@andfx8 People on the Sony side are less butthurt over needing PS+ because not everything is held behind the paywall as the case with Live. Plus PS+ has offered more to people who use it in terms of discounts and "free" games in the last three months than Live has in its entire existence.

@leandrro @Joedgabe @Baconelite Because it costs Dell absolutely nothing, I was nice in the first reponse but after seeing more, your comparison is stupid.

@leandrro That's a really, really poor comparison. Dell isn't investing tens (if not hundreds) of millions of dollars into a game network infrastructure on a closed platform that's entirely on a single company.

@tmarbleii @PHOENIXZERO @MasterManiac772 Even with the original rendering of the character's face there wouldn't have been enough grounds for a lawsuit. Post even less.

You seriously don't see it?

So much for Australia's R18+ rating for video games...

@onlinekill@PHOENIXZERO@carlrhxphn They're already going that "extra mile" with PC versions, it's not going to increase costs or require more time to do given all three platforms are running on the same basic architecture. It's not so far different from PC games having a variety of graphical settings. The PC is going to be lead for quite a few developers this time around thanks to the architecture, Ubisoft has already gone that route and other publishers/developers are sure to follow if they make PC versions of their games. Even if it isn't the lead, if there's a PC version some of the improvements can be applied to the PS4 version.

Modern game engines are very flexible with their ability to scale. Developers will be able to have the PS4 versions of games look a bit better and perform better overall with less work than they'll have to put in (at least early on) to manage how the XBO's 32MB of eSRAM is used.

PS4 versions looking and performing better by having better shadowing, lighting, particle effects, crisper textures, AA, frame rates, less or faster loading and so on are not out of the realm of multi-platform development and it won't come at a higher cost or longer period of development. As I already said, it'll be similar to PC games with one running the game at "medium" settings and another at medium-high settings. The architecture between platforms is THAT close.

It isn't going to be like this generation where only first party (or exclusive) developers were able to get the most out of the PS3's nightmare of an architecture. The gap between first and third party games this time is going to be much smaller. Hell, third parties are already showing off games that look better than some first party offerings.

And I love how much of this is just me repeating what I already said. But the point remains the same, this is a generation that's going to be unlike any before it.

@NotGeorge Except The Last of Us debuted first and many made the connection minutes after the first trailer was released and I don't recall anyone knowing at the time that Page was a part of another project. Beyond Two Souls wasn't shown until much, much later. The original rendering of the character looked A LOT like her.

The updated version not so much: https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-rnPGvtlcqNU/UTkXoLb71uI/AAAAAAAABwo/FK1xnh6Ecnk/s1000-fcrop64=1,00000000fffff81a/T1_BW_Double_Ellie_01.jpg

Besides this is getting way over blown and it wasn't said with some sort of malice as the "media" is turning a non-story into a big deal. Hell, she even referred someone to the actress who portrayed Ellie on Twitter with a smiley face at the end the same day she wrote that message on Reddit.

FFS people are making a mountain out of a molehill here.

The character did resemble Ellen Page and a lot of people thought she was playing Ellie back before they changed the character's appearance. I doubt Page follows this stuff very closely and was referring to the old design, I imagine it was annoying since she was working on Beyond:Two Souls and people thought she was working on TLoU.

Since the major game sites are chronic clickbaiters too lazy. Her's an old article on the matter.

@Angel_Belial It's apparently something she's gotten a lot and probably is still only aware of the original design of the character. A lot of people thought Ellie resembled Ellen Page to where they thought she was involved, even people who worked for Naughty Dog noticed it after they finished the trailer. Then they went back and change her face along with their making the character younger.

This one sentence is getting ridiculously blown out of proportion.
