>DBG I responded to a couple of versus topics saying the magic girls would win and it seemed rub some people the wrong way. I'd post it in every vs topic, but I'd just end up getting modded for trolling or something. I'll throw it out there occasionally and see if I can ruffle a few more feathers.

>God of War movie All video game movies are terrible and that one would be too I'm sure. I learned my lesson with the Super Mario Bros movie.

>W1 and W3 I'm doing much better, especially with W3. 1 is still pretty patchy, but I'm getting past it taking minimal damage fairly regularly. I know you can set it up so that you use the legionnaire at the far end of the hall for collisions and get a prompt on one really quickly, I just need to check out some videos to see the specifics. I save my rage and magic for W5, gonna mess with some different ideas. I also need rage for W3 to break out if i accidentally become turned to stone. W3 is pretty smooth but I almost always take damage from the sirens ranged attacks. Just gotta practice some more and watch some runs.

>W5 I could probably use MotK chipping to get through this part, but I'm gonna try out various ways before I have to resort to that. Do you know offhand if you can launch with t from the spear without being countered if the satyr is standing on the staff? I'm gonna mess with some rage and hammer w/ CR for this part when I next play.

>W7 I forget if the floor is flat the whole way round here, or if it's just that area at the bottom. You say throw the legionnaires with s from the prompt from a long way to hit the cyclopes? I'm figuring this will be similar to W1 but with cyclopes instead of juggernauts. I'm gonna start with a conservative approach of launching into OH and going for collisions on the cyclopes.

>Olive skin The only olives I've ever seen are either green or black. Either can be sign of a serious infection.

>Black facial features He doesn't have a black nose or lips really. I don't know if you've ever seen the Zero Punctuation reviews of CoO or 3, but they're pretty funny. The CoO review mentions Kratos having a "ridiculous jaw line" but aside from that he seems very much like a Greek dude.

>Halloween remake I haven't seen the original or the remake. Was he in that? I mainly know him from A Clockwork Orange, which is ironic since I dislike that movie, being a big fan of the book and a big fan of being faithful to the source material when adapting something into some other medium. I bet if they made a God of War movie it'd be PG-13 and would star The Rock. (although there are many worse choices for a live action Kratos)

>ER Back to the reason I made the topic in the first place. I played some for a little bit today and it was W5 that was giving me trouble. I remember you saying if you stay away from the Satyrs for a while they'll do a taunt that can let you launch with the spear to OH for collisions. Is the taunt when they spin their staff around, or when they stand on their staff? The biggest problem with this method I had was the fight got chaotic quickly, and it felt difficult to set up a launch safely without being hit by a satyr or minotaur.

>W7 I was curious about W7. I am currently planning to use the spear to launch into OH for collisions on the cyclopes, although if I can get through W5 without needing the health chest I would go all in against the cyclopes with rage, CR, and the hammer. Do these cyclopes have a grab, and if they do can they grab you while rage is active?

>Kratos' ethnicity is a big topic With Dudley I can at least understand people thinking he's Indian since he's a shade lighter than the fully black characters (Balrog (boxer) and Dee Jay), but he's many shades darker than Dhalsim, who is confirmed to be Indian. Take this and his blue eyes (A trait exclusive to white people) and it's obvious he's supposed to be a mulatto British man who is pretty dark. Kratos on the other hand I don't see much argument. He's Greek. His voice is done by a black guy. If Kratos is supposed to be black then by the same logic Darth Vader is too.

>Deanofmean I'll keep on the lookout for him.

>Criminals favored over enforcers I don't think law enforcement should go around punching people without damn good reason, but it should at least be an option.

>Spray A favored weapon against dogs I've come to understand

>Have to buy your own gun and handcuffs That's crazy to me, but I don't know what the world's coming to these days. I have no idea how practical it would be, but if I had to provide my own gun I'd use a Single Action Army with the belt and holster low around my hips gunfighter style. You should be careful with those handcuffs, I once read a book where a lady is trapped in handcuffs and she escapes by cutting her own wrist and using the blood for lubrication. Something to watch out for.

>Charybdis I wonder what the original last boss was supposed to look like.

>Athena's voice actress Did you know already she had played that same character in another game? They did similar things with casting Harry Hamlin and Kevin Sorbo. They wasted Malcom Macdowell though.

>Gaia in 3 I don't even know why they changed it. Considering that her dialogue the whole game would fill all of 1 page I would figure Linda Hunt would tough it out for a few takes of a scream.

>Black or Indian It's a big topic of discussion among Dudley aficionados

>Takes two I've not seen that particular vet post here so I haven't had a chance to chat with them.

>Punches It's a shame. If it were up to me I'd encourage punching troublemakers.

>Asp I've seen cops with those. Are they even legal for civilians to have?

>Not meant to be the final boss Was it supposed to be someone else?

>Do the voice It'd be good money for not that much work. Even if you're not a good actor or don't have the best voice they can just put an effect on it to make it sound good.

>Athena's voice I like the original choice because that actress used the exact same voice as Athena in an earlier game called Age of Mythology. Gaia also had a different voice in 3, although the lady who did her voice originally is still the narrator. I'm almost certain her voice in 3 is the same person who played the oracle from the first game.

>Those who make the effort You have to have a certain attitude about it to make it worth it. You've gotta really be confident in your ability to carry yourself like a gentleman on top of the maintenance involved. If you had a physique like Dudley you could sport pretty much any look. I was curious how you even knew what Dudley looks like. He's blatantly a black British person, but there are people who stupidly insist he's supposed to be Indian since Britain has a long history with India, completely ignorant that Jamaica was also part of the British empire for over 300 years. He's got blue eyes that really stand out, which makes me think he's supposed to be half white half black (jamaican), but 100% British. I don't think Capcom has stated specifically, but it's obvious he's supposed to be black.

>Horseshoe hair It really doesn't bother me at all. A lot of people I've met with full heads of hair claim they would be devastating if they were in a similar position, but an impressive physique and a healthy dose of self confidence render that a mute point as long as I keep it buzzed short. I'm working hard on the physique, I just need to lift more.

>Snake If he likes boxing we'd probably get along well. I like to think I'm an easy to get along with fellow.

>Something along that line If your job involves any chance of hand to hand combat I would highly advise getting a pair of sap gloves. They fit easily into one's back pocket and makes crisp punches devastating. A solid jab cross hook combination could cause brain damage or even kill someone if the blows landed cleanly. Body blows would break ribs and damage internal organs, particularly the liver, which no human being who has ever lived could get up from a clean power punch within a 10 count.

>Impact on overall story The only thing I remember being of any significance what that Ares was confirmed to have a plan to overthrow Zeus. He needed Kratos to do this for some reason that wasn't explained well if at all. Showing the final boss in the promotional materials is also not ok with me. It became clear after a certain point what the final boss would look like (Some tentacle monster) since it was shown liberally in the trailers. Orkos was a stupid character who served no real purpose, and the furies were lame and non threatening compared to other antagonists.

>Papy I imagine from the context this is one of the lead designers.

>You could fix a lot of issues I'm sure you could. You should design and do the voice for a boss in 4.

>Mustache To get it like Dudley's I'd really have to let it grow out and wax it into a handlebar style. I'd have to wax it again every few hours. Too much maintenance for my tastes, but I admire those who make the effort.

>Horseshoe hair This is when male pattern baldness extends all the way to the back of the head. When viewed from above the hair would resemble a horseshoe. Some people of note with hair like this are Hulk Hogan, Sean Connery, and Patrick Stewart.

>Sicilians and Italians aren't folk from northern Italy much more prone to have light skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes?

>Abrahamic religion it is indeed a shame. My own family is all caught up in this.

>Snake Another runner who likes boxing?

>Mike Tyson He was trained properly at first. He was trained first by Cus D'Amato, who is a legend among trainers. Footage can be seen of them training together that shows off some very impressive hand speed and combinations from a young Tyson. After Cus died he was trained by Kevin Rooney, who was a protégé of Cus. Rooney is the one who trained him during his glory years from 85 to 88. The story goes Don King convinced Tyson to replace him, and once he replaced Rooney with a more lenient trainer he lost the title within 2 years. What he lost was more intangible than physical though. With his leash loosened he was out of control and has lost his guts (the intangible kind) and fighting spirit. I bet you can guess which religion he converted to late in his career, when he has no choice but to hope for divine intervention to defeat Lennox Lewis.

>Can't punch or kick in enforcement Are you a body guard for a celebrity or something along that line?

>Not engaging The rage system rubs me all kinds of wrong ways. You gotta work to earn the basic combos you've been using for the past 5 games? Who greenlit that idea? I didn't like the different elements for the blades, or having to upgrade to access magic that's not even that good anyway. The side weapons are fun to an extent, but I'd much have preferred a dedicated second weapon, maybe an axe since we've not seen Kratos use that weapon before. The story is terrible and hard to follow because it's disjointed, not that it has any impact on the overall story anyways. The camera is often zoomed in way too far out, or too far in. A bunch of factors made me opt to play the other games over that one again. I will eventually get to it though.

>ToA What did the patch even do? The fact that it requires really precise timing to avoid being grabbed by the cobra people, on top of having to avoid things coming out from under you originating from things offscreen makes me not too enthusiastic to do this part again.

>Avatar picture Seems fitting. I can appreciate the art as well.

>Vet I'm gonna have to finish NUR+ of all the games save Ascension before I'd make that claim on this board. On Gamefaqs or whatever I could throw that term around pretty liberally.

>Facial hair I sport a fashionable mustache. I've considered trying to grow it out and waxing it into a handlebar style, but it grows so long I'm literally biting it when I eat before it gets long enough to do that so I stopped trying.

>Hairy I'm of German and Scottish ancestry from as best as I can tell. I'm not full on Robin Williams looking, but from the waist up I have quite a bit more body hair than most men. I have male pattern baldness real bad. I started noticing it when I was 14. I'm well on my way to having full on horseshoe hair. I prefer to just go with the flow and keep it buzzed pretty short, especially in these hotter months.

>Sicilian Not the type of bloke to go against when death is on the line I've come to understand. I read a real good book called The Godfather and in that book you have to be Sicilian to join the mafia. Non Sicilians can still become mafia affiliates, but not full on members.

>Boxers these days A lot are, but really from what I can see most ruffians, vagrants, etc, are filtered out by the time they get out of the amateurs. Religious fanaticism is a much bigger issue with high level fighters nowadays. An example would be the upcoming Mayweather vs Guererro fight on Saturday. Guererro seems to seriously believe he's some sort of holy warrior sent by God to teach Mayweather a lesson for his hedonistic lifestyle.

>Tyson The guy was incredibly overrated, but he did have some notable talent. To me his speed was more impressive than his power. He did hit harder than the average fighter his size, but he was by no means comparable to Foreman, Shavers, Lyle, Liston. Even among heavyweights fighting in that era Gerry Cooney was a much harder puncher. Had he not let success go instantly to his head, and had he not acted like a complete idiot outside of the ring and gym his story may not have ended like it did.

>Ear bite He actually bit his ear twice, and afterwards when he was disqualified he tried to punch out security coming into the ring, and as he was being escorted out he tried to climb into the crowd to beat up some spectator. Since Mike Tyson in the 80s was so feared he liked to carry himself a certain way. Once his stint as a legitimate contender was over after his loss to Douglas he desperately wanted to regain that aura of being a scary guy, but he was revealed to not have much heart or courage when pushed, and he was too famous to be put up against tomato cans. His biting of the ear and later getting his face tattooed were both just childish attempts to regain what he had in the 80s.

>Beating up people on the street Not something I'd be interested in. I wouldn't want to get hurt and I'm not particularly keen on hurting someone else without real good reason.

>Punching and kicking Not too interested in kicks. I work out my legs more than my upper body though. If I were to box someone, which I have no intention of doing (I would like to one day become a trainer) I'd need all the strength in my legs to maintain stability and to keep myself moving. If I were to be punched with one leg extended like that it'd be really hard to avoid falling.

>Break from Ascension I don't blame you. I never even finished my vanilla VH run in favor of doing some challenge runs of the better games. Did they ever release that patch that changed ToA?

>Frustrated You've never felt frustrated with a video game?

>Angry gent of vidya I'm not familiar with that this is.

>Polish feminist

>Feminist naivety at it's worst.

>Avatar Where did you come across that picture?

>Did a NUR of 1 and is considered a vet I figured it'd take a little more than that to be considered any form of vet. I've done NUR of all the games except Ascension and I don't go around claiming to be a vet. Although if I were talking to some casual about the series I would not hesitate to refer to myself as so.

>Snake may fancy it Solid Snake? Snake Plisken? Jake the Snake?

>Hope I don't shave off body hair Not into manscaping? Me either and it gives me problems sometimes being that I'm very hairy. I get boils regularly from it even though I wash like a madman. I don't know if you've ever had one but boils hurt incredibly bad, and are profoundly unpleasant to deal with. I hope you never have to deal with one.

>Gentlemen and boxing It's true not many these days stick true to that spirit. Many are people with anger issues who simply like to fight. Mike Tyson is a good example.

>Homing in on Mike Tyson Why would you expect me to be homing in on this fellow? My main gripe is that the general public seems to view him as some sort of boxing legend, when really he only ever beat 1 great fighter ever in his career (Larry Holmes) and that was a decade after Holmes was in his prime. His trainers intentionally put him up against a bunch of tomato cans so he could establish a reputation as a huge first round knockout kind of fighter. He was exposed for the fraud he is when he fought James "Buster" Douglas, who dominated the fight with average at best boxing skills, but unlike previous Tyson opponents he showed no fear and was willing to use his height and reach advantage to really give Tyson a tough fight. Tyson had never in his career had a tough fight, and when placed in front of a fighter with real heart and decent skills he folded faster than Superman on laundry day.

>Boxing workouts I have a jump rope, speed bag, heavy bag, 2 pairs of 16 oz gloves, 2 weightlifting benches, 2 bars for lifting with the benches, many pairs of dumbells, although I really need to get some heavier ones, about 300 pounds in various sized weight plates, eliptical machine, and a track at an elementary school just 2 blocks away. Punching the heavy and speed bags require many fold more energy than I would have anticipated if you keep it up over several minutes.

>ER I have gotten wave 1 down pretty well, and wave 3 I'm well on my way to getting through consistently. The problem with wave 3 is actually that I keep messing up the QTEs for when I parry the gaze. It was getting a bit frustrating so I'm taking a few days break from my attempts, but I'll be back on it shortly. A lot of times in various games when I'm having trouble with something just taking a break for a short while and coming back really helps keep me from getting frustrated and burned out.

>Randall Flagg He's not the most powerful fictional character by any means, but he's a particularly fun villain to read about. He shows up in a lot of unexpected times and places.

>Machiavellian countenance Was it reminiscent of your avatar picture? That guy has a bad sunburn, and poor dental hygiene on top of being visually impaired. Looks a bit greasy too.

>Women What if one needed help with their NUR of 3 on top of having banging hips and an agreeable personality?

>Act like a child despite being an adult Quite a few women seem to have the ability to do this be their highest goal in life.

>Kidney stones I had one once. It hurt really really bad as I'm sure you have experienced

>The effort I drank a decent amount of soda as a kid but by the time I got out of high school my problem was more with snack foods like chips. Later on drinking beer was a problem too.

>Current shape I'm not quite ready to be waxed and oiled up myself, but I'm still making good progress.

>Running It's boring but it burns fat really fast.

>Weight lifting It can help burn fat by increasing your metabolism, but you might not lose much actual weight doing it unless you stick with it a long time because you'll be putting on muscle in addition to your calorie burn.

>Boxing The sport of gentlemen, but it's been in a decline ever since the 80s. The heavyweight division in particular has gone a long way downhill since it's hay day in the 70s when guys like Ali, Frazier, Holmes, Norton, Foreman, etc. were fighting. The fact that the division was dominated by Mike Tyson for so long (Tyson is one of the most overrated athletes in the history of the universe) shows that. Tyson did blatantly duck fighting Foreman though, as he and his camp knew Foreman would embarrass him with a first or second round knockout. As far as fitness goes boxing is an incredibly physically intensive sport, and the results yielded from doing boxing style workouts reflect that.

>Bad back I have that too. In fact maybe 5 or 6 months ago I threw my back out completely while working out and could barely stand for about a week.

>Lifting weights making you stronger I should lift more. I already have the hardest punch of anyone who's been in my boxing gym in my garage, and lifting weights is a grand way to increase strength.
