I run on a velocity micro with

3gb of ram, Amd 64 x2 +6000, vista and direct x 10

I want to upgrade my card from 8500 to a 8800gtx

I was wondering if there is a power supply minimum and will this card fit in a mini tower because the card is a monster and Im not sure how it fits into the card slot.

Not sure about the space issue, but I would say running with anything under 500W may be asking for trouble. Also depends on how much other stuff you have in your PC though (HDD's, optical drives, PCI cards, etc.).

About a year, but my CPU is ony 1.67 GHZ or multiplied by 2 because I have a dual processor. It says 1.66 and 1.67esb1118

Go to Control Panel->System, then tell us what exactly it says for CPU (under the "General" tab).

Oh ya, what virus protection program should I use? I think I heard that avast is good, but I never used it. I DON'T want anything that will slow down my pc (like norton which I'm using now and hate).mattpunkgd

I use Avast and have no complaints. Couple that with ZoneAlarm for a firewall and you should be pretty well protected.

If you're a bit more tech savvy, run NETSTAT at a command prompt and check out what you're machine is connecting to.

Dude I'm a noob when it comes to this, I have no ideaesb1118

It may be very expensive to upgrade the CPU for the laptop and the increase may not be worth it. How old is this laptop?

Hmm, I'm not sure. Have you cleared your PC of spyware and adware? Just a theory that maybe something's hogging up bandwidth while you're on those specific sites.

Hmm, I don't know much about that card. Also I would've went with the Intel route, but I'm not sure how much more those CPU's are then AMD. Although I currently have an AMD Opteron (OC'd to 2.4 ghz) but I bought that just before the craze of the Intel chips came in. Can't complain though. Nice dual-core chip that OC's easily (stock cooling).

I've had good luck with ASUS. Not sure about this board, but looks ok to me:
