Katosepe321 Blog

Yay first day!!

So my first day of work was yesterday and it went pretty well. My friend Randy applied and got the job right before I got there so we were both training together which kicked a$$. Also, because i "referred" him, I got 50 bucks! woot! Anyway, we learned how to make the pizza's and stuff which was pretty fun and our boss made us a pizza too which was cool. It was really good. I've never had Garlic Jim's before that but it's really freakin good.

So, I need to write a review for Phoenix Wright cuz it's soooooo freakin good. I'll do that now! Peace all!

Short blog!

yay I got a job! I'm working at a pizza place now called Garlic Jims and I start tomorrow! That means soon i'll be able to preorder Brawl and get a 360! Woot! BTW, i think this is the shortest blog i've ever posted... less than two lines in the editor...

Finally something gaming related!

So first off, I wanted to start with my personal gaming news! You may or may not have noticed that on my Now Playing list, I added Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney even though i don't have a DS... Well, a friend of mine all but forced me to borrow his in order to play this game cuz he really loved it. So of course, there isn't too much i'll turn down so I decided I would play it. OMG the game is sooooooo cool! If you like adventure games, get this game. Don't even need to think about it, just get it. If not, try the game anyway. It's basically about this guy named Phoenix Wright who is a defense attorney. You have to go through 5 different trials in order to try and prove that your defendent is Not Guilty. In order to do this, you have to look around the murder scene and try and find clues by basically playing detective. Then you go to trial and fight the witness' testimonies by showing contradictory evidence. It's hard to explain here so just check out Gamespot's review on it. It explains the game pretty well. The one thing I would criticize it for is that the law system in the game makes absolutely no sense. For some reason, they have given a 3 day limit to all trials in the game and if you can't prove they are innocent in those three days, they are automatically guilty... Also, there are some really skewed leaps in logic that don't really make sense like for example (don't worry no spoilers) At one point the prosecuting attorney says, you may call in that witness but if you do and he testifies to the other witness' alibi, your defendent is guilty by default... cuz that somehow makes sense?? Anyway, still a great game. I've also got the second Phoenix Wright game and Hotel Dusk to beat too! pretty cool stuff.

Anyway, the world gaming news. You may or may not of heard of these two particular stories that have appeared on GS but I am personally disgusted by the both of them. One, Resident Evil 5 raises concerns of racism. Basically the argument is that because Resident Evil 5 has a white male (Chris Redfield, an important character in the RE storyline) gunning down hoards of infected African's in Africa, the game is teaching racism to kids. Come on people, Chris Redfield, who is the main character of the first game and is an important character in the rest of the games (the only game he is not mentioned in is 4), is in AFRICA!!!!! So because the African's are susceptable to the virus as well, that makes the game racist... In case you forgot Resident Evil 4 was entirely about hoards of Spaniards that went crazy and what do you know, an American FBI agent was gunning them down. However, nobody complained about racism there? Why is that? Because it's not racism! It simply makes sense that if you go to Spain, you're probably gonna find Spaniards and if you go to Africa, there are gonna be Africans. It's stupid to find this racist. The first 3 games were about gunning down hoards of whites (there were very few African-Americans in the first 3 games both good and bad). Now I understand that there are still feelings of tensions due to unfair treatment as far as media goes but sometimes, people just go way too far. This is not racism, this is a video game where the African's infected with the T-Virus act the same way everyone else does.

Second, the news about the "bisexual brutes". Wow... just wow. I have criticisms for both sides here. I'll start out with Bungie. Why the heck would you put quotes like that in a video game. I mean, sure it'll catch a few laughs but for the most part, it'll just give video game critics more to yell about. And we all know how loud the right-wing christians can get when anything about homosexuality arises. ughhh... Anyway, bad move on Bungie but really, why is this big news? So what? Why do people get so pissed off because a brute says, "that was my lover". I don't think the thought of Brutes sleeping together is gonna put idea's in anyone's heads. "Oh well since that brute is gay that means I should be gay too!" jeez... what do parents think this is gonna do to people? Anyway, I think GS is just grasping for new stories here and critics are just grasping for things to blow up at.

Well, that's enough of my ranting. Time for some SupCom and then finish off Phoenix Wright! Peace everyone! Sorry about my ranting lol.

Woohoo!

Wow it's been a full week so far. As far as movies go, I told you allin my last blog about the incredible movie Sunshine. Then, I saw The Simpsons Movie 2 days after that which is hilarious. Overall, it feels a little short but it's really funny, highly recommend it. Annoying tho, cuz there was this family in front of us with three little kids and they were SOOOOO OBNOXIOUS!!!! also, just a word for all you planning on seeing it, don't sing the Spider-pig song when it comes up. This kid in the back was doing that and it just wrecked the whole scene...

Then yesterday, I decided to have a horror movie marathon so I went on On Demand free movies and just picked some random stuff. First I watched this old 60's movie called Revulsion or something like that. OMG AWFUL!!!!! Don't ever see this. It's the most boring piece of crap EVER. Basically, it's about this insane, "sexually repressed" (that's what it says in the description) girl who is just kinda... stupid. She has all these stupid fantasies about random people raping her which is just really dumb since all the sound turns off and you just see her like... freakin out. I guess. But you don't really know if it's real or not. I'll spoil the movie for you here so you don't waste 2 hours of your life watching it. Her weird lover guy is killed, the landlord dies after trying to rape her. and she dies. There you go. She dies and it's teh best part of the whole freakin movie. Worst movie ever made IMO. Next, i decided to look for more current movies in hope of something good and what I found was... different but not necessarily in a bad way. It's called Devil's Trade and it's not really a movie. It's actually a bunch (7 to be exact) of little 5 minute episodes that make up a whole story. It's about these kids who get this cross made from something called the Devil's Tree which is supposedly cursed. It's not really scary but it's aneat little story and it does have it's moments. If you want to see it, it's on www.devilstrade.com . Finally, i saw this 2006 movie called A Dead Calling. The beginning of the movie is pretty scary but after that it's just kind of all right. It's about this reporter girl who goes into this house and starts witnessing all these ghosts, reinacting their deaths. Creepy at first but then it just becomes this thriller about a serial killer who broke out of jail. The "twists" in the endalso don't make sense at all but you just kind of let it go. Overall, probably a 6/10. It is a free movie afterall.

As far as gaming goes, i've been playing some Dragon Quest 8when I haven't been playing The Sims 2 which i just got. It's alright but it gets boring pretty fast. If you didn't like the first one, you won't like this one either. If you liked the first one, then definitely get this one cuz it's a lot better. I still think that it needs some kind of main game feature. K well, I'm out. Peace everyone!

select theatres only??

Yesterday, my friends and I went to see the movie Sunshine which, for some odd reason, is only playing at certain theatres. Anyway, we drove a little farther than normal but it was SOOOOOOOOO worth it!! Sunshine is easily one of the best Sci-fi movies out there. Maybe not better than Star Wars but still, pretty freakin awesome. And you don't feel incredibly geeky watching it either! lol. Anyway, the story goes that the sun is dying and a team of astronauts have to take a giant bomb to create a new sun inside the old one. Still not entirely sure why that makes sense but it does when ur watching the movie lol. Anyway, the movie starts as soon as they lose all communications with Earth so yeah... Can't really say much more without spoiling the movie. If it's playing near you, WATCH IT!!! Highly recommend it. A little gruesome just a forewarning. Not much more to say, I'm playing Dragon Quest VIII cuz i never ended up beating it and i'm a little sick of beat 'um ups so i'm not playin Ultimate Alliance rite now. Peace everyone!

Gamespot going too far??

I just saw a review on GS for the game Persona 3 and I must say, the new layouts for the gamespaces are just becoming way to complicated and cluttered. The thing that bugs me the most are the game emblems. Is that really necessary? I understand the purpose of the Good/Bad sections as those are really helpful if you don't have time to read the whole review however having emblems for it?? It defeats the whole purpose of having the Good/Bad sections. Stupid really. Then the new user stat section is just dumb as well. It's hard to find anything. My friend asked me about a week ago where the review button was for the games. It actually took me a while to find it... That's sad when someone who has been here for over 2 years and has written over 50 reviews has to look around for the button. The best layout they had was when the review, tag buttons were right under the GS score (which wasn't massively oversized :P) and the GS, User, and Other people scores were to the right side on the top. It was simple and only took a second to see everything you could want to see. Then the review was conveniently right underneath it. Maybe it's just me but all these changes to the format are really getting on my nerves. Well, that's enough of that rant...

I just beat X-men Legends 2 for the Xbox and I'll write up a full review on it later (irony abounds...). Pretty good game, better than the first one but the ending is pretty anti-climactic. It is nice to play some stuff on the X-men as they are one of my favorite comic characters. I'm getting a computer program that has 40 years of X-men comics from the first issue to August 2005. I'm pretty excited. Can't wait till it gets here. Anyway, starting on Marvel: Ultimate Alliance which is pretty cool so far. I just wish they would have some kind of character bio pages for the game since some of the characters are pretty obscure and it would be nice to know what their abilities were and a background. Anyway, hope you're all doin well. peace everyone!

NO SPOlLERS ALLOWED!!

So, I'm finally back from reading the last Harry Potter book. It's a pretty good ending but it does leave a few things out that it really should have addressed. I'm not going to put down anything in particular because I don't want to spoil it for you all.

I haven't been online for the last four days cuz i've been afraid of stumbling across spoilers for the book (which I have even without going on the net) so i just decided to stay cut off until I was done. However, this took me a lot longer than I thought it would. On saturday, the first day I had it, my parents were going out to dinner with another family so the other families kid invited me over. So I couldn't read the book... Unfortunately when I went over there, my friend got sick (not contagious so I was fine) so that really sucked for him. I hung out with his sister, who's closer to my age, and her friend and we watched Silence of the Lambs. So not a total loss. Anyway, Sunday was the busiest day i've had this entire summer so far... Wake up early for church, then I have this post-New Orleans party which lasted until about 2:30. Then we went to see Transformers cuz my uth pastor really wanted to see it and his wife wouldn't go :P. So we saw that then I hung out with a friend of mine to go... Swing Dancing.... yeah... never would have thought I would ever go swing dancing but... It was actually pretty fun. The crappy part tho, was that right after I left, I got pulled over by a cop for forgetting my headlights (DOH!!!). Thankfully, he didn't give me a ticket and just liked freakin me out. Monday, I went to a church event and played A LOT of super smash bros. for the 64.Most of the people there were pretty bad but two people (my uth pastor and another youth) were pretty good. My uth pastor uses Kirby and the other kid uses Pikachu like me! Well, at one point, neither of them were playing so I was playing three other kids who REALLY weren't very good to put it nicely, so I decided they should all team up against me. By the end of the Stock match, 5 lives, I had 28% damage after one tomato... Yeah... pretty sad. Anyway, then I hung out with a few of my friends and played video games and watched.... THE ORIGINAL TRANSFORMERS MOVIE!!!! lol... funniest crap ever. Easily one of the worst movies EVER but it was hilarious making fun of it. The Autobots are absolute cowards in that movie! They never once stand and fight EVER! They just run every single time. oh well. So yesterday was devoted entirely to reading and I finally finished it. YAY!!! So here I am!

Umm... As far as video games go, I'm almost done with X-men Legends 2 but I wasn't able to completely beat itcuz my bro is always on the Xbox now... In the meantime i'm playing Marvel: Ultimate Alliance which I just got from gamefly yesterday. So yeah, I think that's about it. Oh! I got an account set up on Flixster.com which is a pretty awesome movie site (better than filmspot IMO) so if you want to find me there, my username is same as here, Katosepe321. so my account site is katosepe321.flixster.com . Add me if you have an account and if not, you should at least check it out. It's pretty cool! Peace everyone!

Woah... sounds important!

First off, i want to address the problems everyone has been having with their Wii's online capabilities. The way i got it hooked up was really simple. If you have a wireless router somewhere in your house, all you have to do is go out and buy an 802.11 Wireless Network card, plug it into your Wii, type in ur info into the Wii and ur set! If you don't have wireless the easiest way is to set up a phone jack somewhere convenient for the Wii. Next, get a typical CAT5 cable and hook up ur Wii to the phone jack and ur set. There are other ways too such as hooking up the CAT5 directly to your computer or other things like that but they are generally more intrusive. Anyway, i hope that helps you all!

Second, I want to talk about the Smash Bros blog posts that have been going on. Recently, I was talking with my friend about the possibility of a storyline in Smash Bros. Brawl. The last two games haven't really had any kind of a storyline so why should this one right? Well, apparently I was wrong. The latest blog post seems to be one of the most important yet as it introduces the beginnings of a storyline to the game. If you haven't already seen it, you should definitely check it out. http://www.smashbros.com/

Thirdly, i remembered what i wanted to say last night! 12 more hours until Harry Potter 7!!!!! I'm definitely going to the midnight party tonite to get the book and then i'm coming straight home and probably reading it until i'm done. When the 6th book came out, I couldn't bring myself to put it down so I just read the whole thing straight in about 12 hours the day i got it. I'm looking forward to it again tomorrow lol. Anyone else going to the midnight party??

Finally, if anyone wants a copy of the first volume of Beserk, i can send you a link to read it. Just comment of PM if you're interested. The scanlation was done by a group called Band of the Hawks. K peace everyone!

yadda yadda

Hey all! First off, just wanna point out that i finally put up my friend code for the Wii so add me if you have that. I'll accept any friend invites there, just like here. Unfortunately, i don't have any online games yet... but i will! and then we can play! woot!

So... I didn't see Harry Potter last night. Don't know what was up with that. My friend left going to some church prep thing for a trip he's goin on and then never called me back. My guess is that his parents freaked out and said he had to pack all of his stuff and had to get a lot of sleep before the trip. Oh well. I'll probably end up seeing it some other time. Hmm... i know there was something else that i wanted to tell you all... but i don't remember what. lol oh well! peace all!

Too much of a good thing never sounded so true.

So i wasn't on earlier because yesterday, i slept over at a friends house. This friend, however, has a MASSIVE obsession with Star Wars Battlefront 2. He was dead set on becoming good enough to beat me overnight (i'm pretty good at the game so i'm more than enough of a challenge :P. My kill to death ratio is about 13 kills.). But i thought he'd give it up after a while... no... From about 8 o clock last night till just about an hour and a half ago, we've been playing battlefront 2... over... and over... and over again... geez... i never want to play it again after that... Oh yeah, and he never did better than I did. He got a few victories when my brother teamed up with him against me but i always had more kills.

In other news, i'm seeing harry potter today since i heard from more than a few people that this one's actually good and since i need to remember what happened before the 7th comes out friday night (yeah i'm goin to the midnight party) so hopefully that will be cool. I think that's it. Peace everyone!

OH! almost forgot! I hit a milestone today! 100+ friends! YAY!!! that's a lot of blogs to be watching . Haha jk. I love readin ur guys' blogs and i'll still keep up as much as i have been!
