New Laptop Accessory + First F.E.A.R. vid

New accessory? Sort of. I bought myself a nice wireless, rechargeable, laser mouse. I bought it mostly to play my PC games, since I gave my old one a long time ago to my dad for his own laptop at work because my dad and "technology" doesn't work very well and a touch pad was too much for him lol. So I had to resort to steal my mom's mouse from her computer all the time, whenever I wanted to play some PC games. So yep, I went and bought my own mouse and it works wonders. This is my first laser mouse so far and I like it. I used to buy optical ones, but soon realised that the faint gloss from the paint of my desk would make the optical light go crazy and I always had to put white papers under it, or find stuff like that, while my new laser mouse works just as well on the desk as if it was any other mouse on a mouse pad. Hurray! It also has 6 buttons, the usual three buttons (left, middle, right) alongside two buttons on the thumb side of the mouse (if you use it with the right hand) and one additional button on the other side. Quite useful I should say, as I was able to attribute the thumb side buttons for Zooming and Slow-Mo in F.E.A.R.

Talking of F.E.A.R., I made my first video of it yesterday night. I called it "Death from Above" because that's basicaly what it is for the enemies. The video is checked EXPLICIT when I uploaded it because of the enemies language upon throwing a grenade to "tentalise" them lol. And yes, at the beginning of the vid you can see a bug, where throwing a grenade from the other side of the room (which I show the other side of the room in the beginning of the room) and have it explode at the same time that they opened the door made them die and disappear partially through the floor. I took a screenshot of that to remember it, but if I started doing this for every single bug I would find in the game, I'd already have thousands of screenshots and videos. But hey, I might just do that evetually, but when I do it, I'll activate God mode, that way I won't have any difficulties recreating the bugs ;p ENJOY!

A little of Fear?

Because I recently bought the PC game F.E.A.R.

Yep, I know I'm not much of a PC gamer, but alot of people told me that one day, I had to play that game. So I bought it from some dude at work for 10$!

The only downside is that the game is in french, but I didn't have any problems finding a patch to change the language to english. It sure needed a big update when I installed it, which took me about an hour to download and install, but now all is good.

The biggest problem was that I didn't feel like being bothered with Virtual Consoles and what not in Linux to play my PC games, so basically installed some "kind" of Windows XP SP2 if you know what I mean. Possibly the only reason I don't care about this is because Windows isn't worth the money they make us pay for it, they should pay us to use Windows instead, and not the opposite.

Anyway, I dual-booted my laptop once again, primary side being Ubuntu 8.04 and secondary side being XP, which I gave it a generous 20GB of space since I was looking at my games and F.E.A.R. states needing at least 5GB of space and Condemned (which I plan on restarting eventually) needing at least 8GB of space, so I told myself that I might as well give XP a generous 20GB instead of 10, like I wanted.

It was funny because in my whole life it was the first time that I installed a Windows OS and end up having ONLY the Recycle Bin on the desktop, nothing else. It was sweet. On it I only installed my HP drivers (graphic, sound, display, synaptics, w-lan), FireFox and Windows Live Messenger so I can keep on chatting with people while I play. I also installed FRAPS in case I want to record something from my PC gaming sessions.

Sure it's not Metal Gear Solid 4 with a PS3, but it cost me 10$ instead of 600 lol. Anyway I still can't afford that PS3 for now, especially with the dentist coming up next week which will steal all of my money, but once that's done I should be able to buy it eventually, soon enough :]

Until then, all the games I have to play, adding F.E.A.R. to the list, will keep me occupied in terms of gaming, that's for sure.

SH: Origins BR #1

Since I haven't written a new blog in a little while and since I don't know what to say other than I also needed to get the bearrings of my front-passenger side wheel on my car (yay, more money to spend on the car), I decided I could post up some small, stupid bugs I came across in Silent Hill: Origins while playing yesterday night. I warn you though, they are pretty apparent bugs, but hey, when you become a tester, let me tell you that you will never play a game the same way that you did before lol. You simply notice every single thing, however small it can be and useless it can be.So yep, "BR" stands for Bug report, if you want. I just feel the urge to report stuff that I find, so as well report them in a blog lol. Sorry to any of the people who thinks this is stupid or boring, but if only you knew..

One of them happened only once, but for those who have played, they know that when you open the map of the area, it does that lil' paper sound and shows you the floor you're on. You can change floors afterwards and stuff, but only after the map has already poped up on screen. Well out of nowhere, for whichever reason that is yet to be disclosed, the sound echoed twice at the same time when I opened up my map and it took me to an entirely different floor than the one where I was. Now, I tried doing this alot of times afterwards, but it would never let me change before the map was completly shown on screen. Weird thing if you ask me.

Another was the total lack of collision between the enemies themselves. If they walk one towards the other, they simply walks through each other, which was quite disturbing to say. I was just standing there, flashlight turned off (yeah, better to keep it turned off in Origins unless you really want trouble), watching these two demonic nurses or whatever the hell they were wander around me as I remained unoticed, and BAM they walked right through each other. It's just a simple bug, for giving the game and the atmosphere, it was more disturbing than anything else lol.

A really minor one, which is really annoying, is the description of the items when choosing the option "examine" when hi-lighting an item in the menu. Why is it annoying? Because some letters of the description will go off screen to the right edge of the screen, which isn't really bothering for the game in overall, but just annoying when reading the descriptions.

I think I'll leave at that for today. Man, if I based my reviews off of how I test video games, they would all get horrible scores, but fortunately, I can still enjoy my games for what they are and for the fun factor, not the test factor ;p

Maybe eventually I'll come here and give you some super duper mega bug that messes everything up, or some really major stuff (much like the one I told about in MGS3 before), but for now, it hasn't happened with the games I've been playing lately.

Final payment for glasses done! and words for Zero

I finally finished paying for my glasses today! Right here, this morning. So that finally makes me one thing less to pay for. Woo!

Oh yeah, and my whippers on my car suddenly decided to work again! We believe it was only because one of them wires tied to the car's battery was pretty loose and caused the whippers to malfunction, since they started working again one day after we tighten it. I don't know exactly the name of them 2 wires tied to the car's battery, sinceI'm a total nood about cars. Good thing I have my dad who has worked around cars for like 30 years or something lol. So anyway, I still need to get the windshield washer motor repaired, but I have already bought that small motor a while ago, so it doesn't really matter and I don't think it'll be too expensive to get that alone repaired. Oh yeah, I'll still be sure to tell the guy to check the whipper's motor, just in case.

I still have to go to the dentist though, so that's where most of my money will go I guess.. Dentist and car payments, but these payments are once every month so let's not really count em in.

Anyway, all of this to say that I might be able to go back up the hill from being extremly poor with barely enough money to put fuel in my car to average, and maybe even buy a PS3 eventually! Now I get my next in 2 weeks, and I doubt I'll have the money for it then because of the dentist and eventual car payment that I'll need to make with that pay, but then the next pay after that is like June 3rd, which maybe I'll be able to afford it then! That'd be sweet wouldn't it be?

I really hate my dentist for taking my money away like this, but I gotta give her something.. both her and her assistant are kinda hot so it's all fine with me. Yes, you heard of hot nurses, hot doctors, hot cops, usually that's what it is about, but me, I've got a hot dentist and a hot dentist assistant. Weird isn't it? If I'm gonna see them often, it's better off that way though!

Words to Zero

So I didn't write this at the top of the blog although I consider it more important, simply because I didn't want people to feel demoralized when reading the rest of my blog which is mostly good news (the rest of the blog, that is), but this isn't. My good and long time GameSpotter friend ZeroSkater left us with a blog to wonder. He said two tornadoes were on his way, and that's all we know. Whether he and his family are fine right now, we don't know. I find it really sad and I hope him and his family were able to find shelter somewhere afe or escape in time. I have no idea when the tornadoes were goin' to hit, npor the delay of the events in between the time he wrote the blog and the natural disaster, so I can only hope the best for him and his family, and all of his neighbors, to all the kids and people out there who can be stuck in this who don't deserve such a tragic end. I do believe that at some point, the humans deserve it because everyday we still keep ****ing up nature out there, but yeah.. you understand me I guess.

My best wishes are with you dude!

My PS3 seems further away now..

Why? Because I have to repair my car's whipers motor. Yep, I already had the get the windshield washer motor thing fixed since it stoped working, not a big deal, I'm able to survive without windshield washer, but without whipers, the second it rains or whatever else, I'm doomed. Just the small motor that makes the whipers work is like $120. How crazy is that!? So let's get things down now:

MGS4 apprently comes out June 12th, which is in 2 weeks.

With the glasses and car to pay I'm already broke right now, but especially more because of the glasses.

I still have $150 left to pay on my glasses which I'll pay thursday when I get my pay, but good news as after this I'm done paying them.

June 17th and 19th I've got appointments to the dentist so that'll be a good $200 if it isn't more.

Now I've got to get my car's whipers fixed, and while being there I'll get the windshield washer motor fixed at the same time. I have no idea how much that will cost in the end, but if I'm lucky it shouldn't be too much. If I'm lucky lol.

mm.. So that's basically a run down of it, and my job isn't making me rich either, it's a really cool job and I love it, I'm certainly not there for the money though else I'd be gone a while ago. On top of it, friday of last week I missed a day because I got really sick, and this last thursday I had a day off out of nowhere, but at least I'm getting both days back since on the monday which was a holiday it's like if I was paid twice since I worked although it was a holiday, and I'm going to work this morning (saturday), so I'm winning these two days back basically.

But it's mostly the car issue that got me swearing yesterday. I was seriously pissed off at my car, but hey, that's having a car. I still plan on getting the PS3/MGS4 bundle next month (since today we are still in May), just probably later than I expected, towards the end of the month, or maybe even at the beginning of July.

Eventually I'll have it, that's for sure, soon enough, just because I want it really bad although Kojima recently said that in the end it probably won't be the last MGS, I've got plenty of other reasons to get, such as it's been ever since its release that I've been waiting to buy a PS3 lol.

By the way, you might see alot of blogs about it lately and that's because the release of the bundle is close, really close, that's the only reason lol.

My level went down!

Because I just had yet another point loss for Censor Bypassing on a blog. I'd give the example, but that's how I got this point loss: by showing an example to someone lol.

This is my third or fourth point loss on gamespot, and something like my 8th or 9th warning overall, therefore I should consider watching myself from now on. And I was so close to being level 32! That's if I wasn't already.

Ah well.

I'm coming Vergil!

Because I fell right back into Devil May Cry 3 these days. I'll explain after telling to Donut5 that I haven't watched 28 Weeks Later yet, because I wanted to watch Alien 3 before lol. So now I have to watch Alien: Resurrection, and anyway I'll watch 28 Days Later before since it'll just be sort of a reminder of the first movie.

Anyway, since I started working as a tester, I started gaming a bit less because I felt that was what I'd do the entire day. s a first time tester in my life I suppose this is norma, as I wasn't used to the job yet or anything, etc.

On top of this, I'd be too concentrated on playing drums in Rock Band lol. Hell yeah the drums are crazy fun and I'm getting very good at it! But this weekend I just poped in Megaman X8 and finished it since I only had to beat it with one of the three characters because I did the rest back then, before getting my new job. So I basicaly cleaned up my Now Playing list.

Right after this, I poped in Devil May Cry 3, knowing that my PS3 time would eventually come, meaning DMC4 would come my way, and I have yet to finish DMC3 for the first time of my life. Got only one thing to say: Why the hell did I stop playing that game!?

It is f****** amazing! I didn't lose much of my skills at the game (though I could be better, that's for sure ;p). But the point is that this game is awesome. I definately will continue playing it until I finish it.

Right now I'm at the sixth mission I think.. I just battled the Demonic GateKeepers which was an awesome fight, where I also got their weapons after beating their asses.

All of this to say that yep, I am finally getting back to my usual gaming whenever I can, which is a good thing since my list is long, containing 7 games I think. Though I could remove Metal Gear Solid 3 from my list since I have already beat it before and I want to concentrate on games I have yet to beat for the first time, along with not knowing if I'll have the time to beat MGS3 before getting the fourth and last title. Such was my plan back then, to replay all of 'em before the biggest release of the year, but yeah, my plan didn't go according to what I wanted lol.

New acquisitions

Sorry for the quick bloggin' here, but hey, I got new stuff!

Firts off is a lanyard. For those who may wonder, yes it's these long cords you wear around the neck. See. at work we have special cards to be able to enter and stuff and we wear these on a lanyard. Thing is the "default" one is kinda boring: a small, plain, black cord. So I got this new one right here:

GoW CoO Lanyard

Yep! A God of War: Chains of Olympus PSP lanyard! Isn't that cool? Hell yeah it is! You can click on it for a bigger picture too. By the way, the cord is black, but shows kinda glossy an greyish because of the flash from my camera

My next acquisition is a new game! Yep, it is. That shows how less painful my teeth are now, since I doubt I would of even considered a new game while suffering from my toothaches. The game I got is one that I've been looking after for a long time, but never had any luck in actually finding it. The game is Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Plus for PSP!

mgs po +

I have no idea what it is about honestly, other than it truly takes form in the online play and that there is in fact a single player mode as well. So yep, it is like taking a deep jump into some kind of mystery as far as what awaits me in this game. Hopefully the single player mode will be enjoyable since I'm not a huge online/multiplayer fan.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, but I also got a third acquisition (yeah I know.. it's alot.. but I have a hard time holding myself back when I enter stores) which is a movie, or rather two movies. I bought the 2-Movie Box Set of 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later.

28 later box set

I never saw the second movie, but I highly enjoyed the first one, so hopefully the second one will be just as good!

And don't worry, I still will have enough money to pay for my PS3/MGS4 bundle since I expect it to be released in late June, and plus, I don't think I'll need any other game until then.. well I hope so lol.

Another departure+Replies to my last blog's comments

I'll start off with my replies to my last blog's comments.

@Zero: I hope I sure can get both, but ya know, if I can't afford it, I simply can't. I sure hope I'll be able to though.

@Navigata: Dental hygiene sure is important. That's something I know lol. I get some tooth extracted or filled in every 6 months or so. It's just crazy. I did ask every dentists I went to if they could simply extract all of em and give me dentures, but none of em wants because I still have some healthy tooth. Now that's stupid.. because eventually I'll get these so fixed tooth extracted as well.

On with the departure of my good friend Sam. Some of you might know him more as SamReallyROXS.

Sam is leaving GameSpot, well, he's um, 2/3 leaving GameSpot, as he might come back once every now and then to check out on what's going on, but still.

I'm writing this blog for him, my good GS fella, because he will be missed!

I hope he will have a good time and will enjoy his time outside of GameSpot, basically that he'll live happily.

If you ever do come back Sam, you can find me right here! A small blog for ya, see ya dude and have a nice time!

I know you probably won't read this blog Sam, but I'm sure you would of appreciated it.

Vicious teeth VS. Bundled PS3 (a $1000 ticket)

I came eat lunch at home yesterday, having plans to call the dentist and see if I could get an appointment before June 19th, cause that was pretty far and the pain was becoming um..quite crazy. Anyway, I say I got lucky because they got a cancellation yesterday, so I got an appointment the same day at 5:45PM. It was a 30 minutes appointment only so she only had time to fix one out of the three tooth that were hurting. I'm pretty sure we got the worst one, cause when I got home, at 7:30 I simply went to bed and slept till 5:30 this morning, which is the time my alarm clock goes off.

I hope it was the worst one, cause my other appointment is far, it's on the 17th of June, which will be a one hour complete examination of the mouth along with one cavity filling of the worst tooth. The complete exam will allow us to see which tooth we need to fix without having to wait for them to hurt as bad as it did this week. Now that's going to cost alot of money.

Plus, June 19th I've got another appointment to finish fixing that tooth with the meds in it.

I mean, it's cool and all, cause I really despise my teeth right now (since when don't I anyway), and I really want to get them fix entirely because I'm sick of suffering because of them and being an ass to people because I'm in a really bad mood when my teeth hurts, and I'm also boring because I don't feel like doing anything.

On the other side, that just came and put a dent in my PS3 plans. Next month I want to buy the 80GB PS3/MGS4 bundle, but next month I also need to go to the dentist twice, which will be damn expensive as well. Will I be able to pay for both is my question. Of course, if I need to choose only one of the two, I'll take the dentist because fixing my teeth is much more important than a console and a game, but it still sucks. Anyway I wouldn't have a choice to pick the dentist, because when my teeth hurt that much I don't even play video games, as I said, I don't feel like doing anything when they hurt.

So I have two choices here:

1) get the teeth fixed and buy the PS3 later

2) get both done and be extremly poor

I personally say that number 2 will happen lol. Why? Because it's f****** Metal Gear Solid 4! That'll cost me alot, at least my glasses will be done paying before that, but not my car. So next week I have to pay 200 for my car, which is basicaly the last week of May.

But in June, it means about 600 for the PS3, 200 for my car at the end of the month (800) and I expect a good 300 for the dentist which ends up at 1100 for the month. Oh yeah, and 60 for the car insurances, so more like 1160 for the month. That's alot of money. I don't even know if I'll have that much lol.
