i tried silent hill 2 remake and just couldn't get into it. it's a very slow start and i didn't think it did a good job of drawing you into the story and mystery (haven't played the originals). the gameplay felt a bit rough and rudimentary too. just didn't tickle me. had to park it.

Totally understandable. Yeah, Silent Hill (the Team Silent games, 1-4), are, and always will be, niche. You can enjoy the games on whatever level, but to really, really click with them, you've got to be a very, very specific type of person. Like, lost-wandering-soul-that-has-an-unbearable-predilection-for-rust-and-decay-and-the-distinct-sensation-of-teetering-on-the-event-horizon-of-vomit type.

Otherwise, probably best to just move on, lol.

that is very specific lol. why didn't they put that on the box? wouldve saved me some money

@Macutchi: i think the people that say they dont care how the characters look are the weird ones. Your paying money for entertainment. you have to look at it. you have to play as them in the game. On some real shit you have to listen to them talk to, so the dialogue and personality matters too. If people think its unappealing character why engage with it.

Its like saying you dont care about a character in a movie, or show, or book. if you dont care why would you even play a game like this. play a real video game. like banjo kazooi or pac man, where all that character stuff dont matter. But if your making games that revolve around character devolopment, narrative, story, yeah that shit matter, if your sacrificing core gameplay for narrative/cinematic experiance the way the character looks becomes super important.

but im with you, ef these types of games.

This is why we must destroy neal druckmann and get naughty dog to make Jak 4.

https://www.change.org/p/make-jak-4

all i'm bothered about at this stage is can they make a decent game.

we're 4 years into the gen and sony's cupboards are bare. not a sniff of anything new from their marquee studio. i know what they're capable of after seeing glimpses of it in tlou2 and i really want them to deliver something killer. shake off the bad habits of overly cinematising their games and double down on gameplay. that's all i care about right now.

what i do agree with you on is if the protagonist turns out to be an obnoxious fcker then that's a problem.

but her looks, i'm not arsed about. does she look a bit like ufc fighter jose aldo in that shot of her you posted? a bit, yes. am i bothered? no lol

there's a quote i like from frasier when he's responding to a guy who's called in to his radio show asking what he should call his new boat.

same energy when it comes to the new nd game protagonist. couldn't care less. genuinely bemused by people who do care so much

not sure if it's snubbed exactly, maybe more slept on or overlooked, but for me it's wukong.

feels like there's only three people on the forum who've played it, and every one of us say its their goty. hope more people give it a shot.

it takes a bit of time to sink its teeth into you, and there's a few niggles early on (invisible walls being one), but once it grips you, everything is forgiven and it opens up into something very special. not arsed about its cultural significance (full credit to game science for making a billion dollars from a $40m game though), all i care about is how it plays as a game, and wukong is a hell of a game

Mr. Perfect was a very underrated wrestler.

This audience sucks balls, be partly because at that point he hadn't been in since 1994 or something, but as soon as they see him perform their attitude changes.

Big Show is kind of a shit wrestler once get past his size, alot of this is Mr. Perfect making him look good.

when did you start watching wwf/e?

my first ppv was summerslam 91. my mate at primary school had sky and stayed up to record it for me on vhs, even paused it on the ad breaks, what a guy. couldn't believe my luck when he gave it to me, felt like i'd won the lottery. got home and was absolutely mesmerised by it. bret hart vs mr perfect was my favourite match. some proper top tier technical wrestling. felt like the intercontinental belt really meant something back then

i had real problems with elden ring and wukong earlier this year. could not stop playing them. waking up early to play, staying up late into the night playing. load of other side hobbies, responsibilities etc. went out of the window. didn't help that wukong dropped just as i was getting done with my second consecutive playthrough of shadow of the erdtree so the baton of addiction was passed without any break in between.

was a fun few months and got so much enjoyment out of those games but i was hyper aware of how much other life stuff was slipping because of them.

need to caveat it with it's such a rare feeling to get consumed by games in that way these days, it took me back to being a kid and that pure pleasure i used to get out of so many games back in the earlier days of gaming. very rarely happens where a game grips me to that extent any more

its got its charms, given how good a job they do of creating an authentic feeling indy adventure, but strip away all that superficial stuff and you're left with a game with clunky, bog standard mechanics and full of ubisoft style busy work side quests. if youre a person ok with that formula and that kind of presentation over gameplay / substance style, then i can see why you'd enjoy it

@Litchie: yeah you can, but they're still very different. dark souls in general is slower paced, more strategic, more defensive with more build options. bloodborne is all about fast attacks and aggression, with no blocking, just dodging and parrying.

and the lovecraft stuff doesn't really appear until late game when it starts to morph into cosmic horror. early on it's all beasts, blood and gothic horror, that's another one of the great things about the game, how well the horror theme evolves

@brimmul777: It's Dark Souls with a Lovecraft theme. It's a little bit faster than Dark Souls and it only runs in 30 fps. Get it if you like Dark Souls and if you can stand its bad performance, don't if you don't.

i'm sure i remember you saying said you hadn't played it.

it's much faster paced than dark souls. there's no shields, it's all about aggression and attacking. yharnam is amazing to explore, the level design and aesthetic is fantastic, full of mystery and secrets, and it's probably the most atmospheric game fromsoft have made. no game captures being in a nightmare better
