I've got to say that this is one of the best assessments of Video Game controversy I have ever seen - you should be in the court room ripping apart cases bit by bit.
I think one will find this has nothing to do with "looks the same" comparison, if the game engine and functionality turns out to be the same then for me EA shouldn't have to worry, in the end if their game ends up being more buggy than theirs then they've lost automatically.
There is always a chance that things looks simliar, just look at what Apple are trying to do with Samsung and Google, in the end if they look the same or not if the consumer buys the product and likes it then it just means EA and Apple have to work a bit more harder.
I'm glad the effect was little in terms of jobs, good to hear that it's still likely they will have jobs, the last thing anyone wants to hear is bad news, not sure why anyone is jumping on the chance to attack Microsoft - no doubt one of the best companies to hit the market.
We should be more thankful, everyone forgot the bit that says Microsoft HR is "working with the affected individuals to find new roles within the company". At least they are still keeping the jobs in Canada and not shipped off to, er I don't know, China Mr Apple Macintosh!
I don't think EA realise how good competition was for them. When Pro Evolution Soccer took over they finalise took their thumb out of their backside and started to do something, in the end they have produced consecutive successes with FIFA 10, 11 and 12 leaving Konami to rethink. At least Konami are keeping in touch and not giving up, it's what a 'free market' should be all about.
I liked it when I was playing Pro Evo for many years and then switched over, I won't rule out switching back in the future.
One thing that's obvious is NFL, I got carried away with Madden because there was no competition, 2k games gave me a very good tennis game, nicely done NHL game but what's missing? NFL 2k5 was the marker, I fear despite the graphics, gameplay, sound etc has moved on from there that Madden series would be ranked outside the top ten way behind the FIFA series.
If Madden 13 isn't anything special - following 8 years since NFL 2k5 for EA not to have mastered American Football is one of the biggest trategies in gaming history.
No new gen consoles until we have mastered the current gen, at least a year to two, graphics are mastered but gameplay and replay value have certainly not been, nothing compares to the old Nintendo and Sega systems.
Do these guys think we are millionaires that we can just keep buying more and more new consoles etc?
This would only be a good idea if every game came out as trials as well, we rely on demos before buying the whole thing. Once you buy digital you can't return.
Only the gamers out there can stop this and unfortunately the digital age is only getting stronger.
Just a report and already the anti-Xbox groups are out in force.
Time and time again, the Xbox 360 is a multimedia gaming system, PS3 went down this route and we should be getting to an age where one system can do everything.
Is anyone being forced to buy this service? Answer is no and as for Zune, that works fine for me, the publicity right now including zdnet and other computing sites have been anti-Microsoft.
Everyone should be angry and upset at how Apple are getting Samsung devices banned because they're better.
