I gotta say that at first I was very excited about Sonic 4, but upon watching these gameplay clips, my excitement level has indeeddecreased a tad.To me it looks like prettylazy effort by Sega, where they just tookthe same generic ideas from theoriginal game, and simply jazzed it up a bit with a new attack move and some fancier graphics. Why on earth they'd use the exact same first boss battle as the one from the original Sonic game is beyond me...

I rather enjoyed Splatterhouse 3 It was ahead of it's time by having your skills and how long you took affect the storyline.Treflis

Same here. I have a copy and was actually playing it not too long ago. The game is definitely still very challenging as well!

RE0 has plenty of merit. It showcased just how creaky and archaic RE had become and led to wholesale changes. Partner zapping and the ability to place items anywhere had next to no effect on the RE experience. It just was just more to juggle around.

QuistisTrepe_

I found the partner zapping, and the elimination of the storage boxes to be more of a hinderance to the gameplay rather than an actually improving it.

It's really too bad Capcom didn't do much with partner zapping. It could have been an exciting new feature, but in practice it had the depth of a puddle. Most of the zapping was all but scripted.

Scripted and incredibly frustrating. All it did was slow down the pace of an already slow paced game by havign to switch back and forth between partners so often. It was a clever idea, but just not very well executed.

I still rate Panzer Dragon: Zwei much higher personally.

ohthemanatee

I think panzer dragoon zwei is also pretty overrated. In fact, i'd say almost every 3D saturn game has aged poorly

I found it to be a much funner overall experience actually, and was almost like Sega's response to Starfox. The Saturn also had some pretty good 3D games, believe it or not:

Burning rangers

Virtual On

Virtual Fighter 2

Resident Evil

Tomb Raider

Of course, it also suffered from absolute abominations, like Die Hard Arcade. Just too bad that Sonic Extreme was never actually completed...

I don't understand the whole Genesis conversation...I still play and love my Genesis, and almost everyone I know who had one loved it and the games that were on it. And although I have to agree that the GameCube was slightly underrated, I think the Wii has allowed more people to enjoy the good titles that came out for it. The fact is the library of GameCube games was erratic ; many of the successful Nintendo franchises took a step back on the GC and made bad games. BUT I suppose it can be attributed to taste.

In my opinion I think the Sega Saturn is the most underrated console of all time. No one really mentions it. It was a "crossover" system paving the way for the new age of gaming; but like Saga has become too good at doing, their innovation was built on and surpassed by Nintendo (N64) and PlayStation (PS1) . BUT there are some really good titles on the system; Virtua Cop was fun, Virtua Fighter ( one of the first decent 3D fighters), the Die Hard Games were cool, in fact a bunch of Arcade ports to the Saturn were good. And the Japanese library was a bit more extensive and had some really great games as well, Radiant SilverGun was FANTASTIC...not to mention some decent 1st person shooters and a decent attempt or two at 1st person RPGs. I think the Saturn is extremely underrated.

The Saturn was definitely an awesome machine for arcade ports, without question. Till this day I still find games like Virtua Fighter 2, Virtua Cop, Daytona USA, and Sega Rally to be really fun, classic titles! It also boasted some awesome 2D platformers. Seeing as how 2D gaming is experiencing somewhat of a ressurgence these days, I think people would actually appreciate the Saturn more now than ever before. Unfortunately for the Saturn though, people were getting caught up in the new generation of gaming, which was of course in 3D, while the 2D experience was gradually becoming somewhat outdated. Such a shame too, considering the fact that the system's 2D games were awesome!

It was an overhaul, and a much needed one at that. RE: Zero was an obvious sign that the series had hit a brick wall of sorts, and that the series need a drastic face lift.

Well, I think RE0 is a great addition to the series. Nicely reveals where it all started from, it looks outstanding too, just like the Remake. So, what do you think of that? It's just my opinion, I actually like the game. You think that has much merit? It doesn't. My opinion is as significant as grains of sand on a beach, much like yours. So where is this going?
