False Alarm...apparently...

 Hello All,

Apparently I wasn't in quite as much donkey poo as I thought...I do still have work to do, but I just got done 5 one half to three quarter page reports...Exactly how this happened is beyond me, but I'm not complaining! After all, I'm not THAT stupid!

Thanks for the lovely comments, and I guess, while you still might not see much of me today, you will be seeing me tomorrow...so start shaking in fear now. :P

I'm going to have a news update on the Epic Commander mod up soon, so keep your eyes open if you are into that kind of thing.

No John today

Read the Title,

I have a hellish amount of work due today, which I did not know of beforehand. No John Today. Not much John tomorrow either.

Insomnia, Reloaded...

Hello All of You Crazy People Who Read This,

Yes I disappeared yesterday. I went to the city to deal with a few things, and I came back with SUPREME COMMANDER!!! I then decided to start it at 10:45ish an...umm...I kind of played until 3-ish when I started to fall onto the keyboard. :D

I also got onto the beta-testing team for the Table Top Round Up Mod for Dawn of War. I'll get it later today and I plan on getting in some practice before the first online match with some other testers, after all, I don't want Zany to hand me my rear TOO quickly. I've been waiting for this version of the mod since before it was announced, and I'm very happy to have gotten on.

Kite still needs to tell me if and how he wants his profile modded, and I am thinking about the next contest thingy.

AHA! This time it will be a "What Am I?" Question!

"I am a book written in 1991, following a part of a Harvard Student's life. Though his troubles are Firm in the beginning, he eventually finds a paradise that becomes Deere to him."

What is the prize you ask? Someone will find out if, and when, they win. :P

Next up, Ramblings of an Insane Gamer

Hello All (again),

This has to be the first time I've blogged twice in a day. Anyways...

Well now, the mod I am working on has its forums up, and a news announcement coming soon. It looks to be shaping up well, and I am hoping for continued good luck in its future.

I also happened to score a lucky break with another mod, getting onto the beta-team of the Table Top Round Up mod for Dawn of War: Dark Crusade. That means I will be playing the heck out of it once the team gets it. :D

Since Kite won the little contesty thing I had here is his cookie. Feel free to print and eat as many as you would like.

I'm also, at the behest of some of my friends, considering the next-gen consoles a bit more seriously. Feel free to chip in your two cents here.

I know I forgot something, but I can put that in the next blog.

Disregard the Earlier Post

Hello All,

I was playing around and decided to post a picture of my lovely profile.

Do you like it? :D A cookie for whomever finds all the modifications first. And I'll modify your profile to your specifications as well.

Forget all the stuff from down here, I decided against it.

Crash...

Hello all of my adoring fans,

Apparently you haven't found anything more interesting than listening to my insane ramblings here on Gamespot. I am very sorry for you, and I hope you find something better to do soon.

Lets see, what happened while I was gone...

Ok, for those of you not in the know I went to visit my grandmother during the beginning of my spring break. The trip was 500+ miles back and forth and it gave me a heck of allot of "me" time while I was driving California's highways by myself. The trip up had allot of slow drivers, but barring one event it was very plain.

That one event happened in a city I had to drive through, still an hour plus from my grandmother's. In Yuba City I was driving along on highway 299. The traffic had stopped at a red light and I was in the middle lane, the third car back. The light went green and we all started moving, but the next light was red and traffic began to get close to the intersection. The car, a little black honda car from the 90's, decided that they didn't want to get stuck in traffic and stopped in the crosswalk. I stepped down hard on my brakes and ended up a foot behind it.

However, after I had stopped, a heard a screach. As soon as I could utter "WTF?" I felt the hit. I stepped down hard on the brakes and got lucky enough to not hit the idiot in front of me. The large white truck behind me had not been able to stop and it had impacted the rear of the Ford Escort station wagon that I was driving. Considering the size of the truck little happened to the Escort, and shortly afterward both myself and the driver of the truck parted, each on our own way.

I am now dealing with the legal after effects of the crash, and apparently the car will need to have a replacement door installed in the rear. The cost is rather high for all the work, but luckily I was not at fault. Oh, if you were wondering about his truck...the liscense plate fell off...thats about it.

On the way back it was all clear barring one mishap getting on I-5. I was turning left to get to the ramp and an 18-wheeler was turning left across the way. He started off slowly and began his turn, as his turn-signal suggested. However, after I had pulled out to turn as well, he decided, while still looking to the side, to go straight...I gunned the engine and zipped out of the way shortly before I got turned into paste. (which is a given as I would not be typing this blog had I been hit)

Now, I'm back from my trip and I have several legal and other official matters to sort out and I have schoolwork due very soon. :D Oh the joy...

I hope everyone's Spring and Easter breaks were as good as, or, hopefully, better than mine. 8)

Spring Break

Hello All,

My spring break is upon me, and that means a little bit of time with not as much schoolwork. While to some that might mean I will be on even more it actually means the opposite...I am going to drive down to my Grandmother's to visit her for a couple of days and then I might be going on a family vacation, but that part isn't decided.

Because of this I am going to be offline for a good while after today, and on into the early part of April. I also plan on devoting more time to reading and gaming, because I have started, yet again, to devote too much time to online activities, what with the mod and all.

I would also like to take a moment to say farewell to a dear friend of mine who is leaving Gamespot. GoblinOnFire is a great guy, and if you happen to get a chance in your busy day, then go by and say goodbye to him in his last blog...I'll make sure he sees all the lovely replies.

Firefox

Hello All,

At the prodding of some people on here I have just downloaded Firefox and I am giving it a little once-over. First of all it seems like Microsoft blatantly ripped off this browser with it's 7.0 version, however there is one big difference, this one doesn't crash as easily, and gamespot seems to run faster on it. I now will have to force my family to switch to it, or, I can just depend on Microsoft continuing to rip off Firefox, which is likely. :D

Now, for my day. It started off badly with me getting waken up at 3 in the morning by my family having an argument about where the flashlight was, we have allot of flashlights, with good batteries, but somehow they couldn't find one. The power had gone out and my little brother needed to pee, so I got out of bed, grabbed a flashlight, turned it on, and gave it to them in under a minute. After doing this I had had to wait for about an hour to go back to sleep...Yay power-outage!

Then I had to get up at 6:30 to go to college. Yay college! The power was still out, so I couldn't make the tea I normally use to wake up, it is a blend of several different powered drinks and goes by the name of Russian Tea, I highly reccommend it for people who have to get up to do something. This left me half-asleep. Even more Yay power-outage!

Then to get into the car I had to shove the key in hard, because the lock was frozen shut, yank the handle several times, and then pull the door hard enough to nearly rip it off. Yay hail-storms!

Then I get to class and get to learn about imaginary numbers. Yay Algrebra!

I made this blog for no real reason, mostly just to try out Firefox, now for the Knights of Ni!

Art, or at least something like it.

Hello All,

On one of my friend's blogs I decided to post a couple of my drawings to show them how lackluster it was. Now I did post it there, but I wanted to torture you with it as well :D Mind you this is some of the better stuff I did, and the rose is pretty much my best of all of them. If somebody wants I can post some of the really bad stuff in another blog.

This my drawing of Yoda, very simple but also a very clean drawing. He is also the only one that will fit here.

Then we have my rose, its a fairly good drawing, and for me a great one. The scanner wasn't big enough so you miss out on the edges and whatnot...

Finally, for tonight, we have half of a house I was forced to draw. I could remember why I made the rose, and yoda was simple, but I can't for the life of me remember why I had to do this...

 http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o80/John1918/house.jpg

Anyhoo, I guess I'll include some update stuff with this. I'm level 19 and getting ready for the level 20 glitch, have 2091 profile views (and I still don't know whats so interesting), I've posted 3221 messages, read 269829, and I've still only been moderated once so far...

The True Warhammer 40K union is still going strong, with lots of members, tons of posting, a healthy level, and some competitions finally wrapping up. I also kind of fell, or should I say was violently pushed , into leadership for another union. It is the Troll Hunters Union and it is dedicated to ridding gamespot of trolls. I am currently acting in place of the founder, tekmet, because of his real-life getting in the way. We need all the help we can get, so if you are interested on removing trolls from gamespot climb aboard! Unfortunately we have come across a small problem with gamespot moderators being unable to touch shared boards...but we are working out a solution.

Some of you might know that I have a heavy interest in modifications for games, they are free, they extend the life of fun games, they open up new stories and universe to your touch, and most importantly, they are free. :P For a change I have become an active team-member in a new mod undertaking, as opposed to just waiting around and playing them. The Epic Commander mod for Supreme Commander aims to bring the battles and the universe as seen in the Dawn of War games to a whole new scale. It will value strategy and tactics, and will introduce massive formations of infantry alongside huge machines of war.

If you happen to be interested in Dawn of War, Supreme Commander, or Epic Warhammer 40,000 then come and give us a look at http://forums.gaspowered.com/viewtopic.php?t=1773&highlight= . We will also have new forums, made by me, up soon with updates, art, discussions, and many other things soon, and you can safely bet I will tell you when. 8)

We are also recuirting for the mod team and we will review all those interested. We in truth could use the gamut, modelers, animators, texture artists, coders, sound people, a person capable of making a full website and more. We do have some team members right now, but more is almost ALWAYS better. In short, if you would like to help and think you can do something then come and see us! Heck, even if you are still learning come see me and I will try to help hook you up with tutorials and aids so you can eventually help. I don't bite, much, so don't be afraid!

Well I have already droned on far enough for tonight, so have a good one everybody.

A Troll in a cage is worth two in a bush...

Hello all my lovely readers,

I am sure that you all have experienced something akin to this.

Player1: So, what do you think of X unit in Y rts game?

Player2: Y gam suckzorz!1!elevenone!! Z gam iz teh bestest!

Player1: Come on, it isn't that bad, but back on topic. What do you think about X unit?

Player2: U suckzorz! Your Mom, Dog, Cat, Goldfish, socks, spoon, + dirt suckzorz!!!!

Player1: What are you going on about? Do you even have this game?

While this is a very comical representation of trolling it demonstrates a serious defect in any online setting. The ability to post without showing who you really are leads people to do crazy things for fun. While they may think it is fun it harms all those involved.

Trolling IS against the TOS, but little is done about the bulk of it. My good friend Tekmet has become angry at the current lack of moderation and punishment for trolls. He has been on some of the worst boards for trolling and I can honestly say that I would not dare reprint some of the stupidity he has seen, after all I don't want to give my readers headaches.

He has started an inititive to help keep the trolls at bay. He plans on creating a list of known trolls and a community of Troll Hunters. Read his blog here for the most important parts of his idea.

Remember, only you can prevent trolls!
