Because we play the role of an avergae joe/jane every day in real life - the best games are about escapism and experiencing the extraordinary. Kind of a dumb question really...
Yeah, sorry but I don't really get it. Is it supposed to be funny? Maybe this kind of 'humour' goes over better in the US. I'll stick with Start/Select and Bluffer's Guide, thanks. PS. About 'rad'...some teenage skaterboys from the mid '90s called - they want their word back.
Two of my favourite games got a 6.5 - Lego Batman and Lego Star Wars 3 The Clone Wars (sensing a theme?). And yet, I thought that GTA IV with it's shiny 10 was a snoozefest. Depends what you look for in a game.
Great article - I agree wholeheartedly with almost everything you said. I actually enjoyed Brotherhood just as much as AC2, but that was mostly down to my own personal fascination and love of Rome (I've been there twice on holiday, and I got a huge kick from seeing those amazing ancient places in the game). Weirdly, the thing I found most off-putting about Revelations was that the main characters were no longer physically recognisable to me. Sure, the graphics were improved, and Ezio is older - but they didn't so much age him as completely redesign his face so that he looks nothing like Ezio anymore. And it was even worse with Desmond! If it wasn't for the voice and the trademark grey hoody, you wouldn't even know who this guy is. It may sound kind of nit-picky, but for a series so rooted in character I found the changes jarring. It was like swapping out the main actors in a beloved TV show. Oh, and the fact that all of the minor NPC characters (ie, the other assassins, etc.) used the exact same character model - they're all clones of one another! Really lazy. I turned the game off after only an hour in disgust and replayed Brotherhood.
haha I didn't get those captions at first because I'm British and we pronounce the 'I' in Iran like the 'I' in 'it', as opposed to the American pronounciation 'Eye-ran'. Interesting article though.
I find it quite amusing that GS penalises it's users for trolling, when the only purpose of this 'article' is trolling on a global scale. Gamespot's own definition: "Trolling (Inciting flames): ...includes, but is not limited to...provoking fans of a particular system or game, especially on boards or topics dedicated to that system or game...asking obviously useless questions..." Isn't that what this 'article' is doing, just to get hits on the site? Practice what you preach GS.
@GeoffZak Jak & Daxter Precursor Legacy - hell yeah! That is one of the only games that I have ever completed and then immediately started a new game and played all the way through again. Also, one of the only PS2 games that I still play now and then - man, I lost count of how many times I've completed it. Genius!
