I Did It For the Second Time In 11 years

I Defeated Dr. Robotnik's Mean bean Machine for the second time in 11 years tonight.

I first played the game 11 years ago on my Genesis and always had a hard time defeating scenario mode. Well a few years ago I beat it on sonic's Mega Collection.

Well last week I got Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, and looking at the achieves i though for the most part every one was easy.

'Cept, I overlooked one.

Yatta - Beat Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine - 50G

Uh oh, I've only done this once before...well tonight...I did it again and i got a shiny new achieve to prove I did it :D proud retro moment There.

Now, it's just 2 player play for that game from now on. xD

Oh and SF4 coems o

Culdcept Saga Is Brutal, Rough...and Rewarding

Lately, this past week, I've been playing Culdcept Saga for the 360. It's like a Collectible Card game combined with Monopoly. I've been having a pretty good time playing it.

but let's make no mistake the game is brutal to the player. A single match can last to 1 to over 4 hours or so. The AI isn't dumb, They will defeat you and you must not take them lightly at any time. When you first start it will probably take 4 or more losses on the first stage to get the hang of things and a grasp on what to do. There's no difficulty levels, and luck does play a bit of part in the game. And achievements, if you want achievements, then don't even dare speak this game's name because achievements don't come easy, they take skill/time.

But Culdcept Saga is still pretty darn good. It'll reward you cards even if you lose (more cards are rewarded to you if you place higher/win the match.) It's got plenty of variety in stages, plenty of different types of cards, and has multiplayer and online play up to 4 plays at a time. Plus in VS. and Online modes you can customise the rules any way you like. And the game is very rewarding once you get practice in, achievements are rough, but earning them are proud moments and the game does have an addictive flavor.

So far, after 20 hours of play I've gotten 5 achievements for a total of 50gs.

I got Sonic's Ultimate Genesis collection this week for the 360 as well. It's a solid game collection, all pretty good titles (Alex Kidd still is a horrible game to me), and the smoothing option does make it look pretty in HD.

Also, this might be heading our way:

Rumor: Sega Vintage Collection coming to XBLA

From Joystiq's site:

"An anonymous source apparently tipped off Dutch gaming site Segaonline.nl to some top secret images of Sega Vintage Collection, a series of retro titles making their way to Xbox Live. The games are what you'd expect; it's classic Sega fare with Gunstar Heroes, Comix Zone, Altered Beast, Shinobi III, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3. "

Though, don't give your hopes up...though Gunstar Heroes on live with Online Multiplayer? Sega Fan's Dream there. :D

X360 Round 3, Jasper Enters The Fest

My 3rd Xbox 360. Didn't my 1st one RROD?

Well, as some of you know around, Sept 08, my 1st xbox 360, a Xenon model, RROD after almost two years. So, my sis gave me hers, which she never used (a falcon version of course). Well the system was fine until NXE came out. then my disk drive occasionally didn't want to read a disk in a drive . It would just say open tray."Well, the last week it got to the point where 95% of the time it'll read open tray and never read the disk. So, after talking to MS, it's apparently that the disk drive of the console, not the console itself has gone sour...after hardly only 4 months or so of real use.

And they want $99 to repair it? Forget that.

I went after what I really wanted and got it.

I got an Xbox 360 Arcade model for $180 (yay for employee discount) that's one the Jasper line of 360. In case you didn't know, these 360's (in short( feature different parts, and addresses all the errors previous 360s have fallen to, including RROD, overheating, and disk drive issues and etc.

After confirming that it's a Jasper in store, I took the puppy home and it's now online. My spend the money for a fix, when you can get better model for just $80 more?

Needless to say I'm ticked of course, but I'm glad that I got a Jasper now (was gonna get one anyway). My sister's 360 now, isn't gonna get sent out to the graveyard. the system still works, I just might see about getting the drive replaced (for much cheaper) then what MS wants to do.

So the arcade model comes with the 5 arcade games on disk (which I already got) and Sega Superstars Tennis (which is cool.

------

I also stopped by a Goodwill Store and for $5 total I got these two games:

Quackshot, Complete, Genesis, manual good shape, everything else excellent shape, R4

NFL 2k2, Complete, Dreamcast, Excellent shape (2k football series by Sega on DC is now complete), R2

I hope you all have a nice weekend guys and gals

The 360 Becomes The Sega Genesis This Tuesday!

You might not know this, but this Tuesday 360ers (and PS3ers) are gonna get a nice surprise - Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection comes out!

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection/Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection is an upcoming compilation of video games being developed by Backbone Entertainment for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles. The compilation features more than 40 Sega games which were previously released for the Genesis/Mega Drive console (including most of the Sonic the Hedgehog titles released for the system), and will feature arcade titles as well.

List of Games (with wiki links):

It'll feature online multiplayer for some titles too, and achievements/trophies plus not to mention the upgrade to HD to boot. And it'll retail for $29.99...a steal. So even if you have played some of the titles before or own them on collections, it might be worth it to pick up the ultimate colelction for your next gen console. You know I will.

R-Type dimensions was released on Live today. it's an update on R-Type1 and 2 from the arcade, and feature online co op and infinite modes in addition to cla$$ic and tons of leaderboards. Not at first Iw as skeptical..it retails for about $15 worth of points which is steep for an arcade remake, but after playing the demo and seeing what it offers, for a shooting fan this might be an absolute must get. if you don't care for the brutal nature of R-type..well stay away from it. :P

I Guess I'm Still Unreal + Two Snes Games

I thought I could be rusty. Did I still have the skills? Could I at least hang with them? Could I still rock the double enforcer, wham with the rocket launcher, shut you down with the flake cannon, and make chaos with the redeemer?

Yes, I can, I can quite nicely. If you can't tell I'm talking about the unreal series, which I've played since it's first days on the PC. Unreal tournament is one of my favorite games of all time - i used to come home after school and play it for hours. I did play 2003 and a bit of 2004 in college - but a few years have passed and I haven't really played unreal games since then. So, for Xmas i got Unreal Tournament 3 for the 360. I popped it in late last week, and sure enough....I still got my fragging skills both offline and online. In online games, I consistently rank in the top 5 to 3 in full deathmatches (16 players I believe) at the end. So, it's like I never left. and even though it's on a console, believe me it's still pretty darn awesome (and this comes from a past PC unreal player). Now unreal's achievements take time to get, but I'm ready to commit to get some achieves and kick butt and of course...have fun.

Favorite modes you ask? Why of course it's Deathmatch and team Deathmatch of course for this frag addict.

I did pick up two Snes games today for $2.50 each; two quite fun shooting titles:

Darius Twin, SNES, Cart Only, Excellent Shape, $2.50, R2

Wing Commander, SNES, Cart Only, Excellent Shape, $2.50, R1
