Rant: Hamburgers

Well guys, it's me again and in time for another rant. Today's rant will be all dedicated to: Hamburgers.

Yes people, I'm ranting today about one of the most disgusting things ever thought of by man, hamburgers. These literal heart attacks on a bun that have basically no nutritional value whatsoever, take an entire cow to make, and in general all taste like waste. I have seen a ton of people eat these things back in my day, but to me, these people must have no taste spuds whatsoever because every burger I have tried tastes like total garbage, for real. I don't care what they're grilled on, fried on, or even boiled on, they all taste the same to me in tasting just plain disgusting. Most of them even taste the same no matter how many artificial toppings you put on these thigns and they don't make digesting them any better.

Why on hamburgers? Because every time I talk about how I don't like them, people ask me, "How can you not like hamburgers? They are so good!" No they are not. They are disgusting attempts at feeding the already obese people of America who for some reason need to eat meat because they can't handle trying to take in a few vegetables every once in a while.

And probably the biggest perpetrators for making this garbage are the big name burger makers that manage to make these things worldwide. Of course I'm talking about companies like McDonalds or Burger King and all the other burger chains that bother to make their "food" accessible to people across the world. I mean really, do either of these chains take into account that countries like India don't eat cow meat? So what's the point of going global anyway if there are people who won't even bother buying their crap anyway? Despite that, they still manage to sell to billions every day just by churning out these awful excuses of food.

What's worse is the fact that I'm pretty sure that anybody out there reading this is probably an avid burger eater as well. Really it's you guys who are buying them by the dozen even, occasionally it might be for you and a few other people but most of the time it's always just for you since the average American likes to eat more meat in a day than a bear eats before hibernation.

Bear this much in mind, I have not even begun to cover the worst thing about hamburgers either. Easily the worst thing about them is that if you manage to digest enough of these things, you end up becoming one of the 300 million overweight people who live in this country. In fact let me show you guys something, do any of you want to end up looking like this bedridden son of a worthless @$$ here?
Picture of me

Yeah, I didn't think so. My advice, try and stop eating these things for once in your day if it's too much trouble to give up entirely.

Of course I know that not everybody is able to live without whatever substance hamburgers are made out of, so here's a solution: Jerky is everything hamburgers are and much more. Jerky has actually been proven to be healthier and more economical like from Jack Links. They come in a single package, only cost a dollar for many different flavors, and they taste awesome!

Sunday Ramblings: P(&*TG

A smile is the shortest distance between two people, which obviously makes a frown all the moredifficult to walk through. This is Sunday Ramblings!

Hi everybody, a lot of things have happened to me as of late. Just to make a long story short, I won't be able to get any new games for quite a while. I know I said it would only be a Lent thing, but it's now going to be a lot longer than what was planned. I don't really want to go over what happened, but it's a situation that I hope nobody else ever has to go through even though I'm pretty sure many people will.

It's not so bad though, because as I said my backlog is bigger than sin and it might actually give me a chance to beat some of my games. On a side note, I think it will also give me a chance to start reviewing again. I have been meaning to do so for the longest time and I kind of miss doing it, but now I think I might have a chance. Maybe one of these days I'll be able to get into a regular swing of it, and I hope to do so.

It's not much, but I don't really have much else to say. The stuff that happened last week that I ranted on and what just happened today have been something for me to force me to get my act together again somehow. I'll have to find something to do, but I hope to get through it. This isn't an e-drama blog, so it's probably an obvious reason why I decided not to go over it, it is a more personal reason for me after all.

Another short one like I sometimes manage to churn out, but that's what happened for me this week. Word of advice: Avoid Rebecca Black like the plague. Your ears will slit themselves seconds after hearing "Friday".

Sunday Ramblings: Disaster Exploitation Rant

Hey everybody it's me again, and usually I have plans of just doing a lighthearted and easy to do SR every week, but over the past few days there has been a subject that's really been gnawing at me in several ways that I never thought possible. So you've read the title and know what the subject will be about tonight.

I haven't kept track of how many days it's been since the 8.8 earthquake and tsunami hit in Japan, I believe it might have been about two weeks or somewhere around that time. The situation of this happening didn't really surprise me all that much considering Japan is located in a section of the Pacific where a ton of natural disasters are ever present and it's something that has been going on for thousands of years even after civilization managed to settle there. It doesn't make the event any less tragic though, and of course there's also the nuclear plants that were hit and are spreading radiation problems because of how hard they were hit. It's an unfortunate event that happened, but we just don't have the power to stop things like these from happening as of yet unfortunately.

These events tie into my rant subject though in the following way though: On Youtube, I've learned to treat the internet drama that occurs there as entertainment ever since a certain event that happened about three years ago. I've learned to watch video commentaries from people like MSkull01 and SpaceScreaminJohn make fun of the total wackos of the internet like Chris-Chan and obsessive fanboy/girls who can't handle another person's opinions. There are however points where the drama ends up getting too low even for what my tastes have become, and you guessed it, Japan managed to become the centerpiece of way more than I was able to take.

So I'll present examples in the order I saw them and what ensued. The first case is this Youtube Partner named LifeInATent who made a video that basically attempted to make a sick joke about what went down and he ended it with the phrase, and I quote, "Thumbs up for epic earthquake!" The end result was that he managed to attract a lot of negative feedback and MSkull01 did a One Shot Commentary on it calling out his heartlessness of the situation. And what does LifeInATent do? He files a DMCA claim and gets the video removed just because it pointed out on the remark he made on the earthquake. And not long after does LIAT make another video on the same subject basically trying to cover his tracks and make it seem as though he was somehow taken the wrong way with everything he said. It failed needless to say and the videos only seemed to serve in once again garnering several thousand views from the people who for whatever reason managed to stay subscribed to him.

I could understand if LIAT was trying to lift the spirits of the people who went through the disaster, but this was not the right way to go about doing it. Earlier this year in Tucson, Arizona when Gabrielle Giffords and many other people were shot and some killed, The Daily Show and The Colbert Report did cover this event even though they are both comedic approaches to covering current events. Despite this, you didn't hear John Stewart claiming that the suspect killer was probably a Republican or see Stephen Colbert call the event a successful operation to get one less Democrat out of commission. Instead, they covered the people who were actually saying this, the journalists who dismissed the funeral procedures as a "show" and said that Gabrielle Giffords had it coming, instead of making these jokes these guys tore them apart. John and Stephen were basically calling out bad journalism when it was around, and believe me there was a lot of bad journalism when this shooting took place. Really if there ever was a seat for firing journalists for the stupid things they said that day, there would be so many pink slips to hand out.

This is basically what LifeInATent did though, he basically said, "LOL an Earthquake hit Japan. 8.8 on the Ricther scale is so cool guys. Now thumbs up and subscribe for epic earthquake." I'm not sure what the casualty rates are yet for what happened, but really LIAT is going to have to actually come out and admit he done goofed big time before he can ever be considered as a credible channel worth viewing again in my book at least.

And before I'm finished, I've got another two examples. Yes people, the earthquake and tsunami really managed to be the center of attention to the point of making it a sad excuse of a bandwagon. There is another user on Youtube who has actually been blaming this event on a fictional planet called Nibiru. I know that this Nibiru theory has been going on for several years, but only now I have pretty much heard of it and this user actually manages to claim that this planet was apparently the cause of the disaster. I'm not kidding guys, this guy actually says that there's apparently a "tenth" planet in our solar system and that it somehow lining up with our planet in the right way managed to make this happen. This is more just some crazed fantasy than anything and I really wish to think that nobody actually took this stuff seriously. The stuff still manages to sound like some kind of Scientology Eulogy for some reason and I can't believe anybody is still following it after this happening.

And last but not least, a woman named Tamtampamela who actually managed to make a video claiming that this earthquake was apparently the result of when Christians around the world gathered at the beginning of Lent and prayed for God to make his presence known to the world. You can probably guess where this is leading up and yes she actually went there. She actually claimed that this earthquake and tsunami was the result of Christians around the world praying for something like this to happen. Now it's one thing to base the cause of a natural disaster on something totally fantastical and made up while not even bothering to attempt making your case seem actually plausible. When you drag in religious faith however, an aspect that means something in the lives of a ton of people, that's just outright being a real offender. And just for a cherry on top, she actually goes on to say that this disaster was supposed to be the beginning and that it would carry over into America because of the Atheist population that's present so that God can wipe them out.

To add to this situation, apparently Tamtampamela is also another Youtube troll who is Atheist and wants to get portions of the Christian community angry with the videos that she makes. You know what? LifeInATent also was apparently a troll as well as the guy with the Nibiru theory. I can understand trolling a person who has been doing something bad in the personal lives of others or with their freedoms as a Youtube user, but when it comes to resorting to making a joke out of something that killed thousands of people at least, that's just infuriating. It would be like if some comedians in Paris made fun of Hurrican Katrina based on what the culture is down there and joking about how the street might as well be finally clean and the heathens purified or tons of other heartless stuff along those lines. I know it might have happened, but in general this is not a productive way of making the situation any better or helping fix the lives of those who were hurt with what happened.

What can I say? There was a ton of stuff that went on these past few days in regards to the tsunami and earthquake and I did not expect to see so much of it happen over this course of time. I remember reading a comment on chocolate1325's blog about how there were apparently people on Facebook who were saying that this disaster was supposed to be payback for Pearl Harbor which was probably part of what sparked me to do this rant. I hope you all get the idea, this is a country that while it certainly isn't a third world country has been hit very hard and needs a ton of support from anybody who's capable of offering any. Besides, even if there were any jokes to be had, it would really be way too soon to find many things to laugh about. It is also true that I ranted on a handful of trolls on Youtube, but it's important to remember that these were trolls who were trying to take advantage of an event that killed as many people as it did as well as bring out the possibility of more radiation dangers.

That's pretty much the note to end off on. Exploitation of a natural disaster is just really sad for me. There are tons of people who have potentially lost their way of life for a very long time and aren't getting any help for it. I find it really sad of how it seems that humanity has advanced so much as far as technology and yet even on a real world scale we barely have the capacity to act like mature adults who are willing to address the situation and try to make a solution possible. I may have gone on longer than I needed to, but those are just how I feel regarding what I've witnessed recently. I hope next week we'll be able to get back to the usual routine.

Sunday Ramblings: (Not So) Bad Day L.A.

If our early lessons of acceptance were as successful as our early lessons of anger, I can't see how our nation would have made any progress on a social level. This is Sunday Ramblings!

Well guys, I have finally got to see more eventful things going on. I got back a few hours ago after seeing Battle: Los Angeles right after getting done with work. Sweet, fun as coolness movie I really enjoyed after having seen an aggressively mediocre movie and an overall just plain good movie about a month ago. I know some people might be a bit put off by it considering it was done by the same guy who did The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and it might remind them of Skyline somewhat given the premise, but this is way better than either believe me. The story is done before, but it's like a spiritual successor to Independence Day of sorts and that's pretty much what I was hoping for when I went in. The acting was pretty good, and the music was really cool and added a lot of intensity to the battle and drama scenes and they actually worked pretty well together. If I had any complaints I think it would be that the alien designs weren't all that interesting (they looked like Prawns in an early stage of development) and the reason behind the plot was pretty iffy and borderline ill-found. That plot was still more plausible than Skyline though. Anybody who's interested, check it out it's a really fun alien invasion action movie fighting against the invaders.

Back onto gaming, some people might have seen that I picked up a lot of games recently and it's pretty much my Fat Tuesday for Lent. It's a Catholic thing even though I'm not 100% devout it's something of a self-improvement thing. In a nutshell, it's the time of year where I actually put some effort into achieving some form of New Year's resolution. Games I got: Dragon Age II, Dreamcast Collection, Mindjack, along with two games that I've been looking for after quite a while: Rise of the Argonauts and Supreme Commander 2. So at least I'll have something to go off of when waiting for Easter of this year. And even if I do beat them all before then, I'll just have to get around to actually beating more of my games seeing that my backlog is bigger than a Redwood Tree. It would also help considering that I still have some bills to pay, so I'll be able to get out of that scenario. This is a diary after all, so don't take this as preaching of some sort.

Dragon Age II I have enjoyed so far, and trust me the side quest glitch that has been found does work. You also don't have to worry about how fast you tap the A button either, just don't move from the character and you'll still get exp. and gold if you just stand in place besides the character. This is the 360 version anyway. I know there's dislike for this game because of how it's more casualized than its predecessor and I like the game because of that, it actually was what I was hoping Dragon Age: Origins would be like. But what do I know? I like Final Fantasy XIII for a number of the reasons that people didn't like it, so don't bother listening to my opinions.

In the Dreamcast Collection, I've only been playing Sonic Adventure so far because I like being able to play a game I've always enjoyed with the benefit of achievements. I heard Crazy Taxi was one of the Dreamcast's best so I can't wait to play it, and I think Space Channel Part 2 and Sega Bass Fishing have some acclaim last time I checked.

I have been playing some of Mindjack just because I was curious about it in part because of the negative press it was getting. I'm just that kind of person and I wanted to see what it was like, and so far it doesn't seem like a very bad game it just has really sub-par production values. The first boss was a bit of a nuisance but I beat it. I did get something of a glitch though, I beat all of the enemies in one of the levels and then I wasn't able to progress and I think it might have been because I didn't destroy this hovercraft enemy seeing I ran out of rocket launcher ammo.

I know there are some big name releases coming out, but at least I'll be able to go on a binge of sorts when Lent ends. Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy, Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars, and Shogun 2: Total War are the ones I definitely want and good news Homefront has been getting good reviews so far so it might be worth checking out after all. Above much else though, I hope to save up enough for a 3DS when it becomes available. Those are my goals and I hope to solve some of my monetary issues down the road. Fortunately there are more releases coming out in May than there are in April so I hope my backlog might decrease somewhat before then. Life sounds like fun doesn't it? When important things are getting this close to finishing it sure can be.

Sunday Ramblings: The Music of Ys is Awesome!

I'd like to congratulate Mr. M. Night Shyamalan for his most award winning film in years. He earned every one of them and so much more. This is Sunday Ramblings!

A random title I know, but it is the case. I have obtained Ys I & II Chronicles a few days ago and the music is just plain cool beyond comparison. Ys I is an old school game obviously, and that's pretty much why it has so few items in comparison to the adventure games of today and also has this feature of buttonless combat. It's basically just walking into the enemy and the damage for both Adol and the enemy happens. It's basically a Legend of Zelda clone and one of the many good ones fortunately. Of course back on topic, I flaunt the music a lot because the music is just so cool. Out of the soundtrack from the series, I think my favorite song so far would be Mother Earth Altago from Ys Seven. Thought I'd explain the reasoning for the title somehow. Other news time.

A bit of another note, I have made a major accomplishment. I have found 9 Persons 9 Hours 9 Doors! If you haven't heard of this game, I amaze myself in missing this game as well actually. I checked out siberian142's blog one time and siberian mentioned the game and I decided to check it out for myself. After doing some quick research, I went all, "Holy Shrimp! Where was this game?!" Problem was though that Best Buy wasn't carrying it and almost every Gamestop in my area didn't seem to be carrying it. So the story is that a few days ago I went to a Gamestop I usually didn't go to intent on picking up Two Worlds II Royal Edition and Radiant Historia. What chance the stars lined up that day though, I found it. I don't know if it's become something of a rarity in other places, but 9 Persons pretty much has become one in my area. Needless to say, nailed it!

As for the game itself, really cool so fare even though there is a ton of text to read through. Main gameplay is like the "escape-from-the-room" point and click games you may have played at one point and has a focus on math as well with an emphasis on the "digital root." Basically it's what happens when you add multiple numbers and keep adding them up until you are left with one digit, and it's pretty significant to the story. Also in typical point and click fashion, be sure to point and click everything as in "EVERYTHING". I was stuck on the first room of the game when trying to escape and I couldn't find a way to solve this briefcase puzzle because I didn't gather all of the clues that I was supposed to find.

Also in terms of story, it starts off with a really cool hook and makes you want to see where everything goes from the get go. The spoiler free short version I can offer is that it's probably the closest thing to an anime adaptation of the Saw series as we're going to get. I know some might find that an odd idea, but we can pretty much all agree that that concept alone is better than Saw IV. And can somebody tell me why there aren't that many images of the character Lotus out there? This game may have established its status as an obscurity, but that shouldn't be an excuse that she doesn't have sites everywhere dedicated to her. Just check her out and you'll see what I mean.

Over the past week I also managed to surprise myself as far as what I been playing. I finally got around to playing Dragon Age: Origins to the ending. For some reason I never got into the game at first and then over time after playing it I somehow managed to do so and then it became an on again, off again experience. Basically some days I was in to it and others I wasn't. At least I managed to do so in time for Dragon Age II. From everything I've seen on Dragon Age II, the gameplay and presentation is shaping up to be what I was hoping Dragon Age I would be like. It is kind of unfortunate Bioware went back to selecting from six character model options, but I do like the inclusion of the dialogue wheel from Mass Effect as well as the voiced main character.

Today Pokemon Black and White Version have been released. Do enjoy the sweet, sweet milk of the franchise that will never die. I couldn't get it today because I had to go to work and work on a paper. In the near future though, I'll contribute.

Outside of MLB 11: The Show, that's pretty much everything significant for this week. Next week though it will feature several big releases. Homefront will be out on the 15th and I am praying to all existence that this isn't the new Turning Point: Fall of Liberty. Specifically that Turning Point was an FPS that had a really cool premise and then turned out to be one of the worst shooters of this gen. Homefront just brings me back to those days when I was really looking forward to the game and then disappointed by it not getting that much positive reception or selling all that well. Granted the overall plot of the game so far is pretty kooky, but it is a unique one at the very least. It is being developed by Kaos Studios, a developer whose only game was Frontlines: Fuels of War from 2008. It did manage to get good reviews overall, so hopefully Kaos hasn't lost their touch in that time period.

On a side note: Yakuza 4 same week. Make sure that this game sells! … I'd buy it myself if only I was able to play the game :(. I am also happy to see that one of my most anticipated games will be coming out the same day: Total War: Shogun 2! Thank you Creative Assembly!

Those are the games for this week anyway and 2011 is shaping up pretty well if I say so myself. All we need now are more release dates.

Sunay Ramblings: p9adhrg

Natalie Portman says she's pregnant with a boy. If any of her prior motherhood experiences are any indication, it would probably be smart for her to avoid the father for a few months. This is Sunday Ramblings!

Guys I'm exhausted out of my mind. Now that the first two months are passed for this year, it's time for me to do a ton of work and deal with my last two months of college. I'm trudging through it though, and I haven't exactly reached the breaking point of insanity yet. Maybe it will happen when I'm out and I can finally be done, though I'll have to see where the rest of my life goes from there.

And news for what I'm playing recently, I am after all this time a Kingdom Hearts Initiate. I've been playing Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep as the jumping point to know the main flow of the overall story. I know that in making this public my odds of getting laid have decreased by 97% (jk), but that's not so bad when my chances were ever that good to begin with. I was mixed about trying out the series when I was younger because of my attitude towards Disney back in 2006 and that point on until fairly recently. I know Disney is pretty much just a tack on portion of the series, but since they still have copyright to the characters used that's what pretty much made up for my overall hesitance. Now that it's pretty much done I can enjoy the game and I have been. I've beaten the chapters for Terra and Ventus and I am now working on Aqua's chapter before I complete it.

I can't think of much else to write, I hope at least last week's blog was decent. I amazingly enough still have blog material to bring out, and this is just another boring week for me, can you name anything else new with me?

Sunday Ramblings: The Next-Gen Begins

How beautiful maleness is if it finds the right expression. That's why so many of us males are successful when we go for the middle-aged virgin look. This is Sunday Ramblings!

Well guys, here's my entry to thoughts on 3DS and NGP so far. I'm not in too much of a situation to really talk about my current status, so I figured why not tackle this topic? I'm pretty bored and figured I'd try and say what I can in regards to them both. Besides, it is the beginning of the eighth gen of gaming once they get their spotlight, so I might as well get it out there so I can see if I was right or wrong in retrospect.

So if it seems like the Wii doesn't have the same wide amount of variety and upcoming titles that it had from last year (at least as of yet, could change), my reasoning would be that it would seem Nintendo is going to be making the 3DS it's spearhead for this year. I did a list of ten games that would be coming out this year when the 3DS would arrive, although not too many of them have a firm release date as of yet with the exception of the ones listed on gamefaqs so far.

An obvious selling point for the system at this point is obviously the 3D without need of any glasses, I'm not sure if that's what contributes to the battery life or not. As you may have heard the 3DS is supposed to have a battery life of about 3 to 5 hours depending on the brightness settings. I know there might be some doubt about 3D just going the way of almost any other gimmick selling point, but I think that the 3D on the 3DS might be a starting point for the rejuvenated technology if companies start to pick up on it. The convenience is there and with more companies striving to introduce 3D into their tech, it could be just a matter of time before 3D becomes an option for the home media and possibly the next generation of consoles. Of course I'm not saying that all of the software and ideas applied into 3D will do it well, but there always have to be stinkers in order to let improvement come along.

I do think the 3DS will have a pretty easy time settling into the market at this rate with the current fascination of 3D and the number of games that will be available for it. Kid Icarus Uprising alone has people interested, even remade ports like Ocarina of Time and Super Street Fighter 4 have garnered interest and it's obvious that by being the first one out the gate that developers will be able to get accustomed to the 3DS at a faster pace than the NGP. It will be cheaper and easier to develop for and who knows how the library will grow from that point on.

One advantage that I'm sure some might be anticipating is probably another feature the 3DS took a hint from the PSP, movie support. So far titles haven't been confirmed but How to Train Your Dragon, Tangled, and Legend of the Guardians: Owls of Ga'Hoole are possible at this point which shows that Nintendo has worked out deals with Paramount Pictures, Disney, and Warner Bros. With this being the case, I hope that the three decide to support it more than Dreamworks did the Video Replay library. Basically the GBA was actually doing movies before the PSP made it mainstream, but the GBA only supported Shrek, Shrek 2, and Shark Tale for movies on the go. It is a bit of a last thing on my mind worry, but I'd really like to be able to see Tron: Legacy and Transformers: Dark of the Moon in 3D on the go if they become options.

So on the NGP, Sony is returning to the handheld market and this time has the intent on making a portable system with the powerhouse of a home console under it. This is a pretty amiable effort considering that there are a lot of gamers who would like to be able to play current-gen home console games on the go. There are pros and there are cons to this situation, these are just some of the pros that I can think of.

One thing I really like about the NGP is the second analog stick, which is something that I think the PSP should have had in general. The PSP does have 3D games that overall worked even without another analog stick, but really would have benefited from another one in general. Especially games like Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines, it would be much easier to just move the camera with a second analog stick than have to hold the shoulder button and use the face buttons.

If you need assurance of the NGP's processing power, the system seems to be capable of running games like Metal Gear Solid 4, Lost Planet 2 and Yakuza of the End. If Sony is willing to allow Playstation 3 games onto the new handheld, this shows with a lot of certainty that Sony must be getting ready for next gen and their next console. The NGP will also have backwards compatibility with downloadable Playstation minis, PSOne Cla ssics, videos, and comics through PlayStation Store.

And with the new analog stick, it's showing that first person shooters will be made possible for the new handheld since there's games in development for Killzone, Resistance, and Call of Duty. This was pretty problematic for a number of games that were released back in the day because of the lack of a second analog stick I mentioned before. I'll admit it doesn't exactly make me excited as the 3DS, but there should be a decent amount of games for its debut and will surely get more as time passes by.

The NGP will also have a touch screen function on the back and this actually makes sense when considering that there are already two analog sticks on the front to hold the device with and now touch controls can be added without having the addition feel too detrimental. It will pretty much be a question of how developers will work with the touch screen but there's bound to be some people who will manage to pull it off successfully.

Unfortunately the NGP is not exactly going to be a perfect release at the current time and considering what Sony's strategy for the release will be, it shows. Basically this is what Sony is planning to do, sell the NGP below the actual cost of the product, and so far have not bothered identifying what their definitive audience. Not only that, but being able to bring Playstation 3 games to the handheld doesn't seem like the perfect idea to encourage developers to develop games with the NGP in mind. Adding further problems, by the time the NGP is released in what Sony plans for the holidays of this year and around next year in Europe and America the Playstation 3 will be a cheaper investment for buying the same games that will be offered and can be played on a bigger screen. At least Nintendo knows this and is just remaking older games with some new features whether it be sharper textures or 3D effects to differentiate themselves. Even third party games like Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked are taking steps to differentiating their games with voice acting and added gameplay options. Maybe the same could be said of the ports developers will make for the NGP but who knows if a touch screen will really be able to change that much.

Of course there is also the question of what the year after release will result in, pretty much the same thing that happened to the PSP if it's lucky. It will have support strong out the gate and then over the years fade and fade until only a handful of developers are seriously willing to develop good games for it and even fewer of them are rewarded for doing so. Considering the 3DS will be cheaper to develop for, be easier to develop for, and is likely to have 3D as a selling point, the NGP will have a lot to strive for if it wants to be the worthwhile competitor its predecessor was. I know some might disagree about the PSP, but I thought it made a good run considering that it's pretty much the first handheld to actually stand a chance against Nintendo's essential monopoly of the market. Of course it is a question of taste in games, blah blah blah.

So as far as games that I'd like to see, the 3DS does have the entry line up that makes me anticipate it's release to the point of where I could list ten to look forward to. Of course many of the games that haven't been confirmed as far as official titles yet, there are ones that I could dream of to see happen. Example, the untitled Final Fantasy game I'd like to see be Final Fantasy VI since I was waiting for it on the DS, but could possibly be even better on the 3DS. Maybe later on Nintendo could also do a Donkey Kong Country game built for the 3DS or a Super Smash Bros. game that many would have liked to see on the DS. I'd imagine it would be titled Super Smash Bros. Battle for some reason. Oh yeah and No More Heroes on the 3DS would be epic for blood and 3D mixing into one for that reason alone.

On the NGP, I'm not sure if the Call of Duty game will be a port of the Call of Duty game coming this year or if it will be built from the ground up for the NGP, though it would be preferable at this rate. I'm not sure if there are that many Sony IP games I'd be anticipating since most of them I'm not a fan of or ever played a game of them, I would buy anything related to Legend of Dragoon though... Just saying. I also think there's a good 97% assured chance that Square-Enix will step in and provide some Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts for the NGP like they did for the DS and PSP this gen.

So these are my thoughts, now we wait just another month. Tell me what you think.

Sunday Ramblings: Gaming Status and Skylanders

Following the recent revolution in Egypt, I believe it's the plague of blood that follows then after. This is Sunday Ramblings!

Well folks it has been another week and I actually have some real gaming stuff to get into. I've had a chance to get some gaming in with Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines and playing Halo 2 for the first time ever. I've felt like revisiting Halo since I never did play any of the games past the original that was released many years ago and I played Bloodlines just to get a few cheap thrills before finally playing Assassin's Creed II as I've been meaning to for over a year now.

Some new stuff to report: The Darkness 2 is finally being made! WOOT! I don't know how many people remember the original game, but it was one of my first 360 games when I bought it back in 2008 and it was a really awesome FPS with a compelling story, great voice acting, precise controls, strong graphics, pretty much everything that makes a good game in general. I have been hoping for a sequel for the longest time ever since playing it, and it's finally on its way out, expected to be released Q4 of this year. Cannot wait, this will be so much fun.

Another update, Spyro's Kingdom has finally been revealed and in a pretty unique way that Activision has taken it. Anyway, the new Spyro game has been revealed as Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. If you're wondering what's unique about it, it's the fact that it's actually a game that requires the use of figurines and a portal that allows players to change their character at random. I was wondering how it would work and it seems like the portals are wireless and can connect to their respective consoles, and it doesn't seem like it will be too much of a hassle to change characters. Removing the characters can be done at any point and just replaced with Spyro and 31 of his friends that come with built-in unique powers. If you're wondering how this figurine system works, the game is supposed to be bundled with three of them and the others can be bought separately in packs of three.

I have done some thinking also about how this set up would work, since 32 different characters to play through is a pretty good number of characters for an action-adventure game though I did wonder how it would manage to renew interest when all of the figures have been collected. Maybe if this is the plan for a second reboot of the Spyro series, this will be where potential sequels come into play where a new line of figurines are sold along with the new game since Skylanders is obviously only programmed for the first 32. Could change if the characters end up becoming DLC or the games are open enough to allow for new characters, time will tell.

So I might as well put my own two cents into it and say this much: I think it could be a pretty fun idea if pulled off correctly. I don't think toy lineups are quite as all the rage as they used to be, let's face it this line is not going to get ZhuZhu Pets notoriety. If it's lucky though, it may not have to quite so large and just be able to garner a large enough audience to keep going. It clearly worked for the Legend of Spyro trilogy despite not getting spectacular reviews, the same could possibly apply here. The game is also under development by game studio Toys for Bob which some might know as being the developers for the first two Star Control games. In recent years they've mostly been doing licensed games like Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa that have received mixed reception. I probably will end up buying the game regardless to see if the idea turns out to be any fun for at least me.

And here's a portion that I didn't think I would have to put up with, but it seems like the Sonic fanbase has begun to rub off on the Spyro fanbase. Specifically on game forums and other places like Deviantart, there are people claiming that Skylanders is going to be a bad game without having played it and don't give any reason other than his new design. Some people might remember AKnotHoleResident on youtube who basically went on a ten minute rampage over the fact that Sonic 4 was using Sonic's newer model as opposed to his old one, and while the same might not have happened to the Spyro fanbase yet there are people who are making this claim on the same foundations. It's quite facepalm worthy to think that there are humans above the age of 18 at least claim that their favorite franchise has been destroyed just because somebody decided to change the character's design. I'll admit I'm not a huge fan of the redesign myself, but it's not Bomberman: Act Zero number one, and number two shouldn't we be past the age of where we can enjoy games regardless of what they look like? I don't care for the cell-shading in the Zelda games, but that doesn't keep me from enjoying Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks.

Well there's something I managed to get out of my system, it's sad to think that there are those of us in the gaming community that act like this. To me it seems like it's part of the reason everyday onlookers see us in the gaming community as anti-social, short-tempered, children, because we start acting this way over the most trivial things. That's another subject for another day though even if it's applicable to other fandoms and communities. Case in point, the game will appeal to whoever likes it and actually gives it a fair chance instead of just having a pre-determined hate for it. I'm waiting to try out the game for myself and I'm sure others will as well. Skylanders is set for release September 30 of this year on the Xbox 360, Wii, Playstation 3, and Nintendo DS.

Sunday Ramblings: XLV!

As the new season of American Idol quickly approaches, it has begun to make its audiences ask the greatest question in the grand scheme of things: Does anyone care anymore at this point? This is Sunday Ramblings!

Welcome everyone to me having something interesting to talk about. So just recently I got done watching Super Bowl XLV and the winner of this year, Green Bay Packers! Let it be known here that the Green Bay Packers have managed to beat the Pittsburg Steelers 31 to 25 and the result was a superbly intense game as well. Green Bay did manage to say ahead in the game for the most part, but there were plenty of opportunities where Pittsburgh had every chance to take the lead, but the better team clearly won this day. The defenses, the offenses, the kicks, pretty much everything manage to make this one of the coolest Super Bowls in recent memory. The half-time show was also really quite well done; it was hosted by the Black Eyed Peas and had guest appearances from Usher and Slash. Music was pretty good and the performance itself was dazzling beyond words, in fact if it just had been done in front of the right set, it could have easily been a deleted scene from Tron: Legacy.

Pretty much the only thing I didn't like about this year were the opening songs, America the Beautiful was sung by Lea Michele and the National Anthem by Christina Aguilera, both of whom I really didn't care for. I can't remember hearing too much of Christina Aguilera, but in general I really don't like Lea Michele, she just doesn't do it for me as a singer. Didn't like her in Glee, not any different here.

Of course there is also the main reason that I watch the Super Bowl for the most part, that being the commercials. Many being gut-bustingly funny in a very obvious or very sadly true way. As you might have guessed, most of them are based on Doritos and Bud Light/Budweiser beer. Of course there were also some Pepsi Zero Max commercials that managed to deal with some sadly true relationship situations, like one where this one guy is supposed to be losing weight and his girlfriend keeps taking away fatty stuff from him before he can eat it, then she's okay with him drinking the Zero Max, only to throw it at a nearby running girl who he ends up checking out accidently. A really priceless commercial though, this guy and girl are out on a date and the girl wonders things like, "What's he like?, Does he make money? Does he want kids?" And as you might guess, the guy is going, "I want to sleep with her. I want to sleep with her. I want to sleep with her." Then a waitress sets down a Pepsi Zero Max between them and he begins thinking, "I want a Pepsi Zero. I want a Pepsi Zero. I want a Pepsi Zero." Not exactly the same situation as he described, but I believe the great philosopher Jeff Foxworthy did best describe the two things us men are always thinking of, and it shows in this commercial. :P

I also really liked to movie commercials that were brought out this year, all supporting my belief that 2011 will be a cool movie year, for me at least. I'm STOKED for Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and Cowboys & Aliens actually looks pretty interesting (I'm praying Noah Ringer will at least be decent in this one…). A pretty big announcement that was made in the Super Bowl is what's probably the first unveiling of J.J. Abrams' Super 8, so far it is looking really cool and the concepts that were brought forward are having me hopeful. Then there's also the superheroes to take the spot light: specifically Thor and Captain America. I have to admit when I first saw the Thor commercial I thought it would be Aquaman for some odd reason, but thankfully we have a superhero actually worth rooting for at this point. And Captain America has finally received the big screen treatment he has been going for after all these years. There was a live action Captain America movie done before actually, all the way back in 1990 which ended up becoming a direct to video movie, and if you haven't heard of that version 'till now, chances are there must be a good reason. Haven't seen it myself, but now way will this new one be any worse than the old one currently available.

That's the fun I had this Super Bowl, hope everybody else who watches it did so as well, Cheeseheads FTW!

Sunday Ramblings: Gargunghidt

Lady Gaga wants a perfume that smells like blood and semen. Oh no! Rarararara is a battlecry! This is Sunday Ramblings!

Hey everybody, it's me again with an inability to think of a decent title. This one will obviously be short since I don't have much to do, mostly just after getting off work and not having much to do. I haven't been able to buy any games lately because of my monetary situation. I did say I wanted Lost in Shadow and I would like to get Dead Space 2 once I beat Dead Space 1 anyway. I hopefully will get a chance to when things clear up a bit for me, it's been a bit of a burden on me for a while, I blame 2010 gaming year. I obviously would like to do so soon because of the February releases and the 3DS coming out in March, so it will be a tough but hopefully manageble period. This has been pretty uninteresting to type out I have to admit, but most of what I have been doing these days is writing up my KOTOR adaptation and doing homework. Doesn't life sound exciting at this point?
