff to tell ya'll ;p

I'll also put only two images for each.

Castlevania

CV NES CV DXC PSP

Castlevania definately is a great series. Unfortunately, I have yet to play the entire series, but the little I have played made it part of my favorite series, maybe up for a top 10 though.

Ghosts 'N Goblins

GNG NES SGNG SNES

Ghosts 'N Goblins is actually known under several names such as Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts as shown in the images. There's also alot of games that were spawned from it such as Demon's Crest on the SNES. Games with alot of challenge due to their extreme difficulty, such as getting hit twice and dying. Definately part of my favorite series ever although I'm not even sure I ever beat one the games. ou know it's the games that you reach the end, beat the final boss, you're all excited but that they tell you that you didn't defeat him with the appropriate weapon so they put you back at the beginning with a harder difficulty level and with the weapon you have to use finally avaible? Yep, you actually have to beat it twice to actually beat it. I reached the final boss the second time through, but I never beat it.

The Legend of Zelda

LOZ NES LOZ N64

The Legend of Zelda is probably the biggest game to be a worldwide favorite. My actual favorite from the series is Minish Cap for the GBA, but I put these two images as to my eyes they are the ones that made Zelda what it is today. Definately a game that appears in most people's top 10, but not everyone, only almost.

Well that's bout it really..yep..that quick. I can't think of any other games worth of mention for me. So that's bout it! This is the end of my top 5 series of all time, finally!

.;drums roll;. #1!

it is finally that time..time for me to reveal my favorite series of all time which from the beginning was kept for my absolute top series. Most of you probably already know it anyway ;p

#1

Megaman/Megaman X/Megaman Zero/Megaman ZX

MMAC PS2 MMXC PS2 MMZ GBA MMZX DS

Yep, as you all probably knew, my favorite top series is Megaman. Why include all these Megaman series? Because they are canon. Although technically Megaman Zero is my favorite of them all, I just can't put only MMZ and forget what started it all and the sequel to the Zero series either. I would of included Megaman Legends since it is suspected to come after ZX, but speculations are speculations, therefore I did not include it.

I've been a fan of Megaman since I was 4 years old, bac in the days of Megaman 2, where I'd get my ass kicked everytime I'd play it. Megaman has come across so many years, now being 20 years old (first Rockman released in japan in 1987 December 17th; yes I even know it's birthday) and still lives to this day. MM also spread over numerous consoles which I'll make a small breakdown here:

MM1 to 6: NES
MMI to MMV: GB
MM7/MMX to MMX3: SNES
MM8/MMX4 to MMX6: PS1
MMX7 to MMX8: PS2
MMZ to MMZ4/Megaman & Bass: GBA
MMZX to MMZXA: DS

I skiped some titles, such as the original japan released only games that were on previous consoles or what not (such as Rockman & Forte on the SNES which is known as Megaman & Bass on the GBA over here) or Megaman Soccer which was also on SNES, etc. I skiped the entire Battle Network/Star Force series because I honestly hate them. I also ommited to include the remakes such as Megaman Maverick Hunter X and Megaman Powered-Up for the PSP, although I own them and totally love them as much as the originals.

There isn't much you need to know storywise, well there is alot, but it would be too long to explain the entire thing. Just know that all of these games (in my favorite series) are 2D Side Scroller games, much like a shhot-em-up kind of game. The first Megaman games were known for their difficulty, which was lowered in the X series, which came back to being extremly difficult in the Zero series (with what you call Cyber-Elves making it easier for less hardcore fans of the series) back to a more, normal, average difficulty with the ZX games. Yet, for some reason, I still love it and play it every now and then. On every December 17th I'll usually sit down and start playing all these games starting with MM1 and go up to the last one they released, today being Megaman ZX Advent. Of course that takes me a long time although most of the Megaman games can easily be done between 1 to 3 hours of gameplay. I just have too many other games to concentrate only on these ones, but if there's something I can tell you is that I know almost all of them by heart, 100% complete, everything. These are the games I probably played the most often in my life out of every single games that exist out there. That's more often than Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario Bros 3 combined!

Top 5 Series: #2

I know this countdown goes by fast since I post a new number every night, but hey, I've got many other things to talk about so I wanna get this countdown done with lol.

#2

Silent Hill

SH PS1 SH2 PS2 SH3 PS2 SH0 PSP

Wondering if Uhero and Flame did knew my next numbers, Silent Hill takes on #2 in this countdown. For the information, I did not put the image of Silent Hill 4: The Room because as I said, I try to keep it at 4 images only and so far SH4 was the less good game in the series. Anyway, on with it.

Silent Hill has been a long time favorite, much before any of the previous games in my countdown. I did play Metal Gear Solid before even knowing the existence of Silent Hill, but it didn't hook me up the way SH did. The reason why Silent Hill made it one spot higher than God of War is because although I'll play it less often, Silent Hill has the ability to literally transport your soul, your mind, into it's own world, breaking away any borders your sanity might have. Once you start playing, you are perfectly fine. While you are playing, nothing matters anymore but making it out alive and avoiding anything that looks suspicious, whether it is even something or not; you don't care, you just avoid it. After you're done playing, you go back to your normal self and you are fine. That's what comes and gets me the most in Silent Hill. To make these sentences into one word: Immersion. It is the only horror game out there with such a good immersion feeling. I'm not talking about Resident Evil feeling where you know when something will happen anyway, or a Fatal Frame feeling where there's nothing else but ghosts, yet it still scares you. More like a feeling of insecurity, madness, darkness, confusion, insanity. Basicaly a nightmare come true. Not any kind of nightmare, but THE nightmare. That's what Silent Hill is all about. I'll give an example to describe the feeling and sorry to the Resident Evil fans out there since I'll use RE in my example: I play Resident Evil for the first time. It's scary, quite a good game and everything. I play it a second time, why? The fear factor is gone now, so all that's left is the action part of the game of shooting at everything that moves. I play Silent Hill for the first time. It's scary. Literally wicked, I don't feel like advancing anymore, but I still do. I play it a second time, I know what the hell is happening and where is everything, yet once again I still don't feel like advancing because I am scared of what will happen, although I do know what will happen. That's the kind of feeling that, to my eyes, makes the whole difference between a simple action shoot-everything-in-sight horror thing and pure horror like Silent Hill. That lil' girl in Silent Hill for PlayStation One? I know who she is, I know what she does, I know everything yet everytime I cross path with her, even after the 483756236th time, I still end up emptying my shotgun shells entirely on her for absolutly nothing. Silent Hill is all about the immersion of one's sane mind to an entire new world, filled with everything but sanity and it'll remain like this for the rest of your days, unless you actually quit playing it.

Top 5 series: #3

#3

God of War

GoW PS2 GoWII PS2 GoW CoO PSP

Taking its place in the spot #3 of my 5 Top Series is the popular games known as God of War, which first appeared on PS2 and spawned a sequel for PS2, as well as prequel on PSP, along with an upcoming game for PS3. I've had a really hard time on deciding whether to put it as #3 or #2 for the fact that I'll find myself playing it more often than my #2, but in the end, I decided to make it #3 which the reasons will be unveilled whenever I make my #2 post.

God of War is everything an angry gamer needs. You play as Kratos and you have only one thing in mind: Being pissed off at something. Of course, the series follow a basic, easy to understand, yet amazing story line which is captivating. But the captivation doesn't stop there: It truly takes form under the amazing visuals presented to you within the games. The last time I saw a game so beautiful visually was in Shadow of the Colossus. You will find yourself in several places relevant of mythology, ancient greece, whatever and etc. as you battle your way through hords of weird mythological creatures, ranging from a simple skeleton warrior to huge cyclops to, of course, gods themselves. Although the story line is something I truely admire from the game, you don't actually need to follow it. You can pick up God of War just went you're angry, pissed off, or whatever making you feel like being as brutal as you could ever be. Stabbing people, cutting their heads off, stomping their heads, anything you can possibly think that is brutal and includes a head you will find it in here. I have to admit though that what truely keeps me hooked on the series is the button sequences when encountering bosses or certain enemies. You will grapple them and then series of buttons or movements will appear on screen, which you must do perfectly in order to make some wicked, REALLY wicked battle scenes. Some people might find this boring, but I love it ALOT. I bet many other games does this too, but they simply don't do it as well as God of War does it. From the PS2 to the PSP, each game is a masterpiece and feels unique. God of War is definately an experience you do not want to miss, whether it be about combat, combos, visuals, graphics, controls, whatever else you can fit in there or think of.

Top 5 Series: #4

#4

Metal Gear Solid

MGS PS1 MGS2 PS2 MGS3 PS2 MGS PO PSP

Taking #4 spot is Metal Gear Solid. I intend on puting only 4 images per series, hence why Twin Snakes and Guns of the Patriots aren't in there. Metal Gear Solid has been one of my favorite series from back when the first game came out for the PlayStation One. I remember renting that game with a friend and beating it really quickly actually. Was short and kinda easy, but I still loved it and got hooked. I remember being sooo excited when I heard about a sequel, which was far from disapointing. Then followed the other games in the series after the popular, good ol' Metal Gear games, which I do not include in here because I franctly prefer the MGS series themselves, although technically they are part of the same series. Metal Gear Solid is all about tactics, stealth, well thought actions, or good ol' shooting frenzy. There is no actual specific way of playing the game despite what people who claims to be fans say. You feel like going there, unknown to the enemy, never seen like you didn't exist? You can. You feel like going all out and kill everything that moves? You can as well. But the game's true form isn't aquired by playing either of these genres but rather by mixing them both. You can go all sneaky and then take out your gun to take out an enemy that is in the way for you to complete your objective. Most games out there are either pure stealth or pure all out action, while Metal Gear Solid has a perfect blend of both genres making it a very unique experience. On top of that, it has a very deep story line which might seem complicated to follow, but as you see more of it, you understand better and it keeps you interested, simply to actually know what the hell is going on.

Top 5 game series.

I know everyone is doing stuff like "Top games" and Forte just underwent "top 5 games for (insert console)" which he will list his top 5 games for each console. I decided to list my top series instead, since I can't decide on which games specifically of a series. By the way, Night and Donut, I've replied to both your last comments on my last blogs, so if you want you can go read the reply.

By the way, since I am one that talks alot when I go on and ramble about games, I'll make my top 5 in a 5 blog span instead of cramming all that stuff into one blog, knowing that people will check up the image and jump over the text lol. Honestly, most games aren't numbered to my eyes, like #5 is not truely #5, but I do attribute a number for countdown purpose more than anything else. I'll make a 6th blog also, for games worth of mention that did cross my mind when thinking about my choices. I'm still soooooo undecided lol.

#5

Devil May Cry

DMC PS2 DMC2 PS2 DMC3 PS2 DMC4 PS3

Taking the #5 spot is Devil May Cry. Now, I'm kinda sad to give it #5 because they are really good games and well yeah..I give numbers for countdown purpose only, else there wouldn't be any. Anyway, despite DMC2 being not so good, still a good game, but quite disapointing, and despite the fact that I have yet to play DMC4 (you imagine I can't wait to buy a PS3 for it), Devil May Cry stands amongst my favorite series for alot of reasons: Dante is the **** the atmosphere of the game is particularly strange and amazing, etc. The combat system is what makes DMC what it is though. Challenging game with deep combat system, much deeper than people expect. People normally expect DMC to be a button masher hack 'n slash and alot claim that they beat the games by doing the boring button mashing. I tried it, only to prove them wrong. If you button mash and nothing else in DMC, you die within the first 5 minutes. Everything is much more complex than we think. Evading requires alot of skills and practice and landing the attacks at the right moment is all about the good timing and I think that's why many people gets turned down by the game. It's the type of game that, although being in 3D, brings us back to the feeling we had when we first played Ghosts 'N Goblins, or the first Castlevania, or the first Megaman when we were like 4-5 years old. The feeling to kick the **** out of your TV and bring your console to the church because it's been cursed with the evilness of the game. This does not apply to DMC2 though, since it is by far the easiest game of the bunch so far. Perhaps even too easy, which is mostly why I was disapointed with it.

First pay day = God of War

Hell yeah! I said it right! Today was my first pay day and straight when I finished working, first thing I did was go buy God of War: Chains of Olympus for PSP! And a bottle of Jack Daniel's as well as new substrate for my tarantula Storm, but that's another story.

So I finally got my hands on my two most anticipated games for PSP: Silent Hill: Origins and God of War: Chains of Olympus. I can tell you that I'm going to be busy for the next weeks! Along with that, I also started gathering some images and see what I can do for Sam's wallpaper. I have an idea of what to do, but I'll to first check if the images will fit nicely with it and possibly create myself some brushes for GIMP. But again, that's a whole other story!

I got home, ate, put a container in Storm's tank so that eventually I can get her out of there so I can get her out of there to clean the tank and replace the substrate, and then I sat in my bed, put on my headphones and turned on my PSP with Chains of Olympus already loaded in it. Next thing I knew, the game was starting.

I checked around the menus. The options are what we would expect for a game. Subtitles, audio, etc. What really stood out to me was the Treasures. We are used to God of War having a bunch of extras for completing the game and certain tasks and let me tell you that Chains of Olympus has them too. It has alot of challenges for us to take on, which to unlock the first challenge, you need to start by beating the game once, and then you can unlock challenges after challenges. You also got additional costumes, videos and what not.

So it was time to select that option in the menu: Start New Game. Or whatever it was called I already forgot exactly how it was called. Anyway, the game starts with a cut scene and right off puts you into the action in little time, before you even know it. It's purely God of War and I must say that the graphics so far are THE best graphics ever seen for a PSP game. The game, entirely from controls to visuals to whatever you want is purely God of War. The first area pretty much is the demo, but somehow felt harder than the demo and some of the treasure chests holds different stuff than in the demo as well.

In all it's simplicity, so far the game is AMAZING! So check that out: I have two amazing, excellent PSP games to play now; Silent Hill: Origins and God of War: Chains of Olympus. On top of that I've got many games to finish on my PS2, but I bet these will gather some dust in the meantime that I beat my two PSP games.
