Just a rant here but I really dont understand why people use water cooling now, I mean a 2500K will happily go to 4.8Ghz on a decent air cooler. The limiting factor isnt the heat, its the CPU you happen to have.

Daytona_178

now being you can get 4.8 on a Decent air cooler what do you think i can do with a custom water loop

Well 1155 CPU's CANT go beyond 5Ghz, its their limit. But you can get to 5Ghz with air cooling providing your lucky and get a decent grade cpu.

yes but thats just sandy bridge i would still put it underwater to hit the 5ghz mark but on the side of that if they are that overclockable i would want to see the results with socket 2011 ;)

Here is another guide:http://www.koolance.com/technical/cooling101/001.html . Btw, Koolance makes best water cooling products, the main thing you have to be careful about is the pump- if you buy a cheap water cooler and if the pump fails or suppose you were not there when it does- you'll wreck your entire system. So my recommendation would be: Buy a good quality water cooler or don't buy at all.

Blubadox

agree Danger Dens Pumps and Swiftech are two of the best so far.

Why do you need a guide, just plug stuff in, it really can't be rocket science.

GTR12

actually if the barbs are not fitted properly it can leak all over your system, now i know you don't want that happening now do you :p

doesn't changed the fact if you up the bus speed like that , you're whole motherboard is overclocked. I always find a overclocked pc working less stable no matter how much tweaks you do. A small overclock though is not noticable and you still feel the speed if you go from 2,4 to 2,8 ghz

evildead6789

so my i7920 at 4.2 is unstable?? i highly doubt it ,also you aren't going to notice a 400mhz difference either.... this is why they made (Stability test programs) such as prime 95/Linpack/occt/interburn test and there are others.

i was thinking that i should upgrade it when the new consoles hit the markets but some ppl suggested that i should go for an upgrade now

cuz my machine just wont survive tha accelerating improvement in graphics

what do you think?

NOMAD_78

i would personally wait till socket 2011 comes out, it should be released by fall or chirstmas this year.
