@eelektrik This is true. The PS4 and Xbox 720 are not going to be the quantum leaps everyone is thinking they'll be. Other developers (like BioWare) have already echoed this. Instead, we're going to get very over-priced consoles with hardware that isn't really necessary.
However, Nintendo's real blunder isn't the hardware. It's the fact that they didn't launch with a huge exclusive line-up. Exclusives are what sell consoles. Not third-party multi-plats that already exist on your competitors consoles.
What Nintendo is failing to understand is that even though the original Wii was the biggest selling system of it's generation, most of it's owners also had either a PS3 or an Xbox 360 along side it as well. And although I feel the Wii U's current library is far more "hardcore" than the previous Wii was, no one is going to by a $299/$350 Wii U console to play $59 games that they can already play on their PS3/360.
I don't think we're going to see a surge in Wii U sales until some of those "Nintendo Only" titles start surfacing. And even then, I think it's going to take more than just that to sustain it. Nintendo has to evolve beyond just Mario, Zelda and Pokemon. They have to really expand alot as a software company and bring in some new blood not only to create new IPs, but new gaming engines as well (since companies like Epic and many others are unwilling to support them).
The Wii U is not a dead system. Not yet. It's completely saveable. But I believe it's directly on Nintendo's shoulders to save it.
@jer_1 Something is clearly wrong then. My speed more than doubled (just as the article says). I don't even see loading screens now. In fact, the OS now loads faster than my hard drive can load all my downloads to the Gamepad. It's quite nice!
But in the meantime, there are 10 Call of Duty Games, 9 Resident Evil Games, 14 Final Fantasy Games, 11 Battle Field Games, 7 Halo Games, 7 Metal Gear Games, 5 Dead Or Alive Games, 10 Tomb Raider Games, 7 Grand Theft Auto Games, 7 Splinter Cell Games, 9 Far Cry Games and soon to be 7 Assassin's Creed Games.
All of these other games from the rest of the industry that Tom and Peter neglected to mention, yet they're "angry" at Nintendo?
The entire industry is guilty of what's being discussed here.
It isn't just Nintendo, it's the ENTIRE INDUSTRY. How many more Call of Duty games are we going to get pummeled with? Or how about Assassin's Creed? Or Grand Theft Auto? Or Metal Gear? Or Splinter Cell? Or Halo? Etc.
As you can see, everyone in the industry is doing the same exact thing. Why aren't you talking about them as well?
How can you two be "angry" at Nintendo for it, but not everyone else?
