You're overexaggerating the crashing and tweaking. If your hardware isn't faulty or extremely out of date, most good games (which also generally have decent debugging teams) will run just fine. To answer your main question though, the upfront costs of the PC as a gaming only machine really are not totally worth the money, but hey, you use your PC for other things too right? Really the price premium between a PC you were going to buy anyways for other things and a gaming capable PC are about the same or less than that of one of these next gen consoles. One could actually argue for the relative affordability of consoles a few generations ago, but it seems like every sucessive generation of consoles is $100-$200 more expensive than the last, so even this argument may be moot in the future.

Sony's pockets are deep enough to rebound from this...of course every day that passes without the PS3 getting a top tier game makes it harder and harder for them to do that (damn you MGS4 Delay!).

They're licensing fees to the owner of the console that the game is on. E.x. 10+ dollars of every copy of halo you buy goes to Microsoft, 10+ dollars of every copy of R&C you buy goes to sony. Both Microsoft and Sony sell their consoles at a loss (meaning that they're charging you less than what it actually costs them to make the thing in the first place) and try to recoup the losses in video game licensing fees.

If this is actually true, then it is just disgusting on part of EPIC. I have lost a lot of respect for them for this move, even though I don't think I would've cared too much about Gears anyways. Oh well, if it's any consolation, co-op will probably get modded in anyways.

Why do people still respond to Reyes threads? All he does is quote your post regardless of its validity then call you biased, insecure, stupid, or something or another. Then cover his eyes from the awful truth he is reading on the boards and imagine Master Chief riding on a pretty pink unicorn while humming the Halo theme in order to calm himself down.

"Revolutionary" hasn't happened since the late 90's and maybe the early 2000's. The best you can hope for these days is a game that is a good blend of genre elements.
