I'm thinking of getting Broken Sword on the DS, my preferred platform. It's a little pricey on Amazon though and I'm not sure if I should purchase it. I hear it has a great story but when it comes to games that have multiple versions, I'm really hesitant to get any of them. I prefer portability hence my inclination to play the DS version, but... well should I? Shouldn't I?

I like a lot of text-based adventures, but not ones that cost $25 unless they're exceptionally long...

It isn't exceptionally long. And the graphics are a little dated, but the gameplay is as good as an point'n'click adventure game can get. The plot isn't the second coming of Christ, but it isn't terrible either. It's a pretty average game, for today's standards.

There are better adventure games on the DS.

TWEWY and Chrono Trigger (if you can find it). M&L: Bowser Inside isn't bad, but is rather short however. Any Pokemon game isn't a bad choice either.

For the people who have, how does it compare in the series? I think I'm going to get white before i get my 3DS(never had a DS before) and I'm wondering how it ranks in the series.. The only pokemon games I've played are R/B/Y S/G/C and Leaf Green so as you can see I'm kind of new to the later version pokemon, thoughts?F0urTwenty

Better graphics than ever, and offers some much needed challenge that was absent on previous generations. And a real plot, for a change. Completely new pokemon, you won't find any of the old ones until you "beat" the elite four.

If you play it without prejudice, it can be the best generation so far.

Nah, but it's close. It's on par with Phoenix Wright and Hotel Dusk/Last Window.

It's on par with TWEWY in terms of style, and surpasses it in plot and atmosphere. TWEWY is better by sheer gameplay, of course, but is a close match.

You can't catch all Pokemon in the games but you can have them all, here is a list of the Pokemon you can't catch :)

All generations have amazing and craptastic designs. The only reason to think that the new generation have more captastic designs is nostalgia.
