What were you favorite Genesis games that weren't exactly blockbuster hits in terms of sales or overall recognition?

Mine would have to be Alisia Dragon. In my opinion it truly was an epic action/adventure game that kinda went under the radar both in Japan, and in North America due to minimal exposure and marketing from Sega.

If it happens, I feel it can wait for the next gen. In my opinion, I think making a larger library for the consoles already on the virtual console is probably a much better idea... Sorry Saturn fans, the console and its games weren't that good... Albeit a few titles did make me smile...

jamesm7786

Panzer Dragon, Panzer Dragon Zwei, Nights, Fighting Vipers, Virtua Fighter 2, Astal, Sega Rally, Virtual On, Burning Rangers, House of the Dead, Daytona USA, Last Bronx, Clockwork Knight 1 & 2, Dragon FOrce, Shining Force 3, etc...

These games may not fall into the "timeless ****cs" list for most people, but needless to say there are plenty of Saturn titles that I'm sure many Wii owners (myself included) would love to be able to download and play today.

[QUOTE="DJ_Lae"]I don't see a port being done, as it would simply cost too much to be worth it. The Gamecube version was ported over with basically no additional work outside of coding proper widescreen and adding motion controls. Printing money. For RE5 they'd have to completely redo all of the in-game models and architecture with fewer polygons and lower resolution textures, and that coupled with porting the entire engine to the Wii's hardware I'd imagine would be quite an undertaking. The game already sold well on the PS3 and 360, and the market for people who haven't played it on an HD console is probably quite small.gary_safc
One thing I would like to mention I am pretty sure RE4 was should of been a gamecube exclusive. then basically somehow it got ported to the playstation2 with downgraded graphics. Also some added extras too. Just to point that out.

It was originally intended to be a GC exclusive, but apparently there was no formal agreement stating that it actually HAD to be one. Upon seeing how well the game sold on GC, Capcom saw the opportunity to cash in even further on it by porting it to the more popular PS2 console as well. Personally, I can't say I blame them either. It would've been a real crime to have had such an awesome game available to only GC owners.

The same thing happened with RE:COde Veronica and the Dreamcast as well I believe. CV was originally intended to be a DC exclusive, but Capcom later ported it to the Gamecube and PS2 consoles anyways, seeing as how well the game was doing and how limited it would've been if it were exclusively available only to DC owners.

Personally, I don't see why a major developer like Capcom would be so bold as to sign exclusive agreements with just one company/console.

As per wikipedia:

"A third film is currently in the development stage with a tentative release date of 2010.After having read the script, Ed Boon has stated that the upcoming movie will be more of areboot than a third sequel, as had been previously believed. A possible trailer has appeared on the internet showcasing Michael JaiWhiteas Jax,JeriRyanas Sonya Blade, Matt Mullins as Johnny Cage, Ian Anthony Dale as Scorpion, andLateef Crowderas Baraka. Kevin Tanchareon directed the short and Larnell Stovall choreographed the fight scenes. Jeri Ryan revealed that the short was made for the director to pitch the reboot to Warner Brothers"

Looks like it's gonna be a feature film afterall :D

[QUOTE="dtno132"] Well, to most Resident Evil fans, RE4 and 5 are crappy action games, nothing more. But even though I liked RE4 I really hope that RE would go back to it's "roots". -- On Topic, If Capcom decided to make a Wii version they'd have to remake all of it, but since Capcom absolutely loves porting/remaking games I think we will be seeing it on a Nintendo consolejamesm7786

Most RE fans are unable move forward. I'm a die-hard RE fan as well, but even I'll be the first to admit that the series was getting very stale and generic, and was in desperate need for a change in both story-line and gameplay. It was a change for the better to say the least. A lot of traditional RE fans just need to stop being babies about it.

I'm a die-hard fan of RE myself. Perhaps it was getting worn out to you, but then again you claim to be a die-hard fan, so I don't see how it was getting old... anyway, what they have done to RE is cool and whatnot, but it is not RE anymore. It is just some action game with RE characters. Really, the plot has gotten bad with the alien virus BS and the game feels like every other action game on the market... blah. I miss old-school RE!!!

Just because I'm a die-hard fan of the series that doesn't mean that I can't be open-minded to something new. If the gameplay was altered into a final product that turned out to be absolute garbage, then i'd have something to complain about. Instead, I feel they altered a gameplay that took the series into a fresh, exciting direction. As much as I love the classic RE titles, it did get to a point where the ridiculous camera angles, strangely placed puzzles, frutrating controls (due heavily to the camera angles), and repetitive gameplay, all started to become somewhat redundant and stale over time. The series was starting to show obvious signs of age, and it's only normal that developers will try to incporporate new ideas. I mean, no one seemed to complain with the drastic changes in Mario Galaxy from Mario 64, did they? If the changes do justice to the integrity of the series, then I say that the changes are thus merited.

You honestly gotta be the first person I've ever met in my life that has used RE4 and the word "suckage" in the same sentence.

RE5 is possible on Wii, there's nothing remotely next gen about it like Dead Rising and Star Wars The Force Unleashed, it is merelyRE4 with a partner. The only thing that kept it off the Wii was the foolishdecision to make it on a incompatible engine. Dead Space, Batman Arrkham Asylum and Marvel Vs Capcom 3can be replicated too.

In the end it boils down to downgrading the visuals, which would require Capcom to have to develop the game once again from scratch. The producer of RE5 even said in an interview that it would be completely possible to come out with a Wii version of RE5 while keeping everything intact. It would just be at the expense of the HD visuals.
