Book 7

Well tis the season and not only am I up to level 14 on Gamespot today but I have other off-topic news which i'm afraid I have forced myself to post as a Harry Potter fan.

I'm afraid the off-topic news is a bit of a spoiler but we finally have the name of Harry Potter- Book 7. The title of book 7 will be: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

And until that fateful day comes when I get that call saying my preordered Wii has come through, this is Gamer_152 wishing you very happy holidays.

Wrist Straps!!!!!!!

Maybe it's because my lack of Wii, yes indeed it still hasn't come and so I phoned up Game and it turns out they don't actually know when my Wii will be coming but i'm feeling rather cranky.

Aside from this stupid thing i'm doing with Game there have been various other things in the news since my last blog which have just made my blood boil, namely wrist straps. Of course you'll know that Nintendo are now offering to replace peoples wrist straps with a new wrist strap that is more than twice as thick as people are claiming it doesn't work. I thought this wrist strap stuff was rubbish before and I still believe it is, i've seen people with pictures of Wiimotes actually lodged in the side of televisions and serious injuries suppossed to be caused somehow by the failure of the wrist strap. Firsty people hitting something with your Wiimote and your wrist strap breaking isn't the same thing, you know the games warn you to keep out of the way of stuff when you boot them up. Secondly only post GENUINE pictures on the internet, don't just take pictures of a broken glass and use it to bash Nintendo. But mostly if you are swinging your Wiimote around with enough force to break a HD TV that's generally thouht of as a sign that you've been playing a teeny bit too hard anyway, even Nintendo admit this (in their own subtle way). The worst thing is the Media and people in general who know little or nothing about this are starting to think Nintendo are building inferior products and that the amount of money it will take to fix this is a major blow to Nintendo, please, please, please tell your friends that this is not the case if you hear them coming out with this trash.

Another small point I once again must take a small jab at is Sony who have come out and called the Wii "a novelty", just trying to take a further attack on them when they have the foolish media going on about wrist straps, I think this is just a really bad move on Sony's part as this is the kind of attitude some gamers had when this console was first unveiled, I think most now know better Sony! And of course with a dash of irony thrown in Ninetndo are selling more Wiis than anybody else is selling anything so what can we say Sony has said? They are worse than a Novelty? :P . Oh well maybe one day they'll learn, until then and until I get my Wii this has been Gamer_152 with another pointless blog.

P.S Merry Christmas

While I wait for my Wii.......

Okay so i'm doing another blog a little off of time but I was planning to do this blog after after my Wii video blog but if you've been reading you'll know I haven't got my Wii yet and i've been doing other things but anyway i'm here now.

Anyway firstly I have been playing plenty of Meteos lately (and I have my review posted on it) and i've been searching around Gamespot when I came across a Meteos: Disney Magic, okay i've seen a few changes in this game but when it comes down to it this is just a commercialism of Meteos and I find it really sad that such a great puzzleris being ruined like that. In the news recently (well fairly recently) a man who attacked a guy and stole several PS3s was tracked down and shot by the police along with his dog, not only did they attack an innocent animal but shooting the guy I feel is a bit of an over the top response to what the guy did and I don't know what the police were thinking. In other police related news all of you reading the news on Gamespot will know that a mother arrested her Son for opening a GBA before December 25th and tried to justify her actions by saying her boy was irrational and she had had trouble with him in the past, I think this is stupid I mean your trying to say a twelve year old is such a social delinquent that he needs to be arrested and you are using opening a Christmas present early as an excuse to arrest him.

But now I've managed to get that out of my system onto what I really wanted to blog about, the next Harry Potter game, I really want to blog about this as it looks to be a good game and as far as I know i'm one of the few people taking this information from the Harry Potter community and posting it on Gamespot (yes, I am the chosen one). But what you need to know: the game is being made by big Harry Potter fans, it will be based along the Order of the Pheonix book and not the movie, they now have a different system for how your classes will work, the game is much less linear with openly explorable areas from all books that you can go off to at any time and explore as well as a number of side quests which means that if you just want to pick up and speed run you can play the game straight through but fans will be able to use their knowledge of the books to complete and side quests and visit such nice little locations as the burrow and the game will be very detailed with over 200 characters from the books, moving portraits and other magical objects residing around every corner and nice little snipets of the books worked into the game. On the slightly more technical side all of the game content is being approved by JK Rowling herself, there will be no vsisble load times, they really seem to be listening to the fans, they are taking ideas from fan forums and they are making changes such as woking out problems from the Goblet of Fire game like improving the lighting and changing the camera back to third person but they are keeping in popular features like flying.

All in all more absurd news, the Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix game looks to be very good both for fans and general gamerts and i'm patiently awaiting my Wii, until my next blog... -Gamer_152

Wii got a problem!!!

Of course today is December the 8th and when I returned home after a long school trip and of course what do I find waiting for me when I walk through the door? Absolutely Nothing, No Wii!! You see since I was away on this long trip I sent my Dad out to get the Wii before I returned but no luck, why? Well let me tell you the tale of the preorder from the start.

A while ago I tried to preorder the Wii from Game but they weren't aware of the number of Wiis they would be getting in so I was put on a list so that once they'd decided i'd be told if there would be enough for me to get a preorder or not but no word from them. On the day of the Wii demo I had a look in Game where it seemed they were shouting "last day for preorder" so I don't know what happened to me being told about my preorder but it didn't seem they had any record of the preorder either, in such a happy mood from the demo I didn't mind and just filled out my preorder (with a £20 deposit) but it seems what they didn't tell me is i'll be part of what the guy I phoned about this called "phase two", which pretty much means my Wii is in next weeks shipment!

Well thanks Game for getting my hopes up to ruin my launch day, next time tell me when your gonna do this!!

The Afterblog

Well I have my new video blog up here and i'm a little disheartened it has only been recomended by 1/4 people but nothing can dampen my spirits with less than one week to go till the Wii UK launch.

Somehow i'd also completely forgotten it was the Japanese Wii launch today but I logged on Gamespot and I had been updated with the news of the launch and it looks like it was a complete sell-out, still there's gonna be shortages over there but that's not evadable. As well as the news of the Japanese Wii launch I got an update of some new screenies and of course 16 updates that the Gamespot Twilight Princess strategy guide is out (i'm not kidding). Still please watch my blog and give me feedback no matter what you think and if you love video gaming I strongly advise you to watch Jimb0's new video blog, it's great.

Glitchspot- Banner Madness

Well I finally thought things had been sorted out when I last night content with having finally recieved my Video Access badge I thought i'd try and upload some pictures and Hallelujiah it worked so today I finished my (rather sad looking) banner ready to upload to Gamespot and hey presto! We have glitches. It seems I once again have the problem that when I try to upload a picture with jpg extension I get a message saying that I may only have jpg, gif etc. extensions, it is a frikin' jpg!!!

Ah well i'll try again tomorow but I doubt it will work. The good news is I already have some notes comp-iled ready for my next video blog although not enough for an entire episode... yet.

The Ancient Ways of Text Blogging

Well I didn't think i'd be text blogging again, infact this will probably be one of my few text blogs i'll do from now on as i'm happily video blogging and on my third episode.

Anyway as Gamespot goes it seems my video blogging has encouraged a couple more people to track me and my number of profile views has exploded, thank you to those two. I also have my Video Blogger and kinda strange Turkey Day emblems on Gamespot although here in England Thanksgiving is pretty much a meaningless holiday as there are no free presents or sweets involved. Anyway i'm still waiting patiently for my video access badge.

As my games go i've been playing a little Wind Waker but i'm mainly saving my self up for my demo of the Wii and glitches permitted I should have the blog (which I will keep at 10 mins max) up on Sunday. Anyway Happy Thanksgiving to you all! Turkey Turkey Turkey 2006.

This is Wii

Well I don't really want to make a big fuss but I felt compeled to post that I have just seen the UK Wii advertisement on TV, it's actually the first time i've seen a console advertised on UK television, this advert is only really a sneak peak so there may be more advertisements to come but if you wish to see it, it should be on Sky One.

P.S I recently uploaded my first user video and i'm experiencing several glitches :(

30 Days and 30 Nights

Okay, finally time for another blog, I’ve been holding this one back for this specific date as it is now just a month until I and the rest of the UK will have the brilliance unleashed upon them which is the Wii so this may be a little long but I must say I’m surprised how much I have to blog about and it only being just over a week since my last blog. But let’s start with some old stuff I haven’t commented on.

Firstly the downloadable games for the Wii, I am glad we have the old classics there just as expected and the prices as we are seeing with everything for the Wii are reasonable but there were some games there that were really good that are not on that list but I am sure we’ll see these eventually. Secondly 3 or 4 days ago somebody posted (the full version of) the South Park episode Make Love Not Warcraft and I think that game really captures the true spirit of MMORPGs, I loved it and so did my friend. Also I saw an advert recently for the pink PSP and it reminded me of what I thought when I first saw it along with the pink PS2, “why would they want to release pink versions of their console? I can understand Nintendo as they are trying to attract more females to gaming but what are Sony doing?” and I never figured that one out.

Moving to more recent news I have lost my DS Card for Brain Training somehow but my mind is slightly taken off of it due to other fantastic distractions. Firstly I although I haven’t played a massive amount of Guild Wars I have enjoyed the time I’ve spent there and the elements that make games like WoW and Guild Wars special. Then there’s of course the EA line-up for the future, I’m not expecting too much from this Sims game for the Wii, I don’t think it’ll be able to stand up to he PC titles any more than other Sims console versions unless they’ve come up with some amazing thing using the Wiis software we can’t contemplate. The Sims 3is already in planning and I’d be a bit worried but I know this game is in the capable hands of Will Wright who’s breathtaking game Spore I am still waiting for, well just 8-10 months to go. Now I move onto some slightly more local news as the Wii is on its UK tour and I’ll be going to see it at the Lakeside shopping centre on the 25th so I’m really looking forward to that, I know I’ll probably look like the biggest fanboy geek there but I don’t really care what passing chavs think of me.

Well this has been me saying just a month to the Wii!!!!

Pointless Holiday #3 Edition

Well it is all Hallows eve and it seems people are really embracing what Haloween is all about and if you live where I do haloween means terrorising old people and vandalism. But enough of my whining for now as I have stuff to blog about.

I think i'll go look for The Dark Crusade in Game again on Thursday but until then I have been enjoying the delights of Guild Wars which I have found an immensely enjoyable MMORPG although I have hit a bit of a brick wall as far as leveling goes. I have also listened to an episode of the Gamespot UK Podcast and although I don't think it is as good as Gamer's United it is quite good and if you haven't been keeping up with the altest in gaming listening is definately a great way to catch up. As you can see from my badge I tuned into the WoW Burning Crusade marathon on Gamespot and it does look quite good although I still don't wanna get into another MMO right now, I don't wanna pay the fees (i'm a bit of a cheapskate) but if anybody loves WoW i'd say The Burning Crusade is worth all the waiting around for.

Well enjoy halloween in all it's cheap plastic glory, peace out.
