@Rave215 @LeviHarris Still, I don't want anyone watching me while I'm in my house or getting fresh with my girlfriend on my couch. And don't say they can't, because they can. Whether or not they do is another story, but it's completely possible. It's not shit, it's willfully not inviting even more access to my personal life. You want a video and audio recording device placed in your home that's always on, be my guest. I, for one, enjoy having personal space and freedoms.
I've been a die-hard 360 supporter since day one and wasn't a fan of the PS3, but PS4 has been giving me those bedroom eyes whereas Xbone hasn't been returning my calls. I'll most likely end up getting one down the road, but I'm not going to until I see how things start to shape up.
I've got a pre-order in on a PS4, but the more and more I hear about the Xbone, I feel like I'm cheating on my girlfriend by not sticking with the Xbox...But then I remember the Kinect and all this NSA spying shit and I'm immediately assuaged into thinking I made the right choice. Still, I hate to think that years of achievements and a gamerscore of 40,000+ is going to waste. Then I think about how those aren't real things and I'm 29 and who cares about such frivolities? Then I remember that I've been a gamer for 25 years and I become filled with pride and sadness all at once. Being a gamer is tough.
@Grenadeh @LeviHarris That sounds to me like a glut of expectation. As a gamer for 25 years, if a game has depth, an impressive story, and/or fun gameplay I'm pleased. Expecting too much from a game/movie/band is what leads people who criticize the aformentioned's work to sound like "internet trolls." While I agree with the rehashed gameplay, you have to remember that there really hasn't been an innovative or new genre since the inception of 3D/polygonal gaming. However, if you go back and play an FPS or platformer or RPG from the PS1/N64 heyday, you'll see the concepts are largely the same, but the scale and execution of those concepts is vastly improved. MGS1 is almost unplayable by today's stealth gaming standards, but that doesn't mean it's bad. Even that great of classic gaming is a rehash of the top down gaming of the 80's, but I didn't hear people complaining and decrying that when it was released because they literally added a change of perspective while the core gameplay remained the same. As new methods of control and execution arise (and they will), the gameplay will still not evolve as much as we gamers expect. I think as a new genre that went through massive innovation in a relatively short span of time (our lifetimes), video games are still being held to that standard. Take a look at another form of media. Films have been the same since the 1920's when sound was introduced. Sure, they added color, smell-o-vision, bad 3D, "good" 3D and the like, but at the end of the day you've still got the same 3 act structure, actors, directors and producers from yesterday. My point is games get a bad rap right now for not innovating like they "used to," when in actuality, they've never been as innovative as we remember. Expect less, become pleasantly surprised more.
The setting looks pretty great, and with two years development time ahead of them I'm sure the jittery animations and shooting will be worked out, but put me in the interested pile.
Pretty sure it'll be a sequel, It's almost been a year since the game was released and if they're just announcing a game, that means it probably won't come out until next year. Either way, more of a great thing is never a bad thing. (logic is fun)
The bottom line is that if it stops selling so damn well, all of these re-paint complaints will go away along with this terrible series that's ruining the face and reputation of gaming.
