I asked the same question because I had the same problem, and the answer is this:

Sony pulled the update which means that as soon as they fix the issues that 2.4 supposedly had, it will be available for us to download.

This should come either later on today or the next day.

Dear Original Poster:

I think the problem is that the PS3 should have included these updates ages ago, if not during their release. And now that we have it, as good as it is, it still has issues that needs fixing and it's not 100% what we thought it would be.

Sure, in time Sony will perfect it or make it better, but I think Ps3 fans are simply fed up with waiting.

Ok, so I started to install 2.40 and, it was around 20% complete. I then started to fall asleep and eventually, when I woke back up about 30 minutes later, I got an error message. I figured that I lost my internet connection so I made sure that I was signed in and tried to install the update again...But this time, my PS3 wont recognize any new update. It says that the update is updated to the latest firmware, but when I check my settings, the version is 1.6 (or something close to that-- basically, it's not 2.4)

I can't update through the internet nor is it stored on my PS3. I dont have in-game XMB, I checked that-- I have no updates! I'm really worried, I signed off, signed back in, turned off the console and now I'm getting frustrated.

If you have any suggestions, please tell me what could have happened.

Unfortunately, I don't remember the error code because I assumed that I lost my internet connection, so I didn't bother to record it down.

For some reason, when I go online and click "find Game" it brings me to the "Downloading Game Settings" Screen. However once there, the game doesnt show any servers!! It's not frozen because the (...) keeps on going back and forth. I've been waiting for like 5 minutes now, and nothing! What's wrong with it? I spent $70 on this, and I really want to play online.

I am sure my online works fine, I'm signed in and everything.

Please help

Edit: Ok I resetted my system and it works now. However, I am wondering why this even happened in the first place? THe only other thing I did was play in splitscreen, and I was offline. When i signed in and played split screen the loading screen froze at 25%. Hopefully, online works well now :P

Call of Duty may seem like the obvious answer, but I'm wondering if Resistance is as good.

What multiplayer modes are on both?

What game do you think has more lasting appeal?

I'm focusing on the multiplayer-- is there split screen online?

Thanks,

As long as I get my 2.4 update, I will be happy. Sony is slowly getting back on their feet. I am pretty satisfied right now, but I know that the true experience of the PS3 still hasn't been experienced (though, it's hard to top something like MGS4).

Just hope that they dont screw up their major focuses like Home and I hope that their exclusives like LBP and Killzone 2 come out great.

I can reassure the post above me: There are about 500-600 servers on Warhawk which means that you will always find a game to play.
