[QUOTE="General_X"]Yep greater at everything except game library size, game library quality, game prices, community size, in-game overlay, specials, management, and parent company.Zlychop

Funny how you say community size, Steam has been out since 2004. I'd hope the community would be bigger seeing that its been out for that long. Steam lowers the price on games a lot, yeah. But really, who wants to play stuff like this http://store.steampowered.com/agecheck/app/16720/.

Steam throws a lot of stuff like that in your face, the games people actually want to play don't get price drops that actually matter. When origin does a special its 50% off on EVERYTHING, not only some games that Valve wants to sell.

EA has a way more money than Valve btw.

EA said they were never going to do crazy sales like you see on Steam.... Sometimes you can get 80% off or more. Origin constantly crashes and hardly EVER has sales. I only use it reluctantly for BF3.

[QUOTE="Zubinen"]The hit detection is fine but the game demands that you have a fast internet connection that can properly handle network smoothing at 100%, anything less and it is your fault for playing a game whose requirements you do not meet and this will become a requirement for future games in general. As for the CQ DLC, it's nice if you're into hipfire range gameplay but you can expect lots of shotguns and PDWs and it's very difficult to do well in Gun Master if you join late. If you do play CQ then at least play nicely and don't C4 the conquest domination flags just because of the small burn radius.SPYDER0416

My connection isn't bad, usually under 100 ping but a bit higher then my buddies. The hit detection isn't terrible, but its not on the level of other titles that put more work in more personal battles. Its not like Battlefield has ever had great hit boxes, and connection wise this is the only title that has given me or my friends trouble with lag spikes, something that just shows a lot more in fast paced gunfights.

I was willing to let slide before since I figured it was a bit less polish for a bit more content and a new engine, but here I think its obvious that faster, personal combat just doesn't work as well as the larger battles with the rules they've made and lines they've drawn in the sand in terms of acceptable issues.

I don't hate CQ, it just really puts a spotlight on BF3's flaws.

100 ping?! I get around 10-15 ping for servers here in Australia.

[QUOTE="Postmortem123"]

I wouldn't, not with that GPU.

It's a rebadged GT 540m iirc.

kraychik

If he upgrades and gets the GT 650m 2gig he should be pretty good at running most contemporary titles with medium and even high settings. He may not crank Max Payne 3, but he'll be able to run titles like MW3 and Battlefield 3 with high settings and still hit over 30 FPS average, I think.

BF3 on high would be pushing it at 1080p, I'd say medium, which still looks fantastic and better than the console by a long way.

[QUOTE="JC_Spot"]

http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np6165-clevo-w150er-p-4344.html This is from the website I got my laptop from. If you upgrade the CPU to an i7 you get everything you get with the HP for around $930, plus you get a 1080p screen as opposed to 768p and you also get the GT650M instead of 630M so that's about 2x as powerful.

RandomWinner

Stupid question, what do I loose out on going with the i5 vs. the i7?

i5 is dual core i7 is quad core, not to mention each core in the i7 is more powerful than each core in the i5 so you should see more than double CPU power for just $70 more. If you really can't afford it then the i5 should be okay but it's much better value with the i7, and it will improve much more than just gaming performance but all round speed of the laptop would be much better.

I have no idea what your problem is but I have a friend with McAfee Anti Virus which always delays his Ethernet connection as it scans it for legitimacy every time he boots. Maybe it's something like that.
