@Flyin3lvl: They are going to release an HD remaster of 12. There is no official word, but there's enough evidence to suggest it's in the pipe.

@Lionheart8472: They've already remade FF10 in the form of an HD remaster. The game holds up well enough that I don't think a full-blown remake is necessary.

@Barighm: The problem with asking for a proper sequel to the Chrono series is that Chrono Cross is an absolute mess plot-wise. Many would argue that Cross wasn't even finished. The ending was a huge wall-of-text that didn't make much sense, and the resolution was extremely vague. We never even learned what happened to Crono or Marle.

That is why a remake of Chrono Trigger makes more sense than skipping ahead to a Chrono Break resting on the flimsy foundation of Chrono Cross. And there is a way to combine a retelling of Trigger with sequel ideas for Break. What if a new Chrono Trigger took place in a world that was experiencing a giant temporal causality loop as a result of what happened at the end of Chrono Cross? (Chrono Cross would have to be remade also.) So you would have the basic plot behind Trigger along with its wonderful cast of characters, but added to that you would have the revelation that time is repeating and you would need to "break" the time-loop to save everyone and everything. That would be the essence of Chrono Break.

@davidpring2005: Sadly, Xenogears is not at all likely unless Square-Enix makes some kind of deal with Bandai-Namco.

@silversix_: Actually, it's not intelligent at all. They're just saying something they think we all want to hear. It's better to remake something based on a good idea of the past than to make something new based on a new idea that is terrible. Good ideas don't get old. They just get better over time.

News like this makes me very hopeful for the future. There's no reason that old games on obsolete platforms can't be remade using modern production values and modern gameplay innovations - so long as said innovations don't change the spirit of the original release into something we wouldn't recognize. Resident Evil HD is an example of how to do it right.

This leaves the door wide open for a Chrono Trigger remake. They have to be at least thinking about it, having made these kind of statements about existing IP. And with Final Fantasy VII Remake already in the pipes, we know it's not just idle talk.

I never forgave SyFy for cancelling SGU just when it was getting really good. I watched the first season of Defiance, but wasn't impressed. SyFy hasn't been on my radar screen since.

Non-compete clause? I thought Konami wasn't going to compete in AAA development anymore. What are they afraid of?

The game may end up being terrible, but watching this is almost worth the price of admission.

Oh dear. This doesn't sound good AT ALL. Only a month until release and gaming journalists are already ridiculing the game for a whole slew of reasons.
