@real1gaming:I think im right in saying that after Shenmue 2, developers picked up the baton in the form of the excellent "Yakuza" games. Which are, in my opinion, vastly superior.
But lets be realistic, reviews are just one persons opinion. and its ok to disagree. My kid loves Minecraft, me personally, id rather stick pins in my eyes than play that!
Somehow i knew the (extrememly late) arrival of this game wouldn't be relevant in the modern gaming era. I loved the first Shenmue. I actually gave up on the sequel when i got sick of the daily grind of shifting pallets on a forklift. I play games to escape the grind of the 9-5 life of a working man. I didnt want to come home from work and then play what amounted to a "working class misery simulator".
At the time there was genuine sadness when it was revealed the Shenmue story was being cut short. Back then we all wanted the final part of the trilogy. But they kept us waiting too long, and we moved on. Sad really, as i have such fond memories of the first Shenmue on Dreamcast. I especially loved collecting the little toys from the coin machines scattered around!
Ill always smile when i recall the old "Did you see a black car, the night of the incident"...!!!
@Utnayan:but Disco Elysium has just been released! :) Admittedly there is a ton of tripe being released. But there are gems to be found too.
I am a console collector so i keep all my old systems, right back to the Megadrive/Genesis and Snes. When i play through my catalogue of games, from Snes, to N64/PS1, to the PS2/original Xbox, then Xbox 360/PS3. And then finally modern consoles and PC, It seems apparant to me that games do keep getting better.
@btotheotothejtothef I think the trick to being a happy gamer is to avoid online play, and too tight to pay for DLC. either that, or im just an antisocial git :):
@master9000: I agree with the issues you raised, although you could have made them without the insult. I'm not sure what makes someone a "tool", maybe i am, maybe not.
I have always been uncomfortable with content being deliberately held back upon a games release, so it can be sold later as DLC, Being a mainly single player gamer i have personally never paid for a loot box, or any kind of micro transaction. But i realise these things for the rip off they are. Just don't pay! (no one is holding a gun to your head)
My view of gaming comes from a single player perspective. basically i am on holiday now until new year, and have just purchased both Divinity Original Sin games. Metro Exodus (im a big fan of the Metro books) and also MotoGP 19 (as a bike fan). So, From my perspective, im loving gaming right now,
@mrbojangles25: ah. I didn't read the article I just saw the headline and assumed it was being developed by the same team. I agree it's a concern that a new Dev team is taking over the reigns. To my shame I've never tried the System shock games. It's one of those things I've always wanted to do but never got round to it.
Can gaming actually get any better right now? I've just treated myself to divinity original sin 2. But have also been playing the Bioshock HD trilogy yet again. Then this is announced!
Bioshock games are an absolute joy. I have played them through on xbox, PlayStation and PC. Can't wait for this.
@deviltaz35: Of course its fallen to the militant feminist agenda, seeing male characters we know, and have grown used to, being pushed aside and replaced with women has infected every form of entertainment. I just find it sad and unnecessary.
No-one has a problem seeing new female characters appearing in new games/movies etc, What pisses people off is when existing male characters in existing stories are pushed aside to make way for them. The new Wolfenstein for example. If we can't play as "Terror Billy". Then im not interested. Wolfenstein IS B.J. Blazko.
