There's no direct link between actual violence and violent video games, so we're going to ask people to turn them into us so we can destroy them. You know, so we can stop the violence in our community which video games have nothing to do with. Oh, yeah, and did you know that some studies have shown a minimal increase in negative emotions in children who play and watch violent media, which wasn't originally intended for them to consume in the first place? Basically, we're going to perpetrate an action, and ask others to participate, because of reasons which do not justify it with any logical soundness. Yeah...
@raweewat I made a deal with myself that I would only mine rich planets. And then, I'd only mine them until their rating fell down to good or moderate. I had to kinda trick myself psychology, by reciting in my mind that I only need to mine to complete my upgrades. That's been helping so far, but I may just find myself depleting all the planets if I'm not careful. lol
I'm a completionist all the way. Although, I admit that I haven't gotten everything in all my games, I certainly strive to. I've completed 90% of most of my games. What usually stops me is my stubborn streak. I refuse to use a walk through unless I'm absolutely stuck. That means I'd rather find all the pigeons in GTA IV, or all the feathers in Assassin's Creed II, through my own ingenuity. I'm still looking for all those till this day.
Another problem I used to have was restarting a game completely if I thought I missed something. I cannot count how many times I restarted Final Fantasy X-2 because I wanted 100% completion the first time through.
This is a really disappointing act of desperation on the part of the NRA. A mentally healthy, mature individual is not going to resort to violence just because they have a gun. Likewise, a mentally healthy, mature individual is not going to resort to violence just by playing a violent video game or watching a violent movie.
Why is the NRA even bothering to speak out at all, not to mention bringing up old tropes to defer blame which is nonexistent to begin with? The blame lays squarely on the mother of the man who committed the shooting. She knew her son was mentally unstable, yet she kept guns which were not under lock and key. It's really that simple.
Games do not cause people to commit acts of violence unless they are at a highly impressionable age (i.e. early childhood), or they are mentally ill.
I'm a fan of Take Two, Rockstar in particular, but Zelnick is so full of hubris and that's dangerous. I just hope that he doesn't become overly confident to a fault.
I like that they are being ambitious with the next Zelda title, despite not being so with the Wii U's hardware. I'm a Nintendo fan, so I am compelled to get a WII U purely out of love for Nintendo as a developer. I can hardly wait.
