[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"]If you can make toast you have the skillset to build a computer._Pedro_

No offense but thats BS, its very intimidating for newbies.

yes intimidating, but it's really easy. I personally think it's fun aswell,

it might be indimidating but anyone can do it, any human being is capable of learning, its not a mystical bound or a natural talent, its not skill required either, its pretty much the same thing as playng lego.

Or... buy something already made. Plug it in. It works. No research. No planning. That's time saved. In my world, time is at a premium.

VoodooHak

Time is a premium, yet you find enough time to play extensively? Or is it that you do nothing more than gaming in your life?

Why does it have to be either one extreme or the other? I dont' remember ever saying I play extensively. If you could point out where I said that, I'll correct myself. As you can see, my gamerscore is well below 10k, so I'm behind the 1337 curve on XBL. I just don't see how that's "extensive".

I just play as time permits. And when it does permit, I can't be bothered to tinker around. I want to put in a new game and start playing within a minute. I take my spare time seriously.

I really don't undertand how someone can say spare time is precious and still use it for gaming. Yet claim a mere 1 hour (yes 1 hour, I can do it in 30minutes if I hurry) of building your own pc is wasting time.

If I used spare time for things that were necessary, then it really wouldn't be called spare time, would it?

And maybe you just missed my other post, but I gave other reasons why I don't game on a PC in general.

building pc's are a hobby, its not necessary people do it because they enjoy reserching and building their rigs, and some people do it because its a good way to spare money, its not necessery but id say 99% of computer gamers build their own rig, almost no gamer buy their pc's prebuilt

I built my first computer this summer. Choosing the parts might take some time. Go on forums, ask, search around. It's nothing hard to do. I built it in one day. While I did have some moments of frustration I managed to pull through and it wasn't THAT hard. Ir's also a nice learning experience.

By the way yes it is possible to make a 600$ PC that can buy Crysis on high. What people don't get is that a lot of the costs are from the monitor, case, keyboard, mouse. You can save a LOT of money by just buying cheap ones that work perfectly fine. Maybe your computer won't look super nice from the outside but you'll be playing crysis on max.

Lets say you get the cheapest keyboard, mouse, monitor ect... and spend the bulk of the $600 on the CPU, Vid and MB......No way are you going to be able to play Crysis on Max setting at a decent resolution, not at a stable frame rate over 30+.

so , who is demanding you of being capable of running crysis at ultra high on 1900xxxx resolutions? a 600$ pc should be enough to run it at medium/high at least at 1024x768 or maybe even 1280x1024, you dont need to run the game at ultra high, crysis is one of the few games that will look that good for a while, most games wont require a hardware that strong, and playng it on medium/high will still look amazing

[QUOTE="gamer620"]console fanboys refuse to acknowledge that you can still buy a decent PC for under 1500 dollars that will play games liek crysis on high settings. You don't needt o buy from expensive outlets like Alienware or Falcon to have a decent PC. You can buy an excellent dual core system from Cyber Power Inc (www.cyberpowerinc.com) for under 1500.F-14Bombcat

I think the whole point was that Hermits were saying you could build a good gaming PC for $600 or so. Something that would be comparable to either the 360 or PS3 in terms of performance. Now Hermits are saying that it's $1000 - $1500 or so which in effect doubles or tripples the cost of said systems. Now for those that either don't want to or don't know how to build a PC it would be much easier to just buy a 360 or PS3 now. You'll get to play great games with great graphics (maybe not as great as the PC) without the hassle of up keep andmaintanence of a gaming PC.

I am sitting here with a $600 dollar computer that maxes out ANY GAME I have tried on it so far. The first game that my system won't be able to play on high settings is Crysis, but even then, medium settings are still awe inspiring.

You can build a $600 dollar PC that can run everything on high, and better than any console game, it is just a matter of researching and planning.

Or... buy something already made. Plug it in. It works. No research. No planning. That's time saved. In my world, time is at a premium.

See, I find the research and planning part of the fun of building a PC. After you finish building it, that feeling that you get when you are finished and it works, is utter bliss :D. I would rather spend the extra time and know that I have the ultimate gaming machine instead of just opening a box and plugging it in. I am proud that I am a PC gamer and to know that I am part of an elite gaming group that appreciates working for something instead of opening a box:).

also that extra planing you did will save you from future head aches and accuatly end up sparing your time since it will be wellplaned chances are the failure rate will be lower and that your rig will also last longer then a pre built one.

PC shooters are not any better than console shooters. When I play STALKER I get bored so quickly and go back to playing Halo 3.

So if console shooters are 5 to 6 years behind PC shooters, PC developers need to go back to 5 or 6 years ago and add voice support to all games and make all thier games compatible with all PC hardware. Also they may want to come out with a controller that actually works well with all PC games so you don't have to use the Mouse and Keyboard with the controller while playing.

l-_-l

You do realize that you can use a 360 controller on the PC right?

also all pc games can have voice support, and most recent shooters come with it as a standard feature, yes even before halo came out..

also stalker is more of an first person rpg then a rts its a completely diferent gameplay scheme

your pc doesnt automatically save the game users that you play against, like the ps3 (i dont know bout 360)

it doesnt get the RROD thing that the 360 does

vanheusen

steam has a historic with the latest players you played, so you can get in touch with them if you would like to

Sounds more like an Easter-Egg to me that would be in the final release if its true, but they definately wouldn't add it to the BETA.1005

i think people meant that you can throw them around, like you can do with bodies, but i belive thats a singleplayer feature only.
