@Shabo883 @Ishiban No, again, it's not set in a real world location, or do you not understand the meaning of real world setting? And no, you don't need a realistic art style to do all of those things you list. GTA: SA did not have a realistic art style yet you could do all of those thing convincingly enough. Fable did all of those things and it was cartoony as well.
Oh, and GTA: V doesn't have the same character altering features that GTA: SA had. You really don't know much about this game.
@Shabo883 @Ishiban I was wrong about Metal Gear, apparently it will be an open world game. However, you need to get your facts straight about GTA V. It's bigger, as in the game world itself, than GTA: SA, Red Dead, and GTA IV combined. Assassin's Creed III nor Metal Gear: Ground Zero's for that matter, are or will be that big.
As far as the cartoony graphics style, it's a matter of opinion whether are not they are good from aesthetic point of view. And again, GTA has never been a photo realistic game in terms of graphics, story or gameplay.
@Shabo883 @Ishiban You lack nuance if you cannot understand my description of the art style. Here, I'll help you; pseudo means fake. And no, it's not set in a real world setting, it's set in a fictional version of Los Angeles. It doesn't have to make sense to you, RockStar has always made that decision. But, if I had to guess, I'd say it has a lot to do with GTA being a parody of American society.
@Shabo883 @Alucard1475 You do realize that trailers for movies, as well as games, are not always indicative of the finished product, right? You keep insulting people because they like GTA V and you don't. Grow up.
@Shabo883 Several of the games you keep referencing are not even comparable because they are either not as big as GTA V (Far Cry 3, Assasin's Creed), or not an open world game ( Metal Gear). As for Watch Dogs, while it looked amazing, the demo we saw at e3 was running on a high end computer. There is no telling what it'll look like on the 360 or PS3.
That the graphics of GTA V are cartoonish is an art direction choice, not a graphical fidelity blemish.
@Shabo883 @Ishiban If you were a "serious" fan of GTA, you'd realize that it has always had a pseudo-realistic, cartoonish style. If you were an observant gamer, you'd also realize that your qualms have more to do with art style rather than fidelity.
So many people allow their expectations to grow beyond reason and good sense. There really isn't anything wrong with the trailer. The graphics are an improvement over GTA IV, which is especially obvious to anyone who has been playing the console version for a long time now. There is also a lot of action, while also introducing the audience to the personalities of the player characters. I must say, I can hardly wait until I can pick up this bad boy.
