Postponed

Well it's the 28th of October which means yesterday was the set release date of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War: The Dark Crusade (man that's a long title) the game I have only been waiting for since March and so that could only mean more annoyances for me.

I walked into Game yesterday and left my little bro and one of my friends with a slightly shorter attenion span playing a puzzle game so I could scan the store for The Dark Crusade, I couldn't find it in the charts, nor in the alphebetized section, nor anywhere else. Feeling slightly confused I asked one of the guys there what the release date for the game was and just as I thought it had been that day and so it turned out in the end that the release had been apparently postponed and that I should come back next week. I don't know why the release has been postponed or when I shall see the game ot in the UK but it's slightly disheartening when the game you have been waiting 7 months for doesn't arrive when it should. Oh well until I can pick up a copy I guess it's back to Guild Wars.

Hours until the Crusade

Well it's the half-term holiday and I have time to cool off from all my ranting as Jack Thompson crashes and burns now desperately trying to raise the rating on Bully with some half-minded idea that there being the chance to make homosexual relations in the game should push it up to a Mature rating. But Episode #4 of Gamers United has convinced me more than ever how tame this game really is.

As for my gaming besides a little video project i'm doing I am addicted to Guild Wars which I am finding just a fantastic MMO, always wanted to buy it but ive been a bit of a cheapskate really. I am also playing Nintendogs and Brain Training on the side, my Chihuahua seems a little agressive but the fantastic news is even after my massive break from Brain Training the holiday must of sure helped rest my brain as somehow I got a brain age of 21 today. I've also finally got around to preordering the Wii so I should have one on launch day and I can't wait till tommorow when I probably will by buying Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War: The Dark Crusade, so until then bye.

Absurdity!!!

Okay today is a pretty good day for me, th sun is shining and i'm now in the half-term holidays which is pretty cool but I do have a story to tell, a story of the last few days on Gamespot.

I've already ranted about this stupid thing with Bully and Jack Thompson but little did I know that this would go even firther into the realms of idiocy, imagine my surprise on finding that PC World and Currys were banning the game (and as it seems all based on what Jack Thompson thinks), I couldn't believe that two retailers of this size and sensibility were refusing to stock Bully. Anyway that night I log back on just before going to bed to find that with all the problems in the UK, the War in Iraq, the NHS etc. Tony Blair as flagged by one of the ministers decides to go into a conference about Bully, it seems he is being led entirely by this biased minister, I was furious that this is what the Prime Minister was wasting his time on. On another pleasant day I then find the Gamespot hands-on with the game, not only does it look like a very good RPG but it seems you actually spend most of your time defending other kids, I started thinking that the game didn't even deserve its T rating but well.. there goes another prejudice, ignorant attack on a completely random topic, I can only imagine what I will next find on Gamespot.

But in other news I am still very excited about the upcoming Dark Crusade game, I am also hearing that although it's a while till it is released the Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix game sounds good. As for glitches on Gamespot they are numerous but I AM able to once again download videos, thank you Gamespot!

...and Yet the Ignorant March on (Bully)

Well it seems we've reached that time again,   that's right time for another protest. In case you haven't been checking the gaming news lately one angry man, Jack Thompson has taken it on himself to decide that to-be-released game Bully is too violent for children to play and so has rounded up an angry party and gone on a quest to get these games taken off shelves.

There is nothing that bothers me more than when people who don't know what they talk about try to get something banned and do not listn to any type of reason. This is part of something we're all familiar with, the constant war of the worried and ignorant against video gaming, not only have I seen things like these with in the video gaming world many times before but it seems there will always be somebody trying to get something banned no matter what it is. For example there are those so desperate to get the Harry Potter books banned that they don't even have time to read them and there are even those who consider Pokemon (cartoons and games) to be Satanic.

I find these situations so annoying and for some reason it is the same every time, now I am not saying that all parents have no knowledge of video gaming, I think we can find at least one example of an involved Mum gamer right here on Gamespot (Princess Zelda). But these protestors always seem to be the same, in this situation alone we can see poor old Jack has:

1. Started his fight against a game which has not even been released and he has not been able to get a copy of, how can he really see this game or even see the effects on people?

2. Most likely like so many before him based all his arguments on stereotypes or small things he's picked up from the internet.

3. Continually complained about effects on kids despite ERSB rating this game being Teen.

4. Even ignored what the U.S goverment has said about this game when he went to court with the developers.

5. Tried to make choices for other parents that are not his to make.

Well i'm sure that Bully will hit the shelves, the protests will fizzle out and be forgotten, there will still be a small group of people eternally opposed to the game, but some time another angry group of non-gamers will rise up so this can start all over again.

If you want to hear another blog on this issue see "Tired of being BULLIED!" on Princesszelda's profile. Still at least there is only 11 days till the U.K launch of The Dark Crusade and I guess thts something to look forward to.

P.S thank you for sitting through my rant. -Gamer_152

Through the warcries of the Crusade

Well today is the North American release of Warhammer 40K: D.O.W: The Dark Crusade and I thought now would be a good time to blog.

Firstly I have reviewed the situation and it looks like I will have enough money for both the Dark Crusade and the Wii with at least 2 games although this will be the second game I am dipping into my Wii savings for, still I am really looking forward to it even if my computer can't run it at full power, damn piece of trash!

Secondly I have listened to the first episode of the Gamer's United podcast and I thought it was fantastic, nice work Commander and friends and i'd recomend to anyone interested in gaming have a listen. Also their couple of discussions got me thinking, after seeing Metroid Prime I also thought that the developers were seeing the console as more of a toy that a system and so weren't taking full advantage of it.

Anyway as for my glitches it seems I still can't downloadfrom Gamespot, it's only this site and once again if an anybody else has had this problem please give me feedback. Thanks for reading and until the next time some random rubbish pops into the head, bye.

Console Gaming and more Glitchmania

Okay so I have recently downloaded Internet Explorer 7 which is pretty cool. Last night I was watching a couple of the very first videos made by one of my friends and after i'd done that I found myself rather bored and so I decided to download some Shadow the Hedgehog videos off of Gamespot, no such luck, so I just thought "maybe it's something about my computer tonight, i'll try again tommorow".

Anyway today I went off to my friends house with another mate for 4 hours of straight gaming, we played Super Smash Bros. Melee, always a classic, WWE Smackdown (or whatever it's called) and it was weird getting used to the controls of that after SSBM but that game was kind of cool, then we played Soul Caliber 3 which I find just an excellent multiplayer and we finished off with a quick game of Worms 3D which was okay but maybe I didn't think it was that good as I was just playing it on the back of Soul Caliber. Anyway I had a good time round there and then I returned home reasonably tired from all my gaming.

Feeling tired I had little patience for not being able to download Shadow the Hedgehog videos or any other videos properly and I also found that watching Jimb0s latest video (well worth a watch) the video just lagged despite there being no obvious cause, even when I refreshed the page I got the same thing and after 11 minutes it very sadly became unwatchatble. Going back to the downloads it seems that my downloads either don't start, freeze or are corrupted and I have no clue why.

In summary multiplayer console gaming- good, Gamespot- good but with glitches. Also anybody who has any opinion on me doing a video blog or a Q & A please lave a comment (not that i'm really expecting any).

Glitchmania

Don't get me wrong, Gamespot is a great site for news, game discussion and more but i've found glitches unfortunately an issue. As you probably don't already know from this profile I have not been able to upload any pictures of any kind for any purpose ever since the day I joined Gamespot which is wuite disheartening. Those who are fans of Darrogamer06 will know that he who has uploaded number upon number of quality video blogs can no longer upload due to a glitch and very recently I posted a new review on Gamespot but I cannot get it into paragraphs, it justs sorts the text into one massive block no matter how many times I edit it. If anybody else has had any glitch problems please give me some feedback on this.

On a slightly cheerier note I am very happy with the price of the Nintebndo Wii package and although December seems like a while away now it's not as far away as Spore :P . The only slight thing with the Wii is the price of peripherals but really thats a bit of a small issue. Anyway thanks for reading and I hope your looking forward to the launch of the Wii too.

Seven/Eleven

I think from the title you can pretty much guess what this is about. I just thought it would be appropriate on this occassion to offer my condolances to anyone who was affected by the 7/11 terrorist attack or for that matter anybody who has been affected by any terrorist attack. I know 07/07/07 won't be a happy day either but that's for another blog. Anyway I hope nobody else finds themselves or their loved ones caught up in any other terrorist attack (another one is almost inevitable) and again my condolances to those who have had to go through 7/11. - Gamer_152

Match my Rank

I have been enjoying Metroid Prime: Hunters for quite a while (good game) but lately I have also been trying to play online via Wi-Fi but whenever I asked the game to "Match my Rank" when looking for opponents and i'm not really that good at FPSs (probably something to do with my hand-eye co-ordination weakness so I needed to start somewhere) It seems it simply chooses random players and I hardly ever end up with someone my rank and a lot of the time i'm facing people much more powerful than me. If I am doing something wrong or if anybody else has experienced this problem please tell me, i'm not bashing the game, it's just this rank thing confuses me.

It's my Birthday

Nothing very important this blog, just wanted to say it's my birthday today and thanks to all those who have entertained me with their blogs and videos in the time i've been on Gamespot. Oh and I got a Wireless USB connector for my DS, The Sims 2 (DS), Metroid Prime Hunters and Brain Training. Keep on gaming :D .
