i want to see the next patches address stealth, because this could be an amazing stealth game if light, sound and environmental cover were a factor in enemies spotting you, right now they don't seem to be. and prone would be the icing on the cake.
...
Yeah I'm experiencing a lot of "enemy seeing you from a mile away" issues which makes stealth very difficult. Reminds me of original Far Cry lol, dudes in watchtowers sniping you before they're even rendered on screen.
As you said, there's a lot of opportunity here but I feel it is wasted. Came across a gunfight between mutants and bandits and tried to be sneaky but they knew I was there when they shouldn't have. Lots of examples like that. Could have been a really emergent bit of excellent, dynamic gameplay but sort of got ruined by that.
Really love the game, but needs some patches, balance, and maybe some mods before I am going to sit down with it and make it my main game.
yeah it's very far cry-esque in that regard.
even more so far cry 2. same sort of deal as stalker 2 too. had the perfect terrain for stealth, a genuine requirement for it through the game's premise and no cheap tall grass patches everywhere to delegitimise it. but for some reason ubi didn't think to include it.
had the exact same eagle eyed enemies sniping you from a mile away too, and no prone to boot. it being overlooked in far cry 2 was particularly egregious because crysis has launched several months before and showed just how well stealth could complement a sandbox shooter in a similarly jungled environment. nearly 20 years on, stalker 2 has no excuse.
sneaking up on a building through the grassland in the pitch dark and having that ubisoft-like "enemy is spotting you" indicator flash up on screen before getting sniped and not even being able to see where they come from is so obviously shit. i really, really hope its fixed in an update
