If Gamespot wants to give a game a particular score, that's their prerogative, however, to chastise the game because of "Political Correctness" is lame. The game, like any other form of entertainment, must be reviewed within the context of its subject matter. Giving the game a lower score because you don't agree with how it portrays women is like giving "Goodfellas" a lower score because you don't like how it portrays Italians. Its portrayal of certain characters is part of the narrative. GTA is supposed to be an over-the-top, misogynistic, satirical piece of art. Gamespot is supposed to review it on its merits, not on whether or not you find it personally offensive, especially when the game is designed to be offensive. It's called Grand Theft Auto for Pete's sake, not "Dear Sir May I Please Borrow Your Automobile?". Stop with the PC B.S. Gamestop, it's unbecoming of you.
It is clear multiplatform games will cater to the least common denominator, so in reality, where we are going to see the difference is in the first party titles, where the Playstation brand already has a massive advantage.
"It’s up to us to prove that it’s worth $100 more." Stop there Mr. Penello. No disrespect meant, but what you "think" doesn't really matter, it's what the consumers think that matters. The consumers don't think the Kinect 2 is worth $100 given the abysmal failure the Kinect 1 was, and I'm not speaking of sales, I'm speaking of utility. You've got your work cut out for you in PROVING why it's worth $100 more. You haven't done that yet. Get on it, because right now, all we are reading is a bunch of empty words.
You put this side by side with NBA 2k13 and you can't tell the difference. Seriously, I love the 2k series, but anyone that buys this obvious roster update is a sucker.
@yavix you completely missed my point. My point is that Nintendo does make games some people like, but those people should not be burdened by spending in excess of $300 for a console just to play those games, and then having to buy a separate console to play everything else they want to play. It would be to the benefit of their fans if they stopped making consoles and just made games. Nintendo is also hurting themselves by not having their games on more popular platforms. The success of the Wii was the best thing to happen to Nintendo in the short term, but the absolute worst thing to happen to them in the long term. That success has clouded their judgement and given them a false sense of security.
Nintendo is an arrogant company that has not evolved with the times. They continue to release the same tired franchises with little innovation and still think people are going to buy their consoles like mindless sheep based solely on the promise of yet another Mario and Zelda game. The abysmal Wii U sales proves that strategy no longer works. It's true that they have fans that just want to play the next Mario and Zelda, but they are doing a massive disservice to their fans by forcing them to buy a console that is otherwise dead just to play those games. If they cared at all about their fans, they would go third party and make Mario and Zelda for the Playstation and Xbox, and even the iPhone and Android.
I'm glad they are taking so many queues from Borderlands and attempting to improve on them. Borderlands is just awesome and Destiny looks to be on the right track.
