What killed the Dreamcast:

1) A lack of 3rd party developer support, most notably from EA.

2) Lack of consumer confidence due to the failure of the Saturn and 32X

3) Games were easily pirated, thus resulting in heavy losses for Sega in terms of game sales

4) General hardware deficiencies in comparison with the PS2. The PS2 had a built in DVD player and backwards compatability, which are 2 things that the Dreamcast DIDN'T have. In my opinion, the built in DVD player is what set the PS2 above the rest of the competition.

Even tho what i`ll say has nothing to do with RE5 wii. It has to do with RE and the wii anyways i was doing my regular surfing on the capcom RE forum and i believe WII owners will get a new RE game maybe the hybrid Resident Evil game that was rumor a few months back.

  • one of the user had order a resident evil archives action figure and they were delayed until next week. Note in the past the action figure had info regarding new RE games ALA darkside chronicles ECT.
  • Interwork is working on new Wii Peripherals based on the Resident evil franchises which will be a Resident Evil Magnu and A knife kit

Hopefully capcom doesn`t dissapoint us this time around, and my opinion on RE5 on the wii, it is possible they won`t do it though as i said before they will wait until nintendo`s new console is out and just do a straight port which will cost them less and they could still make profit off an old game.

As long as it's not another on-rail shooter, I'd have absolutely no problems whatsoever with an original RE title being made for the Wii.

Would that make sense? I mean, isn't the story more or less set in a medieval period?

Dreamcase, and it's not even debatable.

Second place would likely have to go to the Gamecube though. I think it could've lasted longer and sold better than it actually did.

I still prefer the original SH above all RE or SH games, it had more impact for me (free moving half a decade before RE did it) was actually scary and disturbing in parts and had quite a deep story (if you didn't get it then imperfection is yours :P although it took me a few play throughs to be fair).

SapSacPrime

The original SH was good, but I really didn't like the awkward combat system that was incorporated into it. It just felt and look really really weird.

Funny thing about the PS2 is that I only bought mine in the Fall of 2006, when it was selling for only 130$ (Canadian). I bought it THINKING that it was bound to get discontinued withinthe next year or so due to the next gen consoles coming out, but didn't care because at least there was a massive library of classic games to choose from. Here we are though, 4 years later and there are still new games coming out of the woodwork for the PS2, to go along with a ridiculously huge library of great games! Needless to say, it was definitely 130$ well spent. Even today, 9 years after the console was first released, I would still most definitely spend the 100 or so dollars to buy a brand new one had I not bought it back in 06.

Dudeee... We're way past that. If you insist, I can call it "That Guy With The Shotgun"

jouluturkki

How are "we" past that. You seem to be the only guy here that is delusional about RE4 not being a RE game.

Oh come on now! :D don't start with me again. If you have any doubts, just read my posts above again. In a nutshell, RE4 is not a part of the original story, period.

Not all the SH games follow the same story either though.

Eternal Champions (its a fighting game)LP4EVA2005

Eternal Champions was actually a heavily marketed game by Sega that I believe did pretty well in terms of sales.. It was supposed to be the Genesis' big 1st party developed fighting game. I personally wasn't crazy abuot it at all though.

Also, add Thunder Force 2 to my list :)
