Honestly, I'd be happy with next gen console gaming just not having issues such as frame skipping and dropping to 1-2 fps at times. Too many games on the PS3/X360 tried to push the system too far and had frame rates that suffered at times. While 1080p/60fps gaming certainly is noticeable and does matter, I think most people are just looking for a solid enough gameplay experience, and so far, the next gen systems are looking to provide a good baseline of power to make that possible, if not reaching the ideal 1080p/60fps all the time.

@juboner @Necrotron The argument is, people can notice, they just might not realize it. Yes, you can have fun, amazing gameplay experiences at fps well below 30 even, but for the realistic, immersive gaming experiences most people expect from first person shooters and games like Assassins' Creed, you really want a 60 fps experience, because it really is noticeable.

@Double_Wide Totally, it doesn't take a master system to make a fun game. The Wii should have proved that a long time ago.

Still, for the immersive/realistic graphics junkie, all of this matters. For everyone else, all of the current gen systems can still make for some amazing experiences.

@Grenadeh @Toxic-Seahorse Well, the problem lies in how much horsepower it takes to render everything at 1080p and 60 fps. That's quite a tall order for today's technology at an affordable price still. The PS4 and Xbox One will be leagues beyond the last gen systems, but reaching that 1080p/60 fps order will likely not be possible for every game on that system. There will always be PC, for reaching that benchmark, but the PS4/XOne is looking to still perform admirably for most applications.

tl;dr; You'll still be able to do better, but man, the PS4/XOne are looking to be damn fine systems.

@realguitarhero5 Who honestly cares about where we get our gaming experiences from? I think a lot of us only care about getting a quality experience, whether from consoles, handhelds, or PC, it doesn't matter.

@Tauu Consoles definitely offer a cost effective, easy to use solution, and hopefully the next gen can introduce a wider audience to 60 fps gaming. But yeah, if you can afford it, PC gaming will always offer the better experience.

60 FPS is something you can totally notice, and matters. You may not realize it matters, but if you want a rich experience, you will notice.

Just like compressed music downloaded via iTunes sounds wimpy and lacking ambiance when played through a nice speaker system compared to 16 bit music played from a CD. Your average person might say that can't notice, but they might not realize they actually can, and it certainly affects whether or not they find said music rich and satisfying to listen to.

About what I expected when they showed their first trailer. At least it's decent.
