I've noticed that unless it's an endearing little indie title (and even then, they often have special categories for those to win an award in), a "one and done" type of game doesn't really go over well with the mainstream gaming media.
There has to be either some value (i.e. a lot of gameplay, or an online component, or high replayability) or it has to be an online game or something like that.
It's why games like Wukong or Space Marine 2 might get a nod, but they likely won't win many awards. They're one-and-done games, and they don't really take any risks or do anything special, even if they are good games.
Just my $0.02
at the risk of being "that guy" lol, wukong's not a one and done game.
it's full of secret areas, bosses, npcs, quests, weapons, armour, items etc. that require real exploration and experimentation to find. and they're not just tokenistic, there's some real chunky and game affecting content in there that'll unlock new play styles and alter the story and endings.
unless you play it following a detailed guide, it's highly unlikely you're going to find a lot of that stuff on a first run. finding it all in one play through will likely take between 40-60 hours, conservatively speaking. i've heard many on here say they wrapped everything in space marines up in 8-10 hours comparatively.
plus they've just released a new patch with a return of the rivals mode and gauntlet of legends mode with new boss challenges, movesets, weapons etc. it's 100% a game to replay. sorry :)
